This is a great video! We are doing the Blue Heron Bridge this weekend and decided to fit in this dive also after seeing your wonderful video. Thanks!
That's awesome, thanks :) I still have to get up to Blue Heron Bridge, have fun!
Me too!
Can't wait to learn to snorkel with yaal!
Great. You guys would use less energy and hang down a little longer with a small amount of weight. Good job
Thanks for the tip! I use weights but they were new to diving here :)
Amazing
Thank you!
Glad I found your channel!! Beautiful video!! I love snorkeling!!
Thanks for the encouragement!
Very beautiful D... You doing a great job, blasting the net ! The house is really digging the vibes!🐟👍
Hi Diana, I'm glad you are seeing my other stuff, thank you!
Hi Dreams.. this popped up on my phone. wonderful video , very chill. I did turn off sound.. only cus I was listening to Moody Blues "nights in white satin". I'll watch for more! 🐟 Thanks
Lol I love that song and thank you :D
Very nice music ❤❤❤❤❤well done ❤❤❤❤
Thank you! I'm glad that you liked it :D
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ beautifull ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
What a wonderful and enjoyable video!
Thanks!! I'm glad that you liked it ::D
Pretty good stuff!!!! I'll be down that way in a couple of weeks and have never been in the area but have spent a lot of time in the water. I guess I'll just swim out till I see something?
Sort of - it depends where you start at. Most of ft laud and pompano has reef bands. The first is usually just past the inner buoys. The second one is 600-900 feet out. There is sand in between. Not much in the sand but you can see tarpon and rays. Swim out to the 1st or 2nd reef band to see stuff. At anglins Pier it's 600 ft out on the south side and it's beautiful :D
Poor baby ,how likely will it survive on its own after its been hit? Do turtles usually not survive after this happens? 😢
I wondered too and evidently it depends on whether any vital organs get damaged and whether the shell gets crushed in such a way that it outs pressure on something. If neither of those things happen, It turns out that the shell itself can heal. That turtle was doing better the last time that I saw it :)
Why is he speaking so BADLY!!!!!!!
If you mean me, it's a combo on being really new at it plus not knowing how to edit audio that well yet. I'll do my best to improve : D
Wow visiblity is great. Where I swim in california is so murky.
Visibility is awesome most days between June and September here!
Do you dive in the kelp forests? I have always wanted to do that...
@snorkeldreams I've gone to catalina island and seen some beautiful kelp forests. Laguna beach is supposed to be great for snorkeling, but I haven't had a chance to go yet.
Definitely should make that place a no take reserve
I get letting everyone enjoy the reef, but you can tell that it has been fished to the point where there are only juvenile fish left. I think they should do like the fish, and let people fish only when the population is strong enough
THE WAY THE TANG MOVE ACROSS THE REEF IS REALLY AWESOME TO WATCH . THE SCHOOL SEEMS TO BE ROLLING ALONG BACK TO FRONT . THE PIER IS FINALLY SERVING GOOD PURPOSE,ALLOWING DIVERS TO ENJOY THE REEF.
I agree about the tanga, they are like underwater herds :) I'm glad that they aren't fishing from the pier too, it's awesome to see the fish and know that they are safe for now!
I like people who post these beautiful shots.
Thanks! More to come, what sort of content would you like to see?
@@snorkeldreams All of it. It's captivating and the mystery of what may be seen adds to the excitement. I'm not a diver and seeing people who can take amazing shots is pretty cool. It's very vibrant. I wonder if it's as active around there at night on the pier? Scary and fascinating I bet.
My family and I use to go to the hotel to the left of the pier when you look back to the beach. We went from the 1950's thru the late 90's. I used to fish that pier for hours on end. Loved it. Then the hotels converted to time share and condos. Great memories and great video!
thanks! just south of the pier there is a place called the Windjammer, and they have a beach cam. I use it almost every day to check the waves out and see if its a good dive day. its a good way to get a dose of live beach if you aren't here right now... windjammerresort.com/Webcam
Man this the shit I want to do before I leave this place.
