Jean Harlow,a real Venus! Fletcher Henderson,a Genius of jazz! Thank you!
Very good music and magnificent photos!
Anita Page right? She did had a long life; she was one of the last surviving actresses who had appeared in Hollywood-produced silent movies. She sat for interviews in the 1990s in which she talked about old Hollywood, and many of those interviews can be found on TH-cam.
❤❤❤❤😊
Ambrose version is miles ahead of any other recording.
Agreed!
Where can I hear that?

Do you happen to know the left handed lap steel player's name? Thanks!
Awful speaker intro. Nice music
Замечательно!
Lovely tune for a foxtrot, thank you for posting. Keep em coming
Thank you for this! I was just humming it this morning! Such a treasure!
Fine indeed…
Superb interpretation!for me the great example of what jazz was after "roaring twenties"and before "Swing era"...Five stars!
Exceptionally clean recording! There are nuances in any take by Bob, depending on what he's hollerin! Love this early stuff with the Dixieland feel in the rhythm.
Also released on Banner 32883, Oriole 2787, Perfect 15842, and Romeo 2160.
Excellent take!😁 Fine treatment. Oh when Joe Venuti came in...chef's kiss_😚💖
Babe Russin was a an 18 year old prodigy here!
Victrola disco 78
I've loved jazz and swing all my life but I'd never heard of 'western swing' until today when I read an article about it by chance on wikipedia. I don't think it's a particularly well known genre in England and would probably be dismissed as 'country' by aficionados.
The banjo player was my grandmother's neighbour's cousin's ex-husband's best friend. We were never very close but I'd like to think he dedicated this one to me.
Many don't know this catchy song was written (possibly as early as 1911) by gay composer/performer Tony Jackson, about his boyfriend. Lyricist Gus Kahn and composer Egbert Van Alstyne overheard him performing it in a Chicago nightclub around 1915, and were so taken with it, they offered him $250 for the rights. Later, Kahn re-wrote the lyrics to make them 'more appealing' to heterosexual audiences, with Van Alstyne contributing a line or two. The song was then interpolated into the Broadway musical "A World of Pleasure" (October 1915-January 1916) before being re-used in 'The Passing Show of 1916' where it became a huge hit. Sadly, Tony Jackson would die at just 38 from the combined effects of congenital epilepsy, and acquired cirrhosis of the liver.
Very cute tune! The Ramblers rarely miss!
Wonderful tune and great pictures of the beautiful model(actress?..).thank you!!
Mary Nolan
Superb.
What a beautiful tune. Thank you for uploading
I'm not quite sure but venture to say Miff Mole is playing the trombone!
Nice tune and pictures!
The lead dancer (in black lingerie) is actress Ann Dvorak, who was both a chorine and an assistant choreographer before rising to stardom in 'Scarface' (1932). Eddie Buzzell (the singer) was a musical comedy star on Broadway, before heading to Hollywood where he debuted in 'Little Johnny Jones' (1929). Afterward, he began directing Vitaphone shorts, before moving onto feature films such as the Marx Brothers' 'At the Circus' (1939)
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😊
Pure Hillbilly Jazz-Blues. Bob and Tommy Duncan alternately singing lead. So close to Kansas City Swing that it isn’t even funny
I am only in it for the photos! No, not quite! The music is also good, but the sound quality from 1927 is rather poor here. Is this really an electric recording?
It’s an electrical recording. Plaza/Banner did not have top of the line recording equipment.
@@bluebird3762 Yes, Thank you! I can hear that!
Sass and class thirties style. Feeling down? Just watch this.

Do you have any records by Basil Winston on Empire?
Unfortunately, I do not.
@@bluebird3762 I don't know if I've already enquired about this (sorry in advance if I did), but how do you record your 78s. And what equipment is used.
@@alternateunreleasedshellac505 I record records with Audacity then clean up the sound in Adobe Audition. I’m thinking of trying Izotope soon.
@@bluebird3762 I do the same thing, but have a problem balancing the sound. I get too much digital distortion when using clickrepair. How do you de-noise?
Great little tune for a foxtrot
Nice !
Fantastic music and fantastic photos! Thank you! But it doesn´t sound at all like Benny Goodman to me!
He was a part of the band, not the leader
