Hey, really enjoy the videos. We are about to pull the trigger in ordering a Trekker X and one thing I’d like to see and ‘think’ it might make a good video Is a review and operation of the nav, head unit, reverse camera including the sound system. How you find it to use and will it stay or is it worth upgrading over time ?
Are you getting the 2025 model? The head unit and camera etc get a good review. I don't believe it comes with nav as standard, you would need to buy the SD card. The 2024 model head unit has problems with DAB reception which we are trying to sort, but no such issues in the 2025 model. The 2024 model doesn't have a reversing camera as standard.
Are you a member of the Owners FB Group?
@@TREKKERTRAVELS-c5u@TREKKERTRAVELS-c5u We were looking to get the 2025 model, yes, but the only demo they had was the 2024, and the head unit and screen were removed, so I couldn't see any of it working etc. Thanks for the info on that though.
@@TREKKERTRAVELS-c5u I'm not on FB, but I'll get my better half to join the group shortly
Another great video. 👍🏽 is there a place in the Trekker where the table is stored when not in use?
@pablok6342 the table can be stored on the bed, either with the bed down or folded up.
Where do you buy these grills please, awesome addition!?
@@markscotia5795 the Ford store on eBay. Around £180 and they had a 15% discount at the time
I would say that it’s not that safe storing on bed, if breaking Sharply it becomes a projectile and could cause damage to van or you.
I don't think there's anyway for it to come out of the bed but I will check. The roof curves down at the front of the bed so there's no path for the ladder to come out.
Hi. Can any bedding be left in the pop top when it’s closed? Or does the pop top squeeze down tight onto the fitted mattress?
@pablok6342 there's room for at least a duvet up there. It might take some trial and error to position some pillows up there too.

Great idea, thanks for sharing😊...pls can you share the Amazon link
Sorry, done now, I had to wait for the video to upload.
Excellent ! Found the light switch for the bathroom & above the rear bed 🎉 WoW that dimmer on full would give Blackpool illusions a run for there money 😊
🤣

Hey guys, where did you get the raptor grill from?
The Ford Store on Ebay
Nice work! Not one naughty word either, and no injuries this time 🎉😂
One of those does not belong...
@@dougstewart1371 there were some would be Trekker owners tagging along
@@TREKKERTRAVELS-c5u I may also be a WBTO (Would Be Trekker Owner) they are certainly a really cool camper van... :)
@ are you a member of the owners FB group?
isn’t there a risk of damaging the paintwork with the tool? makes me so nervous watching.
The tool didn't damage the paintwork and I had already watched others be far more forceful. The only thing they damaged was the clips on the old grill. I was also nervous until I saw them do it.
You need to give the water more time to react lol x
@@woody7176 it was cold weather so didn’t want to hang around and let it cool down!
Looks so much better with the new grill 😃
I think so too!
Hi could I ask how much is the rd tax on the second year?.
@@michaeldean7226 £345
Well done dude! I did the same thing with the hot water and went straight to work 😂.. I poured abit more hot water on the bottom brackets but great work never the less 👍
Ouch pouring boiled water on paint😲.
Superb weekend, great to meet the fantastic Trekker community, lovely people one and all.
No Trekkers were harmed in the making of this video!!
Great work.. however, my tip on the group was use hot water just to Loosen up those clips but it is abit of Brut force to get that first clip to release! You all seem great guys and can’t wait to meet next year 🙌
@@kingpinn85 they used hot water to do that on the first clip and a lot of brute force and bit of ignorance 🤣. You can see the kettle on the floor.
Thanks to Marcus Powell for the video. I was in the front vehicle so not able to film it myself.
Welcome to East Yorkshire guys
You realise you have your video flipped left to right???
No, the van is left hand drive and we have all our logos back to front
Have you done a video on bike rack installation?
@Spartanpete1969 no, it was supplied and fitted by the dealer FOC.
Useful video, our baby Trekker does have the wooden panel so no gubbins is visible. I understand leaving the EHU hot water switch always on at the 1 or 2 position. But do you leave the main hot water switch on at all times too?
Yep, I leave it on all the time. It only works on EHU so no risk of running the battery down. The boiler will then keep the water to temperature and switch on and off as and when the water is used or naturally cools in the boiler. It takes less than 15 mins to get to initial temperature.
