    The term the British Isles is an outdated Geographical term that is not recognised by the Irish Government nor by the Majority of Irish people living in Ireland.

    More re-heated British propaganda here. Ireland isn't British. Not in the British Isles. No connection to the Saxons in England. In fact, there's much more cultural and linguistic similarity between the English and Dutch than there is with Ireland. And people in Northern Ireland ARE Irish. They just live in occupied territory. For now...

    Very good video apart from the parts where you mentioned the Union Jack. The Union Jack is called a Jack when flown on a Naval vessel but when flown on land it's called the Union Flag. Also where the hell did you come up with the term British English. That's just rubbish the official languages spoken in the UK are English Welsh Irish Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic as well as Cornish there are also other languages spoken her from people who've migrated here from other lnationsthere is no such language called British English its just English the clue is in the name the English of England invented the English language its as simple as that

    Ireland is not a British Isle. The Island of Ireland lies mainly in Irish Territorial waters not British Territorial waters. The Majority of citizens on the Island of Ireland are Irish citizens not British citizens. Ireland can no longer be called a British Isle since it regained its Independence and Territorial waters in 1922.

    Ireland is not part of the british isles. We, I.e. the Irish, don’t recognise the term as including our country. We spent long enough trying to get away from them.

    What a load of rubbish. Wales and NI are not countries. Wales is just a region of England. NI is also just a region of the UK. The Shamrock is not a flower. There is no such country the Rep of Ireland, it's just Ireland and is not part of the British Isles. Half the population of NI consider themselves Irish. The only official language in NI is English. The Irish language is still officially banned as an official language, ie, it cannot be used in the courts, for example. St. Patrick's Cross is not officially recognised in Ireland. The flag of the UK is not called the Union Jack, it's called the Union flag. The Union Jack is only used at sea. Do some proper research before posting nonsense.

      Wales is its own country within the United Kingdom, it has its own assembly and is no longer a part of England. Northern Ireland, however, is still considered a principality. There is such a country as the Republic of Ireland, it is the official name of the country of Ireland. Similar to how the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the official name of the United Kingdom - it's a shortening. Irish is considered an official language in Northern Ireland, along with English. Ulster Scots, however, is not. In practice, however, English is the dominant language and, as you say, is the only language allowed in courts. St. Patrick's Saltire is recognised in Ireland and is still used by the Royal Irish Guards and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland to this day. It was never the flag of Ireland, however, and was resented by catholics in Ireland as it became a symbol of British Rule. It is also definitely recognised by Northern Ireland, which is what the video actually says. The Union Flag vs Union Jack debate is no longer relevant. There was an act passed by the UK parliament in 1908 that declared that the flag should officially be called the Union Jack, at sea or not. Do some proper research before posting nonsense.

    There are so many inaccuracies in this video that it's embarrassing. 'Scottish' is not a language, England does not have its own parliamentary assembly, Ireland is the official name of the part of that island not under Westminster's jurisdiction. There are several other less glaring ones, but please!

    • @h-Qalziel
      @h-Qalziel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed, in Scotland there are three languages: Scottish English (British English), Scots, and Scottish Gaelic.

    The eastern United States has a varied topography. A broad, flat coastal plain lines the Atlantic and Gulf shores from the Texas-Mexico border to New York City, and includes the Florida peninsula. This broad coastal plain and barrier islands make up the widest and longest beaches in the United States, much of it composed of soft, white sands. The Florida Keys are a string ofcoral islands that reach the southernmost city on the United States mainland (Key West). Areas further inland feature rolling hills, mountains, and a diverse collection of temperate and subtropical moist and wet forests. Parts of interior Florida and South Carolina are also home to sand-hill communities. TheAppalachian Mountains form a line of low mountains separating the eastern seaboard from the Great Lakes and the Mississippi Basin. New England features rocky seacoasts and rugged mountains with peaks up to 6200 feet and valleys dotted with rivers and streams. Offshore Islands dot the Atlantic and Gulf coasts. The five Great Lakes are located in the north-central portion of the country, four of them forming part of the border with Canada, only Lake Michigan situated entirely within United States. The southeast United States, generally stretching from the Ohio Riveron south, includes a variety of warm temperate and subtropical moist and wet forests, as well as warm temperate and subtropical dry forests nearer the Great Plains in the west of the region. West of the Appalachians lies the lush Mississippi River basin and two large eastern tributaries, the Ohio River and the Tennessee River. TheOhio and Tennessee Valleys and the Midwest consist largely of rolling hills, interior highlands and small mountains, jungly marsh and swampland near the Ohio River, and productive farmland, stretching south to the Gulf Coast. The Midwest also has a vast amount of cave systems. The Great Plains lie west of the Mississippi River and east of the Rocky Mountains. A large portion of the country's agricultural products are grown in the Great Plains. Before their general conversion to farmland, the Great Plains were noted for their extensive grasslands, from tallgrass prairie in the eastern plains to shortgrass steppe in the western High Plains. Elevation rises gradually from less than a few hundred feet near the Mississippi River to more than a mile high in the High Plains. The generally low relief of the plains is broken in several places, most notably in the Ozark andOuachita Mountains, which form the U.S. Interior Highlands, the only major mountainous region between the Rocky Mountains and the Appalachian Mountains.

    The United States shares land borders with Canada (to the north) and Mexico (to the south), and a territorial water border with Russia in the northwest, and two territorial water borders in the southeast between Florida and Cuba, and Florida and the Bahamas. The contiguous forty-eight states are otherwise bounded by the Pacific Ocean on the west, the Atlantic Ocean on the east, and the Gulf of Mexico to the southeast. Alaska borders the Pacific Ocean to the south and southwest, the Bering Strait to the west, and the Arctic Ocean to the north, while Hawaii lies far to the southwest of the mainland in the Pacific Ocean. Forty-eight of the states are in the single region between Canada and Mexico; this group is referred to, with varying precision and formality, as the contiguous United States, and as the Lower 48. Alaska, which is included in the term continental United States, is located at the northwestern end of North America. The capital city, Washington, District of Columbia, is a federal district located on land donated by the state of Maryland. (Virginia had also donated land, but it was returned in 1849.) The United States also hasoverseas territories (Insular areas) with varying levels of autonomy and organization: in the Caribbean the territories of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and in the Pacific the inhabited territories of American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, along with a number ofuninhabited island territories. Some of the territories acquired were a part of United States imperialism, or to gain access to the east.

  • @ikergimenez5417
    @ikergimenez5417 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The term "United States", when used in the geographical sense, is the contiguous United States, the state of Alaska, the island state of Hawaii, the five insular territories of Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands,Guam, and American Samoa, and minor outlying possessions.The United States shares land borders withCanada and Mexico and maritime borders with Russia,Cuba, the Bahamas, and other countries,in addition to Canada and Mexico. The northern border of the United States with Canada is the world's longest bi-national land border.
