In a war-torn United States engulfed in civil war, Texas and California have seceded to form the Western Forces (WF), while Florida has created its own alliance. The government, led by a third-term President, battles these secessionist movements, but confidence in the President's promised victory is low as the WF advances toward Washington, DC. War photographer Lee, staying in New York, witnesses a bombing and joins her colleague Joel to cover a protest that turns violent. Amid the chaos, Lee saves young photographer Jessie, who admires her work. Lee, Joel, and their mentor Sammy, along with Jessie, embark on a perilous journey to Washington, DC, aiming to secure a final interview with the President. Throughout their journey, they witness and document the devastation of the civil war, encountering torture, executions, and desperate civilians. Jessie grapples with the brutal realities of war photography under Lee’s tough mentorship. As they near their destination, Jessie is fatally shot, leaving Lee devastated. Reaching DC, Lee and Joel break into the White House for the interview, resulting in Joel's death and Lee’s fatal injury. The WF ultimately takes over the country, and Lee's final photos help in rebuilding the nation.