Good evening, wondering where the battery is and is it possible to add a 2nd as 100ah won't last long off grid. Thanks
@@highfly8577 it's under the double rear seat. There's no room for a second one but the general feeling in the owners group is that we should upgrade to a 200ah lithium battery. Swift have confirmed that the onboard systems can handle the change. That would provide four times the capacity of the base battery.
@@TREKKERTRAVELS-c5u thanks for the reply mate. Was only thing putting me off was that and quite a small water tank other than that's perfect van for what we need. Hopefully get one ordered next year. 🤞
@@highfly8577 small fresh water tank or hot water tank? The fresh water tank is plenty for at least a couple of days depending on what you use it for. We used to have a 12L tank on our T6 but then we didn't use it for showers or flushing the toilet. If you are travelling around you shouldn't really travel with much water in the tank anyway. When based on a site I use a collapsible watering can to top it up rather than moving the van. The hot water tank is fine for a couple, especially if you have the boiler on gas and electric at the same time.
Just thinking about purchasing… What fold up electric bikes do you have? Are they good? Thanks
We have Estarli pro folding e bikes. They are great and we rode them on gravel and mud tracks on Sunday although they aren't specifically designed for that. The battery capacity isn't as good as bigger bikes but they are only 18kg each.
Are you a member of the Trekker owners Facebook Group?
@@TREKKERTRAVELS-c5u Hi, I don’t own a Trekker I’m afraid, I found the spacing in the dinette seating too tight, and the dinette seat too squashy. Also I don’t do Facebook. So counts me out on a number of levels :) But am keeping an eye out for when they come out with one with more space there, and also glad they’ve added the reversing camera. Just need to add diesel heating and then near perfect. Thanks
Also meant to add… do enjoy your channel… thanks
@ thanks, I’ll take a look… appreciated.
Did you have to put holes in the RH rear door to enable the bike rack to be fitted?
My dealer fitted it and as I understand it the bracket is glued not drilled to the door.
What’s your thoughts on buying some BF Goodrich tyres, would they fit😊
I have no idea, I know another owner has gone for a swamper look with the wheels and tyres which is what I assume you mean.
Someone has put 245/70/16 tyres on if that helps
Don’t pick ours up till the 15th of November so I’ll guess I’ll see you on the next one 😢
Do you have a different van currently? Alternatively they have glamping pods available. You're more than welcome to join us.
Can't wait 🎉
About to hit the button .... the shorter version. Any views on the longer versus shorter ?
We chose the X for the wider bed, bigger fridge (thats not on the floor) and more storage, plus the bed is better separated from the rest of the van by the fridge. The small version ironically has a larger carrying capacity.
The X is a bit less than 500mm longer I think but we haven't had any problems parking it in car parks.
Are you part of the owners Facebook Group?
@@TREKKERTRAVELS-c5u no didn't know there was one.
@motosydney2148 look us up, lots of helpful advice
Interested in the Trekker but wasn't sure whether to look at the video or your face 😂
@@billygee6376 not sure how to respond to that! 😂
Very nice. What is the longest you have been off-grid? Wonder how long your battery & solar will keep your lights and fridge working!
We haven't properly stayed off grid because we have driven during the day, so the battery has been topped up. There's discussion ongoing on the owners FB group at the moment about it.
Is there any heating/can you channel any heating up there. I'm thinking of winter use and I know my transporter pop top needs a thermal wrap and some directional heating to keep it less tentlike in November-March
No direct heating. But there are two heating vents in the bench seat directly below the opening to the pop top.
How does the pop top handle the winds? Thanks
Better than in our T6. It's an SCA pop top, so great quality.
Why the abrupt ending?
😂 I jumped up on the bed and accidentally stopped the recording without realising.
Shame it doesn’t come with air conditioning in the back, and lithium
Very nice. Is that a reversing camera? Thought Trekkers didn’t have one.
Yes, I got one fitted by my dealer. The 2025 models which are now for sale include one as standard, altho the base cost of the vehicle is higher.
Hi, thanks for your Trekker videos. We’re looking at the Trekker. Not control panel related: is their any ventilation in the wet room? What are your experiences? Thanks.
That's one thing I was curious about before buying the van too. There's no opening window or skyligh in the shower room but there is a high level vent in the side of van. There is also a heater outlet in the shower room and a hanging rail for wet clothes and a couple of hooks for towels. We have used the van for showers and the toilet and haven't had any issues with ventilation. The shower is lovely and hot and a well designed shower head that makes it feel like more water is being sprayed than actually is. There is plenty of ventilation in the van with the opening windows and the skylight.
