Michael Form, Solos for recorder, Johann Sebastian Bach: French Suite No. 2 BWV 813
มุมมอง 9K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Of all Johann Sebastian Bach's French Suites, No. 2 probably works best as a monodic piece, especially the Allemande, Courante and the two Menuets, where much of the harmonic content is already implemented in the right-hand melodic line of the original harpsichord version. The remaining movements (Sarabande, Air and Gigue) are much more difficult and require radical decisions. The Gigue, in par...

Almost half a century ago the Japanese publisher Zen-On Music edited Frans Brüggen’s arrangements of “11 movements from the SONATAS AND PARTITAS for violin solo” which have accompanied me for decades. Brüggen’s intention was to provide “studying material of high musical quality” which was not meant to be used for public concert performance. Personally, I have always felt inspired by the followi...

Michael Form, Solos for recorder, Johann Sebastian Bach: French Suite No. 3 BWV 814

Exactly a year ago I recorded a series of solo pieces I had arranged from Bach's French Suites. I had been working on these transcriptions for many years and had performed them on several occasions before deciding to take this final step. At first glance, playing some of Bach's greatest harpsichord music on a solitary recorder seems impossible, even sacrilegious, and yet if we look closely at B...

Orquesta Barroca Simón Bolívar, conductor: Michael Form, live from Teatro Teresa Carreño, Sala José Felix Ribas, Caracas (Venezuela), 21 March 2024 Schubert is said to have said of his Octet D 803 that he wanted to pave the way for the great symphony with this work. However, even the early string quartets, which were intended for performance in the family circle, seem to have been designed with...

I have been practicing another transcription of this work and the main challenge is deciding where to breathe so as not to disturb the flow of the lines. You made some excellent decisions. By the way, I take it you are playing an a=392 alto. Who made it and is it a copy of a specific instrument?
I think I'll require a voice flute next :D. Great job
Wonderful! A very inspiring and inspired performance to an equally, truelly imaginative piece of music.
Michael, bravo. The first movement is transcendental. From the first note you managed to pass the whole atmosphere of the movement - not a lot of musicians can do that. You also didn't fall into being too expressive in the sense that you deliver a lot of force but instead you project tenderness. such oprojection is harder on the recorder and not many players are doing it these days. BRAVO! I was really moved!
It's beautiful. Thank you so much. I understand that it wasn't written for recorder, but that doesn't mean that it isn't glorious on recorder.
wat een techniek!
Is this a tenor recorder?
Bravo! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Beautiful performance, yet again!
Fantastic sonata and excellent performance!
Beautiful. What kind of recorder/ wood are you playing?
E flat alto by Ernst Meyer
@rubreaker1 thank you!
Magnificent! Thank you for putting up this truly inspired performance!
Beautiful :) Voice Flute? By...?
Joel Meyer
Again adding new exciting recorder music to the catalog, thx!
Bravo! Some real fireworks there.
bravo!
Is that recorder in E flat?
Wow!😮 Amazing breath control!
portable but powerful. I did not know this was possible on a recorder but you do very well with this solo violin piece. it must be the most intricate fingering on the recorder and you must really have to calculate your breathing. I really enjoyed this.
A simply marvellous performance. Very inspiring for me as a student. Thank you for sharing.
Just found your channel, such a delight. Thank you!
Beautiful sound. Would be very interested to know who makes your instruments please?
All the instruments I play on these Bach solo recordings are made by Ernst Meyer, Switzerland.
Just wow😮
Breathtaking ❤❤❤

I like the sound of one instrument at the time, the clearness and divine sound of the flute is godlike.
Too much reverb and echo. Would have sounded better in a room with tapestries and rugs and furniture and art and people. I dunno, the way it was meant to be heard?
I agree that there is too much reverb, I am discussing this with my sound ingeneer to see what can be done.
👏👏👏👏
AI driven robots will never be able to play like this, so we will be fine.🤖🤖🤖
A beautiful and great recording! Very well played! I like it very much! Thanks for uploading!
Precioso! 🤗🎶🎶
El mejor, junto a Frans Bruggen.
What a glorioso Bach, what a trippy sound of your flute, what a wonderful musician, thank you 😊
Wonderful playing, thank you so much, will listen and fly❤
magnificent
Beautiful interpretation.
Grande esecuzione. Tecnica e interpretazione da fuori classe! Bach sarà contento! Complimenti sinceri! 🙏💯
It's such a wonderful and beautiful sound~~~!!!❤👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you for your beautiful interpretation of this Bach suite! Could you let us know the recorder you are playing? (I'm guessing it is a "flûte de voix" (recorder in D). Also, if you're willing, it would be interesting to know the builder of the instrument.
All the instruments played in there recordings are by Ernst Meyer Switzerland
@@rubreaker1 Thank you. And what voice (pitch) is the recorder?
très jolie interprétation et très joli son
Yes Yes Yes! Absolutely brilliant!
I love this new(-ish) phenomena of making bastarda transcriptions of Bach's works. Glorious playing, well done!
Excellent!!!
Simply magical!
Exquisito Maestro
Maravillosas interpretaciones ! No es frecuente escuchar una flauta dulce con un sonido tan limpio y afinado. Es posible saber qué marca es esta flauta y de qué madera está hecha ? Gracias, saludos desde Colombia.
