I didn't even think about the possibility of sneaking around them on my first playthrough but on ranger hardcore you have to use more ammo than you ever have at once just to take down one of them so I learned how to sneak around them but the worst is thinking you're good and then hearing one roghr bwhind you and getting one hit killed
