I am desperately looking for more music written for viola, cello and double bass....
@@shaunnagunderson3232I have a piece for that instrumentation. Search for it here.
Nice work, specially 3rd mov.🙂
Thank you very kindly!
Very nice! I love the reminiscence with Fröhlicher Landmann in the second theme of the Presto!
@@engelbertschoormans thanks so much!
Wonderful work! It’s nice to know that there are others composing in this sort of style. Far too often, I find composers like us (in my own experience) tend to be disregarded as us trying to be Mozart (F those people anyway). I myself have a TH-cam channel and post my music. It’s in a similar style as this, but with other elements such as African dance rhythms (borrowed from my time working with musicians over there, long story) and hints of rock/metal during the darker moments.
Thanks very much. I agree, too often historicists are written off, especially by academia, and it just isn't fair. Fortunately, that seems to be changing gradually.
@ yes! Just because you don’t use/like harsh dissonances in your music doesn’t mean you don’t have your own voice, even if you’re writing in an older style!
Thank you for your effort. I really enjoyed your music
My pleasure, and thank you!
Mwah! Chef’s Kiss! Bravo!❤
Fantastic Lee! I LOVE IT! ❤
@greghumphrey8552 thanks very much!
Excellent music!
Thank you so much!
This is wonderful music, Joseph, so completely in the proper spirit of great ragtime.
Thanks so much!
This was quite nice. I especially enjoyed the rondo.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
where are the repeat signs?
Ah, you caught me! In the original score, there are repeats, but in order to get a playback score that played back accurately, I had to write out the repeats. Sorry about that!
love you
great stuff
Thanks very much! Along with my 9th Symphony, I consider that this piece might be my masterpiece.
Que hermosa melodía
@@kimica5990 muchas gracias!
Bravo - your style is fluent! Ever thought about writing an alto trombone concerto?
@Perotinus1 thank you very kindly! And yes, I am interested in the trombone. James Hampson commissioned a sonata of me for corno da tirarsi (slide horn) a couple of years ago - a video of it is to be found on my TH-cam site. If you listen to it, let me know what you think. Mr. Hampson was pleased with it. Thank you again.
Thank you for sharing a composition with such a clean and clear form! Good language of the classical era and beautiful melodies. The ommage to Haydn in the Andante is charming, as are all the variations. A delightful quartet from the first to the last bar! Please keep writing, I will look forward to your next compositions
@ozornoipesat8933 thank you very much for your very kind words!

Well done. You avoid the danger of becoming repetitive by adding just enough variation.

Great Job Lee!! Love it! ❤️
Thanks so much!
I'm here because... (Pearl)
I find it so hard to find great duets that were originally written for Viola and Violoncello. There are some modern ones, but I don't like them. So finding yours was very cool and I can say I really like it :D Great job!
I'm very pleased that you do! It's true, viola/violoncello duets don't exactly grow on trees, and I'm glad I could add something substantial to the repertoire. If you want a score/parts, look me up (J. Lee Graham) on IMSLP, and you'll find it there..
Oh, this one hits hard.. It's honest, playful and dramatic. There's a bit of Satie in it, a bit of Ravel, Mompou as well while remaining timeless. It's very, very moving.
Danke. Ich spiele dieses Lied auf meiner Klarinette. Dafür habe ich zu spielen angefangen. Damit dieses Lied lange nachklingt.
Es war mir ein Vergnügen.
Wonderful stuff. Quite Mozartean in flavor. If it is possible for your score/playback system to break out the organ part? I'd be happy to have a real sampled instrument render those parts for you. Whatever played back your score uses a cartoon of a (portative) organ (emphasis on 2' pitch) that seems to go out of tune (sharp?) at the upper part of its compass. Also, the playback system doesn't seem to understand that portative organs (used for continuo) use teracced dynamics, adding stops (usually upper pitches) to increase volume.
This is your Work? It's Beautiful!! Wow, I'm so proud of you. And to think I used to live next door to you and sat with you and kinda played with you. You were a Great little man!😅😂
Nice!
Beuatiful! Nice modulations. I think it would work a little bit better if the tempo was a tad slower. In Note-Performer you have different registrations you can choose for, so if organ-plenum is not your thing, than choose a delightful 8' flute...
Thanks for the tips! I had no idea there were options. Ideally for Austrian-style music like this, an 8' and 4' flute would work best. I'll check it out!
Gorgeous. So lovely to have the buoyant 6/8 time signature. C major is graceful and happy in your hands! My only quibble is with whatever rendered the score for you. The organ is hideous above G above middle C. I'll need to see if there is a way to rig up Grand Orgue or Hauptwerk into your sequencer so you have real pipe sounds at your command.
Thank you! And I agree, no organist in his/her right mind would use that registration. Not sure if it's a mixture in there, or just the 4' being too high, but it's not what I would have wished.
Wm. Bolcom loved his father, for whom he wrote this lovely & evocative piece after his death. It never fails.
When there is no pizza left:
I love 3:15 and on, you can start to hear Bolcom's boredom and seething hatred for life shine through. He just starts mashing notes together, the song gets blurry and painful. He jams in completely unmusical notes to otherwise fine chords because he's bored with what he's written and is filled with self hatred. He almost had a perfect piece of music, but that page will always permanently ruin it. That's when the piece starts to sound more like the true Bolcom - insane rags where where his self loathing leads him to create messes of the music.
Beautiful! I liked the combination of seriousness, humour and sensitivity in this set!
Thanks Leander! It was fun to write these.
AWESOME. Playing this during school for small ensemble practice and it’s fantastic! Thanks for the awesome piece!!!!
Great! I'm glad you're enjoying it. You must have found the parts on IMSLP...good deal.

This song goes way too hard
The deeper sounds are not to everyone's taste.
@@JLeeGraham we're playing this in my highschools chamber orchestra because we didn't have any violins this year (1 bass 2 cellos 2 violas). As a bass player it was a really fun piece to play and learn, however we had to make a few modifications so we could actually play it and not butcher it
@@GeebleTheGarble Ah, I fully understand. It's a challenging piece, written for professionals. I'm sure whatever adjustments you had to make were fine. Thank you for performing it!

Thank you very much! There is a lot more where that came from on my channel!

Bravo, Maestro!
Thank you very much!
This song hasn’t ever not made me cry. I can’t explain the feels it gives me.
It IS very moving - haunting, to be kind of obvious.
Me too.
Likewise.
It's melancholic and sweet. There's a Brazilian term i can't remember that most fully expresses that idea. Perhaps it's the heartbreaking sweetness of life we too often don't grasp until it's too late.
I've asked that it be played at my funeral. So emblematic of how life should be, sweet and reflective.
