    good intro to the product, am contemplating over a 4 or 5 bay heh. it's nearly a year since this vid released so you probably already know this by now but incase you don't, you do not need to upgrade the internet connection (as mentioned in the vid) to make use of the 10gb connection for your personal workflow benefits. there are various options. one option is getting the 10gb nic and connecting directly to the computer or a dock the computer plugs in to, though more robust way is upgrading your home switching so all the ports in the chain are 2.5, 5 , or 10g.

      @@kimandtech Many thanks for the quick reply. Asus usually has to issue several firmware updates for new routers B4 they get all the bugs worked out. Don't agree with that way of doing things but they make gr8 routers. Appears they are edging closer to addressing any outstanding issues with the BQ16 Pro. In the meantime I have enabled my router to automatically reboot 1X per week to avoid any random slowdown.

    I do have a two pack BE16 pro and have tested the 6ghz band with same channels, same settings against my be98 pro routers. Both routers were setup and only one unit was being used. I can definitely confirm that the 6ghz band on the BQ16 pro has better range and speeds than my be98 pro. I tested multiple times in the same locations for both routers, using wifiman and openspeed test doing local speed test to my PC that has a 10 gig network card, using my samsung s22 ultra phone. I too do not have any wifi 7 devices yet. My entire home is all wired for 10 gig with 10 gig switches. Asus support honestly is very clueless as are PRETTY MUCH every support from major organizations. And they don't even have any idea about some certain features like AFC on their products. I know dongknows talked to broadcom and asus rep in person and they both said it has AFC from launch. Also MLO is REALLY buggy and has given me massive headaches on this mesh system. It makes everything really unreliable from router restarting on its own, wifi clients disconnecting and having client connected without internet. AND the 2.4 ghz will not show up to most clients unless you change the modulation scheme to "up to msc 7 (802.11n)". I read about this issue on Merlin's forums where they discuss various issues. The telemetry part. Under the administration > firmware upgrade tab, do you have auto firmware and security upgrade turned on? I would disable those. No need. Also go to the policy tab. If you see any "withdraw" option click on it so it stops sharing your network data. I think this is certainly an odd one seeing this happen to more and more routers. I know TP link was sketchy on this stuff too before. I use nextdns as well which is my favorite dns service.

    I just got this system over the weekend and first of all I should say thank you for the video. I was wondering if you have had any issues with the IOT network it seems to be having issues connecting with my iPhone 14 Pro Max connecting to the 2.4 if I connect to the five channel Usually connect right away like normal but some of my devices maybe being older or just has been updated who knows has an issue with it I’m trying not to use the network for my IOT devices, but it seems like some of the devices keep losing connection themselves there’s a work around special firmware, but I believe I’ve heard some other people talking about either the network in general or maybe it was the IOT

    • @kimandtech
      @kimandtech หลายเดือนก่อน

      @NadoJoe Thank you for the comment and sharing your situation! Is your iPhone 14 Pro Max the only one having a problem connecting to the 2.4 GHz? If it is, then it's the device and not the network. However, if other members in your household doesn't have this problem with their iPhone, then it's definitely the network. I didn't have this exact issue, but our Deco BE16000 was giving us so much problem, where the Internet stopped working and I had to re-set up the system a few times because rebooting didn't help. I'd say to do the firmware update and see if that would fix your system. Worst case would be to reset the Deco and set it up from scratch again. If after that, and it still doesn't work to your liking, and you don't want to use the 5 GHz for your iPhone, then return it while you still can. Also, if your previous router system work with this setup, and your devices had no problem then, then it may be the Deco. You can also do an exchange because sometimes there are defects. Would love to hear your results if you've found the fix or decided to change to a different system. Thanks!

      Hello, thank you so much for the information and reply. I have been having all sorts of issues pretty much the IOT network is almost unusable. I might have like five devices that are connected to it so then I started using the Guest network and that started to work a little bit better at least it would connect quicker, but it continues to drop everything. I have multiple switches also and I’m not sure why it would matter when other networks haven’t, but somehow it one of the deco‘s it created the the Vlan I guess because it noticed there was a switch and that one shows hardwired but then the third shows it’s connecting through Wi-Fi, which is kind of weird, even though it’s connected pretty much the same way. So anyways, yeah all sorts of devices continue to go on and off-line. I haven’t done the factory reset yet. I’ll try that, but I had no issues whatsoever before this. The only reason I upgraded was just because it was several years old and the amount of devices connected with sometimes give me problems. When I was speaking about my iPhone 14, I was just stating trying to be on the IOT device 2.4 in order to get the IOT devices to connect was giving me problems like I said very very few actually worked let alone stay on seems like the guest works better but yeah this whole system just seems like a pain in the butt.