Snorkeling itself isn't hard, lots of people have to get past fear of open water and animals tho :)
Never hurts to be educated... thanks?
lol I'm trying to learn to use shorts to link people to my main videos, and youre welcome! (I really want to see an 8 foot tarpon?!?!)
Happy New Year! Hope to see you soon... we'll keep watching!
@dianalong2024 happy new year! I'm waiting on a 1.5mm wetsuit to show up and then I'll try out the water in the winter (I know it's 76 degrees but that's way cold for me, lol)
Hey! A pal and I came here twice to spear before, got a big sized barracuda further past the pier and some nice snappers, however the last time we went a police boat came by (it was the weekday and there was no one else near the pier) and told us we had to be further away from the pier, which I know the law ofcourse, but assumed because typically everyone goes under the pier, aswell as the fact that it was inoperable made me think it was okay to go. Is it legal for us to swim there, and the cop was giving me false news? Or does it not matter wether or not the pier is actually in operable condition
I haven't gotten any pushback about diving there, but during another weekday there was a kayak under the Pier and there was a state police officer asking if we knew anything about them. Im pretty sure they were spearfishing but didnt actually see anything but the kayak and a couple of masks. As I said no, I never found out why he was asking. In most places you can't spear within 100 yds of shore but I will try to find out more detailed info.
@@snorkeldreams awesome. Cheers man!
I found out the rules for spearfishing and you can't do it under the pier... myfwc.com/fishing/saltwater/recreational/spearing/
@@snorkeldreams a damn shame. They've been trying to crack down on people swimming too
Tarpon are baitfish for hammerhead sharks.
I know they like to eat stingrays. Supposedly, they use their hammer to pin them and then bite them
@snorkeldreams that is also true. The last few tarpon i caught were almost ceremoniously bitten in half or more by hammerheads . Big ones too
Wow! That's wild and a little scary
And nose rings
Lol the nose ring stays under the mask, I usually take my guages out tho
Trans fish🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️ WTF GOING ON
Lol about 500 species of fish change sex for various reasons. Some male to female, others female to male. It's pretty common down there :D
@@snorkeldreams me being stupid lol. Appreciate this video. I defiantly learned something new
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it :D
Nice video . Makes me remember Jacques Cousteau with his red bennie .
I remember his show (a little) from when I was young. One of his sons, Jean, dedicated the LBTS Shipwreck Snorkel Trail that is just south of this pier :)
What are you wearing during your snorkeling?
these days I usually wear a one piece rash guard. its like a wetsuit but its not hot like neoprene, the water here can get to 88 degrees. you cant wear most sunblock because it interferes with coral reproduction, so if you don't cover your skin then you will burn over and over which can lead to skin cancer. There can also be MANY stinging jellyfish in the water so the rash guard protects your skin (they slide right off instead of stinging you). I also wear a blow up flotation vest with a whistle in case I get exhausted or taken by the current. I wear a weight belt so I can stay down without bobbing up like a cork and I wear a titanium dive knife. Its not for sharks, sharks are faster than my ability to pull a knife, its in case I get tangled in fishing line so I can cut it before I drown.
@@snorkeldreams Thank you very much!
@@snorkeldreams What brand is your one-piece rash guard?
My rash guard is out of stock, but here is where I got it... www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D14M2YB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&_encoding=UTF8&tag=snorkeldreams-20&linkCode=ur2&linkId=0b9385022bb9354e9537fbc2eb5e5d5b&camp=1789&creative=9325 this one doesn't have a hood but it has the hand and foot straps, I would try this next: www.amazon.com/COPOZZ-Wetsuit-Mens-Womens-Youth/dp/B073PW7NMP/?th=1&_encoding=UTF8&tag=snorkeldreams-20&linkCode=ur2&linkId=ebc3c9e66699899bdd766cfd06038ad6&camp=1789&creative=9325
I've had such a tough week. And am in bed recovering from stomach bug 😮. So glad I found your channel. My stress started going down immediately. The ocean and music is super relaxing. ❤ I've snorkeled in Navarre. Hope you do that area sometime.😊
I'm glad that you are getting better. Interacting with sea life decreases my stress too! I'll look into Navarre and if I can go then I'll make a video, thanks for the idea :D
Ive seen other florida pier videos where the water was full of tiger sharks. Werent you worried to encounter one?
