My brother was like Trevor back in the early 1990s. He looked and dressed uncannily like him. He was expelled from school way before he even sat any exams. Was on pub watch before he was even old enough to drink. And in and out of court constantly. He was corrupted by adult national front skinheads while he was on pub watch. He sat with them on the church steps outside the town centre on weekends. They were all banned from the pubs and they corrupted him. Invited him to national front rallies and he listened to skinhead music. God knows how but he avoided prison. these days he is a totally normal married father of 4 children. He’s not racist and looks back on those days with disbelief of his mentality, and just sees a rebellious teenager influenced by the wrong crowd. I asked him how he’d feel if his eldest lad walked through the door looking like him back then. He really put my poor parents through some shit!

i am from 1965 so this is so funny. Tim Roth, with no formal training, this is his first acting role. An absolute phenom, with the kind of talents that can’t be taught. lol.

Brilliant film. I was only 7-8 when this shite was going on. After my mum we moved because of all the rubbish...we moved to Cambridge then in 86 moved to the States, Long island ny. My dad met a woman from ny and we moved for a better "life" but i remember my older brothers hanging around the good, the real skin heads. They weren't skin heads but till cool with them.

The way he paces from room to room, very atmospheric.

Absolute classic of a film. However, if you watch closely, its got nothing to do with skinheads and is really a critique on the human condition, in particular, in the built environment. You get some clues, for example, in the job centre. There is a 'normal' person, its actually him, its just it wouldn't make a good film if it was done that way. Just like Lolita, that changes a key facet of the main lead to emphasise a point, ie underage, and giving the key away in the last chapter, 19, would not have made the book memorable or interesting. Of course, in this film, the hardest part is the reality of how hard life really is once hge is in the cell and gets given a kicking. A fate thousands of young men turning old face every day, living alone in their flats (cells). Another telling clue is how when introduced to other people in the crenter, he goes into a room on his own and stares in trhe corner (if I recall) , in short, none of his actions are what real skinheads would have done. However, the screenplay is incredibaly powerful, thus maintain a very high degree of suspensioin of disbelief. Grade A film worth watching again and again really. Especually if your a white man in one of our countries open prisons, ie living in a flat on your own, for your own crimes, for which YOU ARE NOT ASHAMED. Surely if you had listened to your case worker you wouldn't be there now.