      @@kimandtech going through some stuff with tech-support they gave me a beta firmware that has helped tremendously. I haven’t tried anything else with the IOT network yet but what is connected on all of my networks seems to be a lot more stable as I continue to work on some other things since my network is not the easiest let’s just say I’ve got tons of switches and other components and a and a couple devices that I use that changes ethernet to fiber

      @miravida9778 Hello. Thank you for stopping by! Here are the steps I'd take to approach this problem: 1. Is there an error? Is the Status showing Active? 2. If there's no error, and the Status is showing Active, then check on ABM (Apple Business Manager) if the devices are assigned to the Intune MDM profile that you created. If the MDM profile isn't assigned to Intune, you will not see the device/s. Hope that helps! Let me know how it goes!

    Thank you so much Kim, I am looking to upgrade to Mesh Wifi and this is exactly I wanted to know about Tp-Link Deco routers. Did you find any other good secure router?

    • @kimandtech
      @kimandtech หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JazzB-w5v Thank you for the kind comment. To be honest, Mesh WiFi Systems in general seem always to be checking home to their manufacturer. Although the TP-Link Deco BE16000 is the only one I haven't seen traces of this based on my pool of test, but we don't know for how long that would last as a firmware update can definitely change it. However, I've been able to block these traffic from the router and through a DNS filter, or at least it seems that way.

    • @JazzB-w5v
      @JazzB-w5v หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kimandtech Thanks, can it be blocked on TP-Link Deco (that's would be great as these one are the most budget friendly), if yes can you point me in the directions/instructions on how to set it up or if you have a video on your channel explaining this?

    • @kimandtech
      @kimandtech หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JazzB-w5v I didn't get to try blocking with the Deco itself since I was trying to return it before the return window ended. However, I'd recommend looking for a setting with URL Filtering or Web Filtering either on the Deco app or the web portal. If you cannot find this feature, then the other route would be to use a DNS filtering service, like Open DNS and block it on there. OpenDNS is free for home use. I'll have a review up next week for the ASUS Mesh WiFi System, which talks a tiny bit about blocking with OpenDNS. You can skip straight to the Privacy timestamp to check it out once it's posted. Hope this helps! Please let me know how it goes. Thank you!

    Is it true that TP-Link now requires that network SSID names have at least 8 characters? That would prevent us from reusing an existing network name (if it's "too short") and make us redo set-up of many home devices. And network names don't need to be secure because they are visible to the public.

    • @kimandtech
      @kimandtech หลายเดือนก่อน

      @woofinu I have not heard of this. I know TP-Link has a max amount of characters for their SSID but haven't heard of a minimum. When I had the TP-Link in June or July, I was able to set up an SSID with only 3 characters.

      @michaelpopov8649 Thank you for the comment! I've never tried that before, but I think MoCA would most likely work as a wired backhaul, so you mesh network would communicate with each other via that wired backhaul. If you do have your set up, I'd love to hear how it goes for you. Thanks!

    My setup has been TERRIBLE since day 1. It drops connectivity constantly, the nodes disappear and all wifi drops. I am going to return this and go back to my AX11000 Asus router with a single node for ASUS mesh. I need stability more than max speed and these just can't cut it at all.

      @@kimandtech what I don't get: Everywhere you turn for help the first go to is using wired backhaul. However, this is wireless mesh, and the overwhelming majority of consumers won't want or be able to use wired products, that's why they bought wireless mesh in the first place. So if that's the fix people have, that just means TP Link needs to develop their product further.

    Hi Kim! quick question: do you happen to know if I can connect to my NAS and Synology from outside the U.S.? I’ll be living in Peru for a little while, and I’m curious if I can still sync to the main server with my credentials and bring my hard drive along. Just to give you some context, I work with a radio station where we share audio files for collaboration, and since the company is based in the U.S., I want to ensure I won’t run into any issues accessing those audio files on my RAID. Thanks a ton for your help!

      @lisas.cerdafernandez2941 Hi Lisa! Thank you for your question and a little background to help me understand it better. Yes, you can definitely connect to your Synology NAS from outside the U.S. There are 2 ways of doing this: (1) Synology QuickConnect and (2) VPN setup. I currently use the VPN setup with OpenVPN since I want more control of our privacy/security, and I was able to upload my images just fine and view files as needed when I was in Japan. Hope this helps! 🙂

Unplugging and replugging cable fixes it and if not power cycling the device being connected without powering off the router and it’ll correct itself. Good video i saw you have different test severs when you tested your speeds the speedtest app will automatically choose a location for you every time you open the app that's why your speeds where different after every test. I have a question, for things that need wifi such as smart home devices can you force those devices to connect to the 2.4 GHz only or will the ai in the system make them connect to 5 GHz when it doesn't need. Also do you use the 6GHz as well or only have it for the backhaul feature?

    • @kimandtech
      @kimandtech 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @coldshot1611 Thank you for noticing the different speed test servers. Someone else also commented about it. I missed this part when editing and doing my tests. When I checked again after the fact by selecting the same speed test server, the results were still relatively the same as the ones in the video. However, I'll do a better job next time when presenting my speed tests. 😅 As for my smart home devices, I put them on a password protected Guest network because out August Lock was having trouble connecting to the main Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, we couldn't use the 6GHz when we had the system connected for any devices because our devices at that time didn't support the 6GHz. The Wi-Fi backhaul may have used the 6GHz if the units were able to reach each other.
