The Overland Track | Part 1
Months ago, my good mate Steve tossed around the idea of embarking on a journey along Australia's iconic Overland Track-the ultimate hiking experience that showcases the breathtaking beauty of Tasmania's wilderness. Intrigued by the opportunity, I immediately jumped at the chance, “Absolutely, I’ll come! And you know who would love this adventure too? My Dad!”
What began as a casual suggestion quickly transformed into an unforgettable expedition for me, my Dad, and our two great friends, Steve and Rob.
Join us as we tackle eight exhilarating days of hiking through some of Australia’s most spectacular countryside. From stunning landscapes to the thrill of the unknown, we’ll share the highs and lows of our journey. And, in true TicTac Aus fashion, expect some hilarious mishaps and unforgettable moments along the way. Get ready for an adventure filled with difficult challenges, amazing Aussie wildlife and, of course, Carnage!
Want to see more? Don't worry I'm working on part 2, but in the mean time check out Steve's video: www.youtube.com/@UC5lpULF5j2AbQN2AnmLBxXA

Hot Summer QLD | CARNAGE!
มุมมอง 2905 หลายเดือนก่อน
During the summer holidays, we like to head north. This is not quite the normal thing to do here in Australia. The further you head north in this country, the hotter it gets; and if you go to far north you'll be stuck in the wet season. This took a toll on us and our vehicles, but we keep pushing. Uncovering some hard core four wheel drive tracks, tackling these was all worth it. We got to see ...

Perry Sandhills? What is that? A lot of people haven't heard of this place, however it's one we'd recommend looking at if your ever in the Sunraysia area. it's a ford no wonder it was abandoned
The reason it filled up with water is because it was parked nose down water gets in through the boot as it has no where else to go, if it was parked the right way around it would have been fine.
worth a fair bit of dosh even in its moldy condition
Sorry girls but you just don't get how long these things take. Settle down & make some sandwiches.
Great job Zak. Can’t wait to see what damage the currawongs did 😂
I'm in mildura hopefully see this on the road
Nice score! Glad to see a saved falcon!
CMOOOOON WHERE THE UPDATE??!!!
6k frm nz
Give us an update vid mate! Cmon!!
Can you reveal, how much you paid for this, so so so so curious. I had a AU2 XR8, same specs. Then i had a T3 (TE50) 5.6L. Sold that to go travelling. I now cry over videos like this. 10-13k i would of taken it. I would clean it up, properly detailed, put a K&N panel filter in it, hurricane headers and a exhaust that has a nice note but isnt stupid loud, and just enjoy it.
😅
So glad I came across this mate - great to see a young fella so passionate!
St Helens is so beautiful, can't wait to go back! Binalong bay is gorgeous to
Well done Zak and Gary. 👍
Nicely done, i had one of these. Awesome cars, enjoy!
Great to see the old girl getting a new lease of life
This was just gorgeous my friend!
Those series3 xr8s with the handbuilt 220kw engine are very rare now. It's great that you have saved it when running properly they go really well and with a decent exhaust they are best sounding Ford V8. I personally would have paid about 12 grand for it as it was. Once restored which will cost roughly 6 to 8 grand they do sell for 20 grand plus. If you don't mind me asking what the name of the engine builder?
Thank you for your comment Yusuf. Do you know how many of these cars where made like this one? I didn't realise they where so rare. The engine builder was J Neves.
@tictacaus1554 There was around 1500 made in the series 3 in total. Roughly 350 were manuals and the rest automatics. That particular car you have with the momo steering wheel and shifter the leather interior and premium sound is the best combination. Its had all the options ticked.
LOL why?
Love it! I noticed the 220 badge on the boot lid, I might be wrong but I believe they were all hand built 347 strokers, they are a special AU for sure and with low k's that's one to hold onto.
The only stoker engines were in the persuit 250 utes and the T3 series. The series 3 xr8 and the late series 2 also had the handbuilt 220kw engine. They were a 5.0 302 windsor engine with heads cam intake and exhaust all modified by tickford.
Great Score mate. the wheels are standard that's an XR8 Rebel. Have seen just the body kit sell for $2000 plus. Wheels $1500 plus. you do the math on the value. if you paid under 5k i think you stole it haha
5000
That's tricky to say on price, so much potential and lots of parts are in great condition. Maybe 5k as found, but I could imagine paying more if there's definitely no engine issues and very little to no rust. All fixed up maybe worth 15k? Auto is a detractor, but the leather, Momo wheel, Azzuro alloys I think they're called, and last 220kw engine all add up, and blueprint of course... But I wouldn't worry about that, these cars are great to keep long term regardless of what they're worth! Personally I'd just hot rod it a little. Headers and exhaust, tune, maybe a shift kit. Bit like an old muscle car but with fuel injection and a bit more modern interior and handling!
Cheers Sean, for your comment. I think you're spot on with the value. I'd like to hot it up a bit, but not anything over the top.
