In today’s video I talk a little bit about our installation of Everlast Advanced Composite Siding. It’s a lap siding with a 6 7/8” reveal that is rigged, durable, and colored all the way through. Once the starter strip is leveled and installed, the interlock of the first piece of siding can be placed in the channel and loose nailed. The next lateral piece can then be cut, put into place and screwed together at the butt end with a bracket and short screws that penetrate the siding, but not the exterior sheathing of the house. The next vertical row can then be installed staggering seams (keeping them away from windows and doors). The siding meets pocketed trim around doors, windows and at all inside and outside corners. For expansion and contraction there is to be a 1/4” gap left at all trim, j blocks and corners.
We chose this siding because it never has to be caulked or painted is colored all the way through and has tremendous durability and resistance to sun fading. Although time consuming, it was really very easy to install and will hopefully last a very long time.
