Brother that is indian bike
Tried both bikes and the T100 is better by far. The problem is that the Triumph costs two times the RE. Overall, the Interceptor is far superior.
I have owned a couple of modern classic Triumphs. They are fine but in my opinion and it’s only my opinion! They look great but lack character. I currently own 3 Royal Enfield’s including an Interceptor. It’s obviously a more budget bike but has loads of character and makes me smile within a couple of minutes of riding
What’s being missed is. Triumph is a closed source oem parts n repair info . On the newer t 120 no repair manuals or inner motor parts. You have to take it in. No big bore kits. One aftermarket cam profile. Add your personal bits n bobs n go! R. E. At least lets you have at it! I don’t think I would have bought my bonnie knowing all that now.
I hope Mahindra make more retro bikes with old British brand stickers on the tank.
I’ve got a classic 350 love it don’t think the new 650 looks as good? Good videos ta👍
@@MichaelWinstanley-rq9hq big fan of the Classic 350! Thanks for watching
Why would any spend that amount of money on an imitation BSA ? It’s not a real bike just a copy Just think what you could buy for the money Zxr1400 Honda gold wing BMW adventure This bike will appeal to the sort of person who would ride a Harley😂😂😂😂😂
If someone likes an old moviestar like Rita Hayworth or Grace Kelly for example,i can imagine he is surching for a woman who looks like those women.
@ absolutely You could find the looks but she would only be a copy and she wouldn’t match the dream Gold stars were the very best of their day but like the old actresses they are past it now A average car will out perform it I can understand the desire to own the real thing it’s history is amazing and desirable But the copy will only ever be a copy
Love the look of this bike so much! Thanks for the initial review!
@@LindzMoto Glad you enjoyed it, I think you would really suit it
Top notch review thanks
@@claytonhenderson366 thanks for watching
The bike is classic and powerful performance.
@@mayurbanchhode1287 Indeed it is
Good review. You mentioned some things that other people seemed to have missed. My nearest dealer is about 150 miles away but I will get there in a few months when it warms up a bit here in the northern hemisphere. Thanks!
@@peterlamont1533 Thanks for watching, summer will be back soon!
dude what about thunderbird???
I have received a legal notice from Mahindra - BSA’s parent company for raising my issues on Twitter for the sub standard product that they offered me. Now, I have filed a consumer case against them.
what gloves are those mate?
Which ones, the yellow are Biltwell :)
Hello Wesley. Have you ever ridden a Kawasaki W800? I know they are bit more of a premium bike than the BSA in terms of price and fit and finish but the 360 degree twin is a long stroke high torque engine that performs very similarly to the BSA but with more top end power and smoothness. They are the modern retro that is closer to the bikes of the 60s than anything else on the market. The W650 was introduce in 1999. a full year before the Triumph and is tribute to the W1 Kawasaki from the mid 60s. The W1 was a Japanese bike that was built under an engine license from BSA so there is a bit of shared heritage. Great video by the way. Unfortunately I can't ride a Gold Star as I don't think they are available in Canada. I have a 2022 W800 that is an amazing bike to ride. Cheers BJ
Are these easy to steal ? What if I go grocery shopping with this will a hobo come and unclip it in 2 seconds and run off with it ?
It was good to meet you today on the BSA ride and hear your comments after 1200km of experience with the bike. Cheers
Hi Russell, you too! Thanks for watching
BSA Ad! Still a great bike - only change - mandatory - get the Logos moulded into the engine cases. I would not buy a stickers bike! Laser engraving won‘t do it, at all! The hand armatures switches need a classic style, but to what I know, what‘s available on the market as OEM isn‘t much different, plastic-chrome-cheap, plastic-black-cheap, …, even indian Chiefs run with mounted big plastic stuff - costs 6x I‘d prefer a Yamaha SR type hand switches block style or older.
The engine was not made or designed in Switzerland, it was Austria!
Indeed, it's a Rotax engine. Reliable and looks very nice in the BSA performance.
Yes my bad! I'll get it right next time
Looks real nice, but my money is on Kawasaki 's W800.
0:10 The W800 is also a beautyful retro, defenetly if you prefer a 360 degree twin cilinder!I think both bikes has their own charmes.
One of my favourite bikes in the world is the Meguro K3 W800 😉
Awesome content, pro review, stunning scenery 👍 I can not wait to see the B65 SCRAMBLER review!
Thanks buddy, I can't wait to ride the B65 too :D
Get a real Beeza.
