We were headed from hiking at the tunnel to dinner in Idaho Springs. I looked into South Boulder Creek Canyon as we passed Rollinsville and noticed a ton of smoke coming from the tracks near our house. We turned back to check on the situation and were shocked to find a fiery Union Pacific engine - part of an oil tanker train at the bottom of our lot. We called 911 and Union Pacific - it seemed they might not have been aware that their train was on fire!!! About 15 emergency vehicles responded. It looked like the 4th of July parade down in Rollinsville! We texted all the neighbors, whiskey was poured and drones flew. We watched the fire burn itself out just as the fire fighters arrived on foot. All's well that ends well!
