more naive stupid foreigners falling for this trap in japan... hilarious...
OK. What did it cost?
Beautiful spacious house, with good layout & views out of most sides of the house! The tatami rooms on the main floor, with the painted sliding doors look fabulous! Some parts of Yamanashi Prefecture are within a (relatively) short train ride into Northwestern Tokyo.
house update ASAP!!!!
i'm afraid this story ended badly
This is lovely and won't need tons of work. Maybe just some insulation in the floors. If there's an access under the floors from outside, you don't even need to tear them up to insulate, just do it a little at a time, taping it all into place as you go.
I recognised your Lancashire accent, as I’m from there myself, North Manchester We visit Tokyo for a month every summer, our son has lived in Tokyo since 1999. His wife is Japanese and he has 2 sons.
Excellent job on the wallpaper, looks clean bright and more contemporary
I would call that colour “mink”
Nobody mentioned the crack😂
Its awesome. I would leave it as is..lol Congrats
How much?
Less than 10 million yen. If you would like to find more details about the house, please check out the episode 10 Q&A video:)
@@gcasajapan beautiful
Good job! Looks amazing. The kitchen looks fine. I just my 10th place in Japan. :) What did you pay?
Thank you for the comment! We paid less than 10 million yen:) 10th place, Wow! Good for you. If you want to find out more details about the house, please watch Ep. 10 Q&A video.
Such a beautiful house and such a good condition. I'm in love with it😍
Thank you for the comment! More update on the renovation is coming up (hopefully) soon. Keep tuned if you’re interested:)
G'day guys , just wondered why you didn't buy something within commuting distance of work?
Hi! Thanks for the comment. Since he mostly works from home, we didn’t necessarily have to be very close from Tokyo where he temporarily works at this moment. And you see more houses like this for a good deal outside of the central area!
Was there no episode 2?
There was but we took it down sorry! It was just a video of us cleaning the house before the renovation.
Nice house!
Do you guys have any experience with using the propane or gas heating system in Japan? I realize you're using the different setup but I'm curious to know if you've got any comparisons, such as price, performance, etc. Thanks for sharing your experience, by the way! I know from experience that it's not easy to actually do stuff and actually shoot it to share.
Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately, I can’t help as our house only uses propane gas for the stove in the kitchen. We used kerosene heaters over the winter. People say Toshi gas is cheaper than propane gas but I’ve no experience in that area. Sorry I can’t help!
i love that lay stick flooring
Thanks both, for the Q&A’s. 20 Years is quite a spell to live in Japan. The name pronunciation is quite often spoken incorrectly as “Stefan” instead of Stephen. We may at some point buy a property in JPN. Great artwork buy the way!🙌
Thank you for the comment. Again sorry about the mispronunciation😅Sounds exciting! We are not experts but let us know if you wanted to know particular information about buying a property here. Thanks!
Wow! This house has a lot of potential. I have seen many people buying houses in Japan, but this is the best one.
Thank you for the comment. Glad to hear you say that. Hope you enjoy our renovation journey!
Very resourceful and creative! I hope you’re both doing good and the house is coming along nicely 🤙🏻
Thank you! More updates on the house should be coming up soon:)
Cool stuff, we are renovating an Akiya in yamaguchi. We had the option to get rid of the stuff ourselves and reduced the house by 1M yen.
Thank you for the comment! Nice to hear from people in the seminar situation. We actually suggested the same but the seller (the daughter of the previous owner) wasn’t opened for the idea of us cleaning the house ourselves. Good luck with your renovations!
@@gcasajapan interesting, the agent brought it up before we asked. I bought a little Kei truck for $1,200 USD. Cost around 300 ish to take to the recycle center.
@@cocolenchoraw It’s definitely more cost saving to do it yourself for sure! In the end it all worked out for us though. It would’ve taken us months to clean the whole house but instead we were able to jump right in to the renovation.
Where did you buy the flooring? I also live in Japan and would like to try out this flooring.
Please check out below link. We ordered on Amazon JP. Hope it works for you too. Cheers!
Where are you originally from in England? Yorkshire?
Thank you for the comment. Your question will be answered in Q&A in episode 10:) Please stay tuned!
i really like your videos, keep going with the good work.
Is there something wrong with the actual wood floor that you chose wood stickers? Thanks for sharing
Thank you for the comment! We will be answering your question in episode 10:)
Amazing 😻💪🏻
You’re a good team 💪🏻🤙🏻. It’s always nice to see your videos each week and seeing what it’s like to do-up a house in Japan as a couple. I’m thinking of doing a similar thing in the future so your series is great for me and thanks for putting this out there mate🙏. When do you think you’ll move in?
Thank you for watching our channel every week. We appreciate your comment and support! Your question will be answered in Q&A in episode 10:) Please stay tuned!
Im a former Costco employee and I can tell you they have affordable furniture in spring and late summer/fall before Halloween and Christmas decorations.
Thanks for the comment and useful tips! We are aiming to get a gazebo for our front yard. Fingers crossed for some good deals next summer in Costco.
You’ll get sick of it that was experience with the old houses here in Japan but keep pushing through its well worth the time now.
Your house looks quite new....what age is it? Lots of questions but I'll keep watching and maybe the answers will appear along the way. cheers
Thanks for the comment! It’s roughly 37 years old:) We will be doing a Q&A in the future. Any questions you have, please let us know! Cheers
Good content, enjoying the watch.
I like that patterned ceiling. It looks like pressed tin found in a lot of Victorian homes. Wishing you both a terrific festive season. Regards from Australia. Ho Ho Ho.
Great to hear! Hopefully we will be able to share more progress in upcoming episodes. You too have a lovely holiday:)
Nice work mate. Hope you both have a lovely Christmas 🎄. White ceilings give me good feelings- will you be releasing that on Spotify? 👏😂.
Thank you for the comment! I hope you too have a lovely festive season. More songs to come…I think🤣🤣
Even the paper wallpaper looks nearly as thick as the fabric wallpaper As for painting the ceiling, you can probably do it the issue more is that you're gonna have to spend a lot of time to paint to get into all those little crevices in the design. I'm not even sure a high knap roller would be able to get into that enough?
I think you should strip the ceiling paper as well if possible, but anyway keep up the good work. Good Luck!!!
Great work. Keep it up.
Keep it up, your dream house is coming.
Singing at 6.30am. I'm exhausted just thinking about it. Question? Is it the camera angle or are you taller than some of the doorways? All the best, Michelle from Australia.
I believe it’s the angle. His height is about the same with the doorways or a bit taller. Thank you for the comment:)
@@gcasajapan Thanks for the reply. Am enjoying your videos. Look forward to the next. Regards from Australia.
how much did you pay for that, let me guess 6million yen?
At least it's a real toilet and not having to squat over a hole in the floor.
nice looking home
That's a really nice heater lol that would run you back a lot more here in the states.
Looks good. I look forward to following the updates. Possibly you can show and visit the supply chain visits - hardware stores etc.
I hope one day I will have a house in Japan as well with my Japanese gf of 5 years.
