The opposums pull themselves up on one of the lawn chairs on the back porch, then onto a table to eat cat food and drink water. The cats are literally laying in chairs and they don't care at all that an opossum is eating their food and drinking from their water bowl. My back yard is ultra clean but the critters have plenty of messy back yards to live in. They have my yard down as a good dining place at night.

Why are YOU such an ignorant jerk who doesn't understand animal behavior??

Those were warning swats by the cat. The cat wasn't trying to attack the opossum. My cameras catch an amazing number of animal interactions (very few videos are ever released by me) and I have never seen a cat attack an opossum. The cats, including the one in this video, ignore the opposums when they are on the ground.

Maybe because they can't cite the owners unlike animal control. In texas a peace officer can't cite someone for a misdemeanor outside their presence. They don't see the attack they can't cite it. And no video does not count as "in presence", courts have already ruled on it. What would you like the police to do. And technically nothing here is a violation of penal code. City ordinance sure but police still can't cite for that for same reason as above. However animal control are able to do a lot more and CAN cite for it. So the only reason a police offocer would be needed is for that case someone is injured and they need to secure the scene for ems to get to the injured party

@@drakester12798 At least one Lubbock Police Department officer should have been dispatched to watch the dogs until someone from Lubbock Animal Services arrived. There are lots of police officers out on the streets; there aren't too many Lubbock Animal Services officers available. The City of Lubbock would have been in a very negative position had a child been attacked after 911 was informed of the aggressive nature of the pit bulls. You're correct when it comes to the police showing up AFTER something happens . . . rather than showing up to PREVENT something from possibly happening.

@@drakester12798 In Lubbock, Texas, police officers can and do cite owners for having dogs off leash. They've got their ticket quotas to fill for the month. LOL

From January 1, 2024, through September 30, 2024, there have been 839 dog bite cases reported to Lubbock Animal Services. Guess which type of dogs are involved in most of them? The word "pit" is somewhere in the type of dog involved. It's against the law for dogs to be running loose. It isn't against the law for me to take daily walks.

and what has the animal control office DONE to prevent the dog from being loose? anything? any FINES to the owner? take the dog away?

@@Lauren-vd4qe I submitted a City of Lubbock Open Records Request on October 8, 2024 and quickly received the Lubbock Animal Services report. A failure to restrain citation was stuck on the front door of the residence on October 6, 2024 along with a door tag advising that more citations will be issued if the problem occurs again.

@@Lauren-vd4qe I wish it did, but I think it's closer to $50.00. I'm going to check on that and find out what the fine is.

I emailed Lubbock Animal Services (on October 10, 2024) and received an immediate reply to my question concerning a failure to restrain (a dog) citation -- first offense. It's $326.00. Wow, that puts some bite into letting a dog roam.

I am going to have quite an interesting Lubbock Police Department video to release at a later time. Can't comment on it now, but the officer's official report doesn't match the video. I bet you're enjoying the police problems I'm having and are waiting for me to join a radical anti-police protest. LOL

The fine was $147.00. Beware walkers and joggers! The Lubbock Police Department officers are out to daycare the public with their keen knowledge of lawbreakers. LOL

I did not. There is no law stating that juveniles can't go from vehicle to vehicle in the middle of the night on both sides of a street. Usually there is a reason why they're going from vehicle to vehicle at night. LOL

@@charliemccarthy5854 I don't know. I walk by that spot twice each morning and both police officers were leaving at 5:55 A.M. on July 25, 2024. They may have been doing their end of shift computer work at that time. The juveniles were not around when the officers left. That side of the street is home to continual police calls for domestic disputes, fights, vehicle burglaries, vehicle thefts, and occasional gun shots.

No curfews in Texas as of September 1. 2023. Juveniles are free to roam all over Texas and unless they get caught in the act of doing something, they're untouchable by law enforcement.

That's the first time I've had a fox come into the garage. Now I'm wondering if the fox will use the cat door if I have the garage door all the way down. I've never seen any negative reactions between cats and foxes on my cameras or out on my walks.

Until about April 2024, I always checked her hiding spots if she wasn't visible to me before I drove away. If I couldn't locate her, I would pop the hood and be sure she wasn't in the engine compartment. Now I'm back to looking for her before I start the vehicle and I have a new place to look for those few times I can't locate her.
