Not necessarily one can tell off the bat if a company is a bad fit or not. Sometimes, after the honeymoon phase (3 months or sometimes even years), they show their true colors. Research & reading feedback from current or former employees helps. Go with your gut feelings, if it feels off or you feel uneasy, then time to seek out another employer. I was treated horribly by a top-tier international employer with continuous inconsistencies with empty promises of promotion or pay increases & bonuses, ect. ect. no matter how hard or long I worked. When I left, they were amazed that I had the courage to leave. They were also in denial that they had treated me so poorly & never thought, I would step away from the position. They basically took me for granted, gaslighted me & made me look like the black sheep for leaving (ok, whatever makes them feel better for being caught off guard). This is how you know who's your true friends are & honestly I felt they some former colleagues only kept in touch to get the dirt to relay back to my former company. I even had some ask me to help them get into my current company, but I have no plans to bring anybody that reminds me of my past toxic job. Sorry, but I got this my current job on my own. Where were they, when I was thrown under the bus? No thanks! 99% of the time, colleagues are not your true friends, but just self-driven individuals trying to climb up the ranks of their career. Because they were a big name company, they thought that was enough for me to stay stagnant until retirement. No thanks! I know my self-worth, been quietly planning an exit strategy (unknowingly to them or colleagues even very close ones) taking on courses, improving my skill set & knowing there was a better fit waiting for me. Finally, after two years, I got that wage increase to reflect my skills & the salary as to industry standard. Now, I am finally working with like-minded professional colleagues, sharing ideas & working in a stress-free environment with an employer that respects my contributions with clear objectives. Thx for your content. It's time for candidates sees past poor employers & not feel obligated just 'cause they gave you a job offer. Also, it's never too late to have an exit strategy for however long you work for a company. If you feel unappreciated, working in a disrespectful, dishonest, over-worked or under-employed or toxic work place, time to find a better fit where you'll be proudly be part of or do like many & turn side hustles to small businesses. 😉

Consistently outperforming the rest in an array of metrics doesn't necessarily promote you, on the contrary.

you need to make it clear to your new boss just what you will and wont do and when ,not with words but actions and social cues ,like just walking off when you dont feel likle being there ,if challenged just act confused your boss will then think he is out of line and off you go without question next time ,overtime is done as a favor not an obligation ,and do not be afraid to tell anyone to fuck off if you feel its apporppriate just learn to trust in yourself whilst doing whatever you want too

yeah if you come to austrailia just dont work too hard ,well not while anyones watching you will be victimized for it, just act like you dont care about anything and you will get far ,the lazy aussies you are competing with are useless so you will do well ....good luck!

As an employer of 40 years, nothing annoys me more than scripted answers, and made up resumes. Most capable managers/interviewers can smell bullshit immediately. Its better to say you don't know than trying to 'wing it' and lie. Australians value honesty and transparency above all. Interviews serve 3 fundamental purposes; 1) to verify the authenticity of your resume 2) to understand your personality, cultural fit, work ethic, motivation and aspirations, 3) to glean more detail around you experience and work history.

Professionalism, not professionality. Finish on time, sure, as long as you getting your work done, we value output over attendance. To be a tradesman, you need to undergo a 4 year apprenticeship, and 2-3 year college course. Tradies are definitely not 'un-educated'. You English is good, but I don't think good enough to teach or coach the English language. Your use of cultural stereotypes is a little offensive.

not to start a fight or anything, but a huge chunk of what she said about work culture in asia is true or at least expected. It's not really there to offend and say each business or company works that way, but it is the "norm". I am from southeast asia.
