I am a life long train enthusiast and enjoy passenger trains. My Dad worked as a conductor on The New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad and Amtrak until he retired in 1974. My Grandfather was a signalman and worked in and around Boston for so many years.

My first visit with the "new" Amtrak Floridian NB Train 40. Tampa's Union Station is a terminal so Amtrak must back in to arrive... First time I've seen sequential numbered locomotives in a long while...

Amtrak 92, The Silver Star in Ybor City Tampa. At the Neve Wye where the train turns North before it begins backing into the terminal at Tampa's Union Station. WOW!!! So close! There had to be an issue at the crossing as it stopped and started it's backing in a couple times. It gave me more train time!

I waited for over 30 minutes standing out in the beautiful fresh air just north of Vitis Junction and then the signal changed. 3 engines had me smiling along with a horn hello made my morning. Then it was off to Plant City,FL

I could see the catenary towers and I knew we were merging onto the NE Corridor. I was hoping for a passing train in the moment but to no avail. Not disappointed after all I AM ON A TRAIN! LOL

Is this train still running? Amtrak told me if I wanted to travel from Tampa, FL to Saint Paul, MN I would need to take a bus from Tampa to Orlando and catch the train there. I cannot do that.
russam100 That is because this train arrives Washington too late to make a guaranteed same-day connection to the westbound train to Chicago (the trains are just over an hour apart). A second train that stops in Orlando but not Tampa gets to Washington early enough. Your options are to: 1. Use the bus from Tampa to Orlando. 2. Stay overnight in Washington or New York. 3. Book separate tickets from Tampa to Washington and Washington to St. Paul. The connection in Washington is made about 75% of the time, but Amtrak is not responsible for alternate transportation if you miss it.
