Climbing Helvellyn on a E-bike!
มุมมอง 1522 ปีที่แล้ว
The climb up Helvellyn is torture even on a E-Bike. In total its 5 miles long and over 2500 feet of climbing depending on which side you tackle the mountain from. Category 1 on Strava. This particular section is Keppel Cove, Category 2 it self on Strava - over a mile long and 18% average on strava. Brutal even on a E-bike. Here I climb Keppel cove to the top of Whiteside 2800 feet! Its hard for...
Rookhope Offroad C2C

This is the last big climb on the C2C. You can either do this one or the 'On Road' Crawleyside Bank - its a toss up which one is tougher....probably this one I would say. But no problems for my E-Bike and its 2.8 chunky tyres :)
Nenthead Off Road Climb E-Bike
มุมมอง 392 ปีที่แล้ว
C2C climb number 3 there is an alternative 'on road' which would be better suited for most because this is the off road climb out of Nenthead and it is brutal on you and the bike. I done it on my E-bike here today.
Hartside Pass E-Bike
มุมมอง 342 ปีที่แล้ว
Hartside Pass the the hardest climb on the C2C. I done it when I was on the C2C but that day I was in survival mode, and conserving battery mode. But this day I went up in boost mode to see how much faster I could get up. It was extremely hot on this day, 27'C, 84ish... took me a long time at the top to cool down.

This is the first real climb on the C2C. I did the entire C2C this year on the 23rd May in 10.5 hours, I done it on a E-bike in Eco mode, it was still tough! Strava www.strava.com/activities/7191683200

I'm 50 miles into my cycle here and this Bridal way I totally underestimated. It was way too rough for my hybrid set up but I just had to carry on and see this famous view. This is the last couple of miles, including view and falls off. The strava route www.strava.com/activities/7347536832

Hartside Pass C2C E-bike, Eco mode
มุมมอง 1002 ปีที่แล้ว
This is me struggling the infamous (cat 2) Hartside Pass. the toughest and longest climb on the famous C2C. I'm 70 miles in here on my first C2C attempt. In my mind I needed to get over the top of this climb on my first battery so my second full battery would get me to Tynemouth, the end! So I climbed this entire climb in eco mode, I was on my last bar and didn't want to change half way up so I...

Tough stuff ! How did you get the real time data on the screen?
Hi thanks, I used Garmin Virb software, it's excellent but it hasnt been updated for ages. I'm currently looking for alternative...but I think Virb still works.
Singing about a 3 some on a kids programme 😮all wrong back then but seemed so innocent
Wow!
The first song seems to be about a threesome with their very camp friend !! on a kids show!!
I'm not even a bird watcher but thats fantastic - not seen since 76 ? Its normally in Spain and med countries
Kids were so decent then. But they had a nuclear family, mum and dad and stable life, with little outside pollution deviances back then. God I would love the kids of today have all this instead of the filth they’re being given today from such an early age. That reading bit at the end, an English teacher couldn’t rattle that off these days.
I remember a lot kids being absolute sh•ts then. Funny how the mind plays tricks.
@@richardgale4827 In general they were more decent than they are today. Sure there were bad ones but not on the scale that they are today. How many kids did you know who went around carrying machetes?
@@iant9461 My cousin was an inner-city teacher in the 70s and 80s. Sometimes had to collect blades at the start of lessons. I guess it's where you were.
@@richardgale4827 Sure I saw that a few times including a Stanley knife but go and ask your cousin if he remembers kids and teachers being murdered in the classroom room. We’re you at school in the 70s and 80’s? Before the 70’s or after the 80s?
it wasn't so innocent back then. and you well know...
Jules Holland tinkling away...that's a most boring track I've gotta say... ' Is it called Boogie Woogie Boring Bit by any chance? I don't wanna dance - no more!
With Robbie Brannigan etc… best days
I used to go there from Sunderland awesome there fond memories..
Impressed - which e-bike did you use and how much battery did this climb eat up? I'm doing it in April and am nervously daunted by this killer climb!
Allright Paul, my bike is a Rockrider eST-900. If your talking the full C2C on a Ebike, I done the full 134 miles in eco mode and I had two full bars left on my second battery...enough to cycle 11 miles home from the finish. If your talking just this climb, hmm I'm not sure, but I went up in boost mode here, and the bike was saying I would only get about 14 miles if the currently telemetry stayed the same. But luckily of course this is only a 5 miles stretch and is definitely the worst and hardest climb on the C2C - not the steepest, but definitely the most gruelling. Here is my GPS data for my full C2C ride www.strava.com/activities/7191683200
@@MBrady1970 thanks Michael....that's really impressive given you did the whole C2C in one go. I like the idea of using two batteries but as my Trek has a 625w battery and we're splitting the ride over a few days, I should be ok with just one. Good advice though to just use Eco for the majority of the ride and save the other modes for the killer climbs.
Geordies, the best break dancers in the world
tiffs was brilliant. class vid ..
That looks great with the eBike. I remember it well from when I did it on a hybrid. It looks like it's become a popular hiking route.
You don't usually see too many people up here - but today there was a music video being shot up there...no kidding ha ha...
lets get this straight, you cycled to AND up High Cup.. Awesome
Well, I approached it from the east "Cow green Reservoir" so not the same route as you. But yes I cycled from Newcastle and back again, 103 miles altogether lol....full route here .. www.strava.com/activities/7347536832
Nice video. It was tough when I did it in 2011 but it looks like it's even a struggle with an eBike. I see you climbed Nenthead, glad I only had to descend it. I have an eBike now and it would be fun to try those climbs.
E-bikes are great fun. Its only way I can have fun on all these climbs in the Pennines. My knees just wouldn't thank me for them. You'll love your ebike, they open up a whole world of exploration, but you still got to work - I was blowing hard going up here even in top assist mode. I've done all the C2C climbs....Hartside I still think is the worst, goes on and on. Garrigill possibly the steepest.
Are u pedaling aswell ?
Bit creepy how “old” artists would turn up to a kids party?.
Old artist? You mean Robbin Gibb at 35? Still a few songs to go. What about David Bowie, he’d have been 36 and singing Let’s Dance around this time. What about Take That? Just exactly are you trying to say you stupid fud?
It's only "creepy" in your dirty lil' mind; Those "old artists" from the 1970s were still popular back than, and hit the charts quite often.
That first song just stole wham rap.?
The whole of the 80s was full of plagiarised songs
honestly they sound similar they prob took inspo from wham

RIP Alistair Pirrie
I was there for David Cassidy, toyah, king, psychodelic furs, anyone else? Annnnnd I never realised how gay this program was... Is that a pair of leather under pants? Singing those lyrics in front of kids.?
Reminds me of Cameo. Strange back then. Probably looked more ridiculous to parents than overtly sexual. Better image of blacks compared with today though, don’t you think?
From Wednesday 27th June 1984.
Yeah it was definitely summer, how can you be so exact though?