Yes, kind of :D I am planning to take several dive trips with a company that lets you cage dive and free dive among sharks under their supervision. I do know that sharks are misunderstood and I am hoping that learning from them will teach me how to deal with sharks wisely. Sadly, the shark populations are collapsing in many areas due to overfishing and probably due to climate change, so it is pretty rare to see big sharks here while snorkeling.
@@snorkeldreamsmaybe that's why we are seeing more attacks and also the Orcas are chasing them away.
Great video!
Thank you! I'm glad that you enjoyed it :D
So beautiful.
Thank you! 😊
Super vidéo thank you c est très beaux
Thank you!!!
Hi! I’m going to the area mid December. I have no snorkeling gear but I am dedicated to snorkeling here. Of course, I’ll purchase a mask and flippers. What would you recommend? How long does it take to swim out to this area where the majority of the video was filmed? Thank you!
If you are new then get a regular mask, not a full face mask. Get longer flippers. They don't have to be freediving fins, just don't get the little frog ones. Get a dry top snorkel, they keep water out until you learn. After a few dives learn about weight belts and maybe get one. They make it easier to stay down but practice without them first. The reef at Anglins Pier is about 600 ft out on the south side of the Pier. Have fun and be safe
@@snorkeldreams thank you so much for your comment!! I appreciate it ❤️
The city won’t fix the pier?
Sooner or later yes but the army corps of engineers has to get involved so we have a while
I can't get past the pink hair.
Lol, as you get older it can be hard to not be invisible to people. People either like or hate the pink hair but they notice it :D
@@snorkeldreams I did notice it.
So a snook is like a human because most males hit maturity and become a female
Thank you! Glad you liked it :)
beautiful images, keep me relaxed and forget about thalasophobia. colors and movements are so nice, thks!!!
Phenomenal video! I wasn’t expecting such quality and narration!

Just WOW. Amazing video and despite what I know about fish and reefs yours had info I didn't know and amazing scenes.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it !!
The title had me thinking about the other kind of predators…
Bigger animals or humans?
Nice vid but I gotta say i'm not a big fan of that Hog Ring in your nose. You are Way too old to look like a gromit and it comes across as creepy at best. Time to start thinking about closing down your gauges also my dude. Aside from that Happy Snorkeling.
Glad you like the video :D
I did enjoy it very much. Time for me to get back in the water to decompress from the troubles of the week. P.S. watch out for fishing lines bro, I had a scary situation with some 50 pound Mono once but luckily I always keep a small knife on my leg. @@snorkeldreams
That was so beautiful. So much life swimming, beautiful
Thank you! I never get tired of it. Everything is beautiful, lots of the animals are curious, it's a great way to recharge :D
Very entertaining. Great footage too
Thank you, I'm glad that you liked it
all I see is lotsa delicious fish that i can eat
Those crevalle jacks were big and fat and people say that snook is really tasty :)
It reminds me of mister ray from finding Nemo
lol, I see a lot of rays there and I love to watch them
Anglin’s pier is in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea btw…nonetheless, diving this pier is sensational ever since the section was torn out. I dive here all,the time. It’s beautiful!
Yes, it's something! It's one of the best dives around here

Be wise, be safe. If you spent time in the water boating in FL, you never swim, jump in or otherwise in Marinas. And for God sake, don’t swim at piers where people are fishing. I live on a tidal river two miles inland from the sea. No swimming here unless you enjoy Bull Sharks.
Thanks! Fortunately no one fishes here now. There was just a saltwater croc under the Pompano Pier to the north, scary!
@@snorkeldreams Yikes! Now that will give you pause! I have not seen one gator in our tidewater, but just know they’re there! It’s a joy to watch the Dolphins, but on occasion you’ll see that one fin, that is bigger and does not belong. Glad you know the rules of the road 👍
I am no expert, you never know what you are going to see down there :)
