      Hey Tony. I'm pretty spoiled because we have Spring Mountain, LVMS, & SpeedVegas here, all in southern Nevada. So I don't really go to any other tracks. I'm thinking in a few years about some road trips to Streets of Willow and perhaps Laguna Seca. Also, I don't 'race'. Mine is a street car that just does fun track days. I do go head-to-head with my friends, and we track our lap times, and they are usually faster than me! But we have a great time.

    I can not understand all of this !! In December 2020 after more than 12 years of Porsche 996/997 GT3 I bought a C7 Grand Sport Final Edition, the biggest mistake I could ever make !! Why don't you have temperature problems, are you driving too slowly? After just 6 laps at the Hockenheimring (in Germany) at 6 ° C (43 ° F) enviroment temperature, I had an engine oil temperature of 145 ° C (293 ° F), a water temperature of 110 ° C (230 ° F) and a transmission oil temperature of 112 ° C (233 ° F) !! Thats after 6 laps, I drive the Porsche at the HHR at 30 ° C (86 ° F) without problems until the petrol tank is empty! A week later on the Nürburgring Nordschleife at 11 ° C (51 ° F) enviroment temperature exactly the same after only 2.5 laps !! After 3 laps I had to leave the racetrack to cool down !! I then spoke to a very well-known Corvette tuner and he said to me "the C7 Grand Sport is not suitable for you, you have to invest another € 20,000 to drive like you would with your Porsches" Now I am back to Porsche and have mine bought a GT4. Last weekend I was back at the Nürburgring, 7 laps in a row without any problems, as always, then the petrol tank was empty. It's a shame, the C7 at Sebring Orange was a very nice car, also very good to drive, but unfortunately not at the limit on the racetrack.

    • @PeterReingold
      @PeterReingold 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @uwegt3 - not sure why you're having these issues. I see many Grand Sports at the track with me, all stock, no one has temperature issues. You may be right, maybe we are all driving too slowly. But I've had four great track days each with four full sessions (30 minutes), with warm outside temps (Las Vegas). No temperature issues. My car is 100% stock, on the OEM run-flat MPSS (NOT cup 2s). And my times are within 1-3 seconds as friends of mine on R-compound tires in Corvettes, ZL1 1LEs, M4s, etc. So I don't think I'm necessarily slow. But this is a street car, and this is HPDE, not racing. My last outing I set the oil temp gauge and watched it for you (and your friend, @997GT3R). Outside temps 90F, my oil temps got as high as 230F-250F. Here's that video - th-cam.com/video/dNl_cWFIoGs/w-d-xo.html Grand Sport has coolers for: engine oil, transaxle, diff, trans, F/R brakes, everything. Too bad you had a bad experience.

      I drive a GS at the limit at the track all day and frankly right on past many porches - no cooling problems what so ever. A friend of mine dropped his 2019 Final Edition because at 5° outside temperature the car had more than 140° oil temperature in the shortest possible time on track. And the problem with the Corvette is that the oil is measured at the coolest point in the engine. 😖🤦🏻‍♂️ I like the C7 very much and I actually wanted to buy one. But now I'm not sure if the car doesn't work on the racetrack...😞 Here in Germany the car is still quite expansive and for such a price tag everything must work fine.

      @PeterReingold 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used Sport Mode, because I like knowing I have the safety nets. The car is 50/50 weight distribution, so the handling is very neutral. There can be some understeer at the limit, usually after several laps and the front tires start to slip. And if you jump on the power too early, there may be some skip-out oversteer. But very manageable. Lower tire pressures to 25-26 PSI cold, it helps a lot.

      You may require an adjustable Panhard Bar (PHB) in the rear. If your PHB is centered properly, the fit is perfect 19x11 305/35. Hello Jose. My car is lowered 1.5" in front, 2" in rear. But...I have -1.5 of camber in the front, so it helps tuck the top of the tire inside the fender. With no spacers, I think 285 is the widest you can go in front, using a 10" wheel. With a spacer, perhaps 305 with an 11" wheel, but that I'm not sure. Be sure to buy wheels with the correct offset and backspacing. The Nittos I have (NT555G2) are great on the street, but weak on track. If you will not track the car, the Nittos are a great value.

