Not a runner. Bought these for an upcoming Disney trip with lots of walking. I have a bad back with weak ankles. Purchased the cloudrunner 2 wide at first because they seemed to be more sturdy, keeping my ankles straight. Plus they were wide for my wide feet. I also tried out the monster2 in the store, and couldn’t believe how soft they were to walk on, but didn’t seem to be quite as stable, which I’d be concerned with my back, which is why I ended up bringing the cloudrunner 2 home that day. Ended up ordering the monster2 because I couldn’t get over how soft they were to walk on and I’m hoping they keep me stable enough on my long walking days.

What were the best running shoes for beginners? How did the Ghost 16 do?

New Balance has for several years now, been working hard to counter my decades of loyalty to their shoes...I think they've finally done it. Called NB three different times, out of frustration of not finding a replacement with as wide a toe box as the 840 V4/5s. Got different suggestions on each call, none of which seemed to address what I was looking for in the 840s. They did suggest the 840 F, which I find to be a completely different shoe, and not in a good way. Threw them away before I got hurt.

Neutral shoe wearer who likes to run in shoes that are just a touch "sloppy". Was in love with this shoe before I even got to the gate. Ran a cruisy 45 mins fresh out of the box. Felt like I could have run for hours..

Im confused about the sizing do i need to size up or is it true to size??

As a beginner completed my first 5k need something to give me a little bounce motivation . Loving the look of these beauties. Are they true to size ?

I am so upset!!! This is not good!! I have worn the 840 for years!!!!! Fresh foam is trash!!!!

I went to barefoot shoes and world of a difference, Hykes Flex are my new favorite shoe. I will never go back to regular shoes.

I don't run. I like New Balance so I can get X wide. I like the 840 because it is so vented. My feet stay cool, no stink. What can I replace it with? I don't understand most of the things you said here. Stacks, flex, 4mm. What? I want shoes that don't pinch and have good ventilation.

five generations over 2 decades. Thats how it used to be done and should still be now. Now each model lasts like 8 months before it's gone forever. such a gimmick and con, running shoe world. Why do we need new models every 8 to 12 months? It's absurd. Every new model can't be called an iteration because theyre often drastically different in fit and feel. I hate running shoe world yet I love good running shoes. the market is extremely anti consumer and the consumers just eat it.

i didnt like the shoe at all. it was soft but had zero support. i actually had my first running injury in them which was kinda strange.

I'm a little late to the party. I must have bought a pair of the 840s just before they were discontinued. The Brooks Dyad have also been discontinued. I'm trying to find Saucony Echelon in my size. I was 8 2E women's in New Balance and may now be an 8.5. I have a plate in my left big toe. And a bunion plus crooked toes on my right. My old 840s are almost falling apart and I have been trying to find something remotely comfortable. My feet are really not doing well with these beat up shoes but I haven't found any remotely comfortable. It looks like there's an Echelon 8 and 9 - which one would be a good option? Any other recommendations?

New to running, interval run/walk at moment. Thinking a cushion shoe with stability and wider toe box.. I have had Brooks before... curious what you recommend... Im slow, 3-5 miles, and want to avoid injury being new...

Is the review applicable to the mw840 (walking) or just running shoes? I've worn mw840's for years and looking for a replacement

It's too bad the 840 was discontinued. I am a front line worker at a hospital and these were the best ever. I am disappointed. This was a poor decision. Other versions don't work for me. I will keep my old 840 v5 till I retire. 😢

I got these fitted at my local shoe shop which was including video on the treadmill to see my running style, both shop owner and myself preferred this model for my needs (shorter and longer distance, lightweight). Bought them and looking forward to get some training in towards my first half marathon.

My original ON were great with rounder toe box. Then they decided to re-design and ruin like most ladies' shoes. Narrowing the toe box! Recently bought 2 pairs and found that different colors fit differently. Still a fan. Looking forward to trying this new design!

Going from 10mm to 4mm is too dramatic. You guys are hoping to sell more shoes by going low drop and hanging with he "cool kids" which may not work. No one is going to switch from Hoka, tope or altra to NB. I will just keep my Topos if I want a 4mm drop shoe Also heading to Amazon to pick up some 840 V5s

It's time to upgrade by 840V5 and I see there is now the 840F x Foam Fresh - is this the same as the 840F you reviewed in the video? Wasn't sure if Foam Fresh is another model now.
