I have viewed Life of Pi... I consider it one the classics... For me to appreciate everything on the movie, I viewed it first on its superficial value - just the movie as it is... then, on my re-watch times, I thought of the meanings behind each scenes... That's how I was able to love and appreciate the movie... Life of Pi is worth watching - not just once, but multiple times...

They were my first and have been my favorite super couple on Days since I was 11 and in the 7th grade. My sweet mama checked me out of school to watch Doug and Julie get married. Thank the good Lord, I was blessed to meet them at an event. I bawled, but they were so sweet and touched. I’ll never forget their kindness. ❤

Jol was a close associate of mine back in about 1975/76. I was barely aware then of his talent, or if I was aware, I didn't fully appreciate it. But after we lost touch, I continued to monitor him. It's an amazing story of a driven craftsman.

I'm glad the interviewer touched on the idea of Pi being on a spiritual journey, but I see the first part in India not as preparation, but as the beginning of a much longer process. The real journey begins when Pi opens the ship door and enters the storm with naive anticipation, and it doesn't end until he washes up on the Mexican shore and watches the "tiger" disappear from his life. I see this story as having three levels: the obvious adventure; the symbolic representations of the animals, book, storms, etc.; and what Joseph Campbell called the Hero's Journey. I show this film to my students, and we thoroughly explore it from the first shot of the tiger as only a reflection in the credit sequence to "You look thirsty" to "Why would a lotus hide in the forest?" to "He could be trained but not tamed." The subsequent conversations are wonderful.
I love their messages about hope in the end. Made me teary ❤️

I just watched the movie yesterday for the first time, seriously. I just loved it. It's very much heart touching. I actually never knew about it. IT'S AWESOME AND EMOTIONAL AND A WONDERFUL FICTION STORY... 😀😀