I may lower the car in the future. I know that you are sitting on 19” wheels. I’m not sure if yours is lowered but i want to make sure that there would be no rubbing if I put 285’s in the front. Hi Jacob. No, not really. Just a little bit deeper and louder across the entire rev range. You'll hear the difference. But I don't get the 'pops and gargles' you mention. An off-road x-pipe may give you that.

    any spacers? what lugs? will factory lugs work? how do the 19x10 look on the rear?

    • @PeterReingold
      @PeterReingold 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No spacers required - this is the maximum you can go without adding spacers or changing studs, Front 19x10 with 285/35 19; Rear 19x11 with 305/35 19. You will need smaller spline lug nuts because the OEM lug nuts are too fat, but SVE / LMR includes new ones. I don't know how 19x10 look on the rear, these are 19x11.

    Car looks great! Thinking about going with the sve r350 wheels as soon as they come back in stock. Not sure what your wheel tire setup was before but how is the ride with the 285 up front and the 305 in back? Any complaints? I can’t decide if I want to do a square setup with 285/35/19 or get the the staggered setup with the 305’s out back like you have.

    • @PeterReingold
      @PeterReingold 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My previous set-up was 19x9 255/40 front, 19x10 285/35 rear. Believe it or not, I find the ride to actually be a little better on the street with the newer, larger (wider), SVEs that I have now. And much better on the track (road course). I prefer the look and feel of the staggered set-up, so 285 front with 305 rear is great for me now.

    • @louieo9252
      @louieo9252 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter Reingold I’m currently on a 255/40/19 squared setup. I hoping there won’t be too much difference between the 40 and 35 sidewall. Still want the wife to be comfortable. I’m pretty sure the ride quality was rougher with my last mustang setup that had 255/35/20 because of the Sr springs I was running. Currently running bmr’s Perfomance spring which doesn’t have such a high spring rate like the Sr lowering springs did. Also I’m running Sr Perfomance shocks and struts this time and last time I was on stock.

    • @PeterReingold
      @PeterReingold 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your 35 sidewall on a 20" rim (on your last setup) will ride rough. These 19s ride fine, IMO. But there are other videos on TH-cam with these wheels, ask those folks to get some more opinions to help you with your decision.

      Peter Reingold finally got my sve r350 wheels from lmr, you can see them on my profile. What tire pressure are you running for everyday driving with the 285’s in front and 305’s in back? Mine came with 32psi and I left them at that psi since the recommended psi for the stock wheels is 32psi.

    • @PeterReingold
      @PeterReingold 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those look great! I run 35psi on the street. 25-27psi (cold) at the track. Maybe my 35psi is too high...?

    • @caleballey5404
      @caleballey5404 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not trying to make a gt500. It’s the axle backs for the gt500 from ford racing designed to fit the GT. I have them as well and think they make it sound great for the money.

    • @knupxfon
      @knupxfon 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      GT500 exhaust is a smidge louder than stock 5.0. Resonator delete makes it a smidge louder than that, with a barely deeper tone. He isn't trying to make it a gt500. Just a bit better sound. Go away mullethead. Stop being jealous that Mustangs still sound like muscle cars, and don't sound like tractors like your camaro/challenger.

    • @PeterReingold
      @PeterReingold 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blah Blah - not sure why you think that. It's for better sound, period. Nothing else, perhaps a few extra HP, as well, more exhaust gas-flow. Not trying to make my car anything more than what it is, a 2011 GT.

    • @PeterReingold
      @PeterReingold 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No rubbing at all. Front turns lock-to-lock, no problem. For the rears, since my car is lowered, I had to fine-tune the Panhard bar a little after install. But the rear does not rub either, now. SVE got the back-spacing and offsets correct with these wheels.

    Do you think 305's would work up front an 315's in the rear?

    • @PeterReingold
      @PeterReingold 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do NOT think 305s would work in front. Maybe with a specially offset 18" wheel they might. 315s would work in the rear, on 19" x 11"...however 305 is the ideal fit for an 11" wheel.

    • @PeterReingold
      @PeterReingold 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Humbler, sorry so late. I think 305s in front require a spacer. LMR reports that you can't go wider than 305 in the rear of S197s. Maybe 315 will fit, but might rub a little when the road dips hard.