@@TREKKERTRAVELS-c5u cheers !
One of the great things about the shower room is that there is no shower curtain to fight with. So many vans have a shower curtain which in such a small space would be difficult to not get stuck to. When looking for a van, if it had a shower curtain I would scroll on by.
Have you made a video of the fitting of the bike rack?
No, it was fitted by my dealer. I could do one on putting bikes on the rack, but not the fitting of the rack itself. I've seen the instructions and not sure I'd be brave enough to do it myself!
Hi.. there doesn’t seem to be as much space as the baby Trekker for the rail.. have you measured this or would it need cutting down for the x?
For the external rail fitting like Andy’s van now
I thought the same as the kitchen unit isn't as long in the X, but checked yesterday and it fits beneath the vent on the back of unit.
Thanks for making these videos. Some great insights. Just need to find a dealer near me that actually has one I can see in real life!
Where are you based?
Hi Paul ! Love watched your vids & visited a showroom twice to look at the Trekker, its the 1st cool looking van which is prising me away from buying a VW T6 conversion. How long have you had it now & are you pleased with it. What are the main pluses & are there any negatives i need to bear in mind.
Hi, we've had it for about 6 weeks now and have been away in it most weekends as well as some evenings. We moved up from a T6 which we had for three years and absolutely loved. It was originally our daily drive which limited the size of van we had. Over time we realised we needed a bigger van with a permanent bed and onboars facilities to enable us to be more self sufficient and go off grid. It opens up so many more opportunities. We chose the Trekker as most other vans looked cool on the outside, but when you get inside they are basically caravans squeezed into a van. The Trekker is different. In addition having permanent bed plus a pop top means you can easily sleep four and still have plenty of space without having to convert a seat or block doorways.
@@TREKKERTRAVELS-c5u many thanks for replying. Having joined a FB group I was concerned about many comments regarding the build quality, which concerned me as it's taken me a lifetime to build up the purchase price. When you read the comments it's put dought in my mind when you're about to spend at least 72k. I do love how cool it looks, having made the decision to move away from the T6 conversions. Thanks Nic
@nicwaldron8793 I'm an admin of that group. We are seeing the issues being dealt with by Swift and the Dealers so any new vans should be pretty much issue free. We've only only got minor things we want looked at and Swift are visiting us tomorrow.
@@TREKKERTRAVELS-c5u excellent many thanks for the reply 👌
Another question. What dictates the solar charge to the engine battery? Does it only charge the van battery when the leisure is full or does it send charge if the van battery is low? I’m guessing it’s a voltage sensitive relay when the van battery drops below a certain voltage.
@@NemesisofSparta it switches between them depending on which one needs it most. You can manually over ride this. You can also choose which battery is used for power to the van systems.
That’s good. Thanks for confirming.
Is the leisure battery also charged by the alternator
Yes, the leisure battery is charged when the engine is running
clearcutconversions.co.uk/product/round-table-top/
You mentioned that once the engine has been started everything shuts down. I assume this isn’t the case for the fresh and waste water heaters?
That’s a very good question. Haven’t had need to test it but will have a look at the manual.
I’ve checked the handbook and the tank heaters remain operational if turned on and the ignition is started. The heater is also linked to the level sensors in the two tanks so only operates when there is water in them.
That’s what I suspected. I believe they also only activate once the external temperature drops below 4*c and then switch off once it reaches 8*c
@@NemesisofSparta yes, you turn them on and then they react to the water level and the external temperature.
Hi, really enjoying your Trekker adventures. I’ve been interested in the shorter model since its launch and had the opportunity to have a look at one recently. I wonder if you could answer a few questions as my local dealer had no idea and no interest in finding out. I thought the motorhome and Campervan industry was going through a hard time? Maybe not as even on a very quiet Tuesday afternoon Leisureword were not interested in showing me the Trekker and X they had available on site for sale. Anyway I digress.. can the leisure battery be charged by the vehicle alternator and how well is the van insulated? It has heated tanks so I assume it has decent winterisation/ insulation. Thanks and look forward to your next video.
@scottde3810 thanks for your feedback and following. The leisure battery is charged by the engine, plus the EHU and solar. The engine battery is also charged the same way. The van system is great and handles all that for you, deciding what needs to be charged and how. The control panel shows what is being charged and by what route.
@scottde3810 with regard to insulation we haven't tried it in real cold weather yet but this weekend should start to give it a good test. In development the van has apparently been tested down to some very cold temperatures.
