Tom has a research interest in the lived experiences of youth and professional footballers and coaches can influence the development of psychosocial skills and characteristics. More recently, Tom has engaged in coach development activity within professional squads working with players and staff.
James Barraclough (UCLAN)
James is currently at the later stages of a doctorate in elite performance, examining how psychosocial skills can be integrated into coaching through session design. He has had two papers published on the subject with a third currently under review (collaborating with Tom Mitchell). In addition, he has 20 years' experience in coaching football (10 years in academies) alongside delivering psychosocial support to individual athletes and teams combined with a lecturing role over the past 15 years.