What a score that's sick bro. Look after it for old mate🙏🏼
Looking and sounding the goods Zak 👌. Good luck in the Mildura Easter Show & Shine mate 👍
Good on you for saving this Falcon. Nice touch keeping the former owners family involved
I hope to bring the former owner's son onto the channel in the future to tell us about the history of this car.
I had one of these many years ago and still regret selling it. If you love the car it does not matter how much you put into it. I would like to see it restored, the only mods I would probably put on is a new exhaust. Can’t wait to see what you do with it.
An aftermarket exhaust is something id like to put on this car too!
Shit headlights
$1500 keep it stock worth more in time to come if its stock
Mate, what a fantastic place and experience. Power generation is a hot topic at present with the current push to use mostly intermittent wind and solar. Hydro was the original green energy and much better than the current ideology. People back then were real forward thinking, with grit and determination to make civilisation better for everyone.
It really seems that we have gone backwards, hydro power looks like a more simple and reliable way to make energy. I totally agree with you.
Modern classic falcon and it’s a beautiful colour. It’ll be worth a few dollars in years to come if restored and looked after.
😍💙🦍
Love what you have built! 5 hour drive to get to Mildura for me though
Awesome score mate! Registered with those kms on it, in the buying condition I'd probably max out at around5-6k personally. After the tidy up anywhere from 5-10k. The ultimate value with abit of work is limitless really. In nice condition could be anywhere from 15-40k. Good luck with it all, keen to see the progress! Subbed🤙🏽💙🦍
Bloody nice mate
12500
Oh, I think you know EXACTLY what you got :) A low k S3 XR8, in blueprint (the rarest colour) full leather and momo, plus sunroof and a set of the most sought after and expensive wheels on the second hand market - 'Azzuros'. Wouldn't be surprised if there were premium brakes fitted as well but can't quite tell.
its also a Rebel... Great score.
still has the engine cover, pretty stock
really happy another falcon got saved
XW looks and sounds great!
just give it a good detail .
Nice, I had one in black many years ago, I loved it but it was just too slow and that ticking from the carbon canister was awful.
Great job.
Firstly What a great pick up. Low K's and pretty straight considering it's age. I wouldn't have had a moment's hesitation of picking it up myself. 130 odd thousand Ks on the clock that V8 would only be just run in so there is a mountain of life left in it. But please DON'T modify it. If it was mine I would just do what is needed for roadworthy mechanically and fix up the paintwork. I see too many nice cars like this get Destroyed by backyard screwdriver mechanics who think they can make it better but end up making a mess of it.
It’s all good, I don’t have intentions on doing any modifications right now. I just want to get it back to its original form. Then use it as a weekend cruiser.
Nice score. The sunroof is a bonus something I always want in my car. Looking forward to more content on this xr8 💪
And the sunroof works! Unlike the rest of the electronics in this car. 😂 Did you get an aftermarket sunroof installed in your car?
Congrats on your beautifully restored XW Ute. Love it all especially the Opal Glow colour. Wish I could get to mildura to see it ....Have fun :)
Looks like you are onto something good as long as there isn't hidden rust. I thought the old guy R.I.P. deserved a little more respect, He was smoking those tyres up before you were born. Anyways good luck, you know what you are doing. 😎👍
From what I heard, he loved this car and was very proud of it. I'll be keeping in touch with the family I bought it from as they are keen to see what I'll do with it. Cheers mate, I must look younger than what I am. I would of been still riding my BMX bike while he was thrashing this AU. 😂
@@tictacaus1554 good on ya mate. 😎👍
If it was a 5 speed manual be an absolute cracking car to buy , autos not quite the same
I like that it's a auto, as my other car is a manual. Your right though, from the research I've done, people now days want these cars in manual.
Very nice example of a series 3 it appears fully loaded with sunroof, momo wheel and shifter, leather interior and those quite rare tickford wheels it still has the original engine dress cover. As it stands about $14500 to $16000 fully restored should pull the $20000 plus mark these in fully optioned spec are very rare, theres plenty of base spec cars, but when you start looking you realize there few and far between.
I didn’t realise what this car was until getting closer to owning it. I just thought it was a regular AU XR8 falcon. When I noticed it had a full leather interior and a badge on the back that indicated it had 220kw. I thought to myself, I don’t see this on other XR8’s out there.
People dont realize just how hard it is to find one much less a highly speced car, the 220 kw where released in june 2001 I have the same spec as yours but in a series 2 with the body kit. You've got yourself a very nice and collectable falcon.
hate to tell you, but maybe 10k as is... the market has crashed for these. Maybe 14 to 16 in top condition.
I have a 2002 AU XR8 Tickford 220 kw Ute , I almost sold it but I'm glad I still have her
@@spiderbrandt4066No such thing as a 220kw ute, only 200kw like the series 2 XR8 Unfortunately all XR8 utes were 200kw unless you had a Pursuit 250 which was 250kw.
