Great sound and control!! However, your left wrist could be straighter and that would improve your playing even further (lifting your scroll ever so slightly would help). Nice playing overall though :)

That section is like a mini cadenza. There is virtually no rule for what he can and cannot do there, as long as it has intent and makes musical sense. For his interpretation, I believe the speeding spiced up the overall flow of the cadenza leading up to the heroic recapitulation. It most certainly added to the virtuosic and flashy feeling a cadenza should give. Although he isn't a master yet, assuming all this was his intention, his "speeding" is more than justified.