My brother owned 2A65's and 1B40 but he maintained his own bikes and not everybody has the skils for that, just like me and goes better for a retro than a vintage.
I rode the bike today with the BSA club (veteran riders) and no one referred to it as a fake Beeza, they were impressed!
@@wesleyjames. I own a 2022 Gold Star 650, it shares a garage with a 1958 A10 Super Rocket, the owner of that A10 has never suggested that my Gold Star is a fake Beeza. His A10 leaks oil, it only starts up when it wants to and it would be better suited in a museum than on today's roads. People don't call the Triumph Bonneville's built for Hinckley in Thailand fake Bonnies, do they?
And spend your life by the roadside with greasy hands cursing the thing!
Good review I have an early 23 midnight black here in northern ireland have been riding motorcycles from 1970 90cc to1400cc and love the goldstar it had been trouble free its a blank canvas for to make it your own I have added motone tank pads stadium bar end mirrors hagon rear shocks stainless steel rear rack with craven equipment top box I'm going to fit TEC progressive front springs over the winter it looks like a lovely country to ride in
Glad to hear you're enjoying the bike, I'd love to customise mine, there's so much untapped potential. Thanks for watching!
Hey wes would the bike be easy to maintaipn during the winters? And what tyres would we have to use for the winter f or this one?
Hi Dan, good question I'll need to look into that myself as I've only experienced it in Spring / Summer weather
The engine of the BSA Goldstar was developed in Austria by the Rotax company. 😉
Yes, sorry I had a momentary lapse of memory... I was close though, would have been worse if I had said Chile 😅
Nice video, and a good review of the Goldstar. I'm just north of CHCH and had mine since release from Cyclespot. They have a few niggles, but I really enjoy riding it.
Glad to hear, have you done any rides with the BSA club down these ways? I might join their ride on Sunday
@@wesleyjames. I popped them a message but havent heard back.
When oh WHEN is this bike going to land in Australia? Anyone have any idea? Awesome classic retro bike.
Not sure unfortunately, I'm surprised little old NZ got it before you guys! Usually the other way round
Sick video and channel bro
Thanks mate, appreciate the positive feedback !
Excellent summary, and it’s great to see it appeals to a someone from a younger generation. I’ve been running the Highland Green since March 2023 and it’s one of my favourite bikes in 50 years of motorcycling.
Thanks for watching, keep your eyes peeled for more releases over the next few months :)
Great video mate. Looks very cool. Enjoy your summer riding. I'll check out the dealer next time I'm passing through. Cheers
Thanks Ian, so far it's turning out to be an absolute cracker of a summer!
I envy anyone who can take a bike trip in New Zealand. The Gold Star must have been a pleasure there!
It really is motorbike heaven here in the South Island, check out some of my other videos for more epic scenery

Hi Dilip, I'm Wes. Nice to meet you

@@Gamer_perak Ah cool, thanks for the follow!
Loaned for the Summer ☀️ primo Wahoo.
Rotrax engine been round for 25yrs or so & is Austrian or Swiss designed originally made there too but now made in India. 230km range plenty in NZ as long as bike can do 200km in NZ sweet. Running bike in especially air cooled stop every 20-25km for 15-20mins for first 150km to put some heat cycles through it then stop every 40-50km till done a few hundred kms then every hour for first 500km & don't go over 4000rpm & change gears heaps. Indian FTR has about 160km 😲range 1200cc 13L tank bikes need 200km range with 1.5-2L left in tank.Triumph 900 only has 12L tank but I'm averaging 4.3L per 100km mixed riding not cruising use even less.
first
New Zealand dollaridoos? I bet the coins have sheep on them.
Haha!
Best comparison on the internet. I'm a hard core RE guy but I can see how 80 ft/lb might be fun.
It's a game changer, thanks for watching!
What a well rounded review good for you
Thanks Mark !
Most people that have interceptor cant afford triumph, period, the interceptor feels heavy and underpowered, has no pride factor, i sold mine and i prefer triumph anyday. A lot of poor people will cope enfield are better lol
A second hand T100 can be found for a similar price to a new Interceptor in N.Z, if not cheaper
Yes too many
Great review. With the T100 suspension, do you think it’s rear shock or forks, or both that are lacking ? Roads are terrible in uk right now ☹️
Had a Thruxton 900 (2015 as my first bike) bought it new, people warned me its difficult to ride, the old Thruxton used to be a Bonneville with a slightly dropped handlebar and relocated foot pegs. Other than that its exact same Bonneville. Anyway, it was very difficult as a new rider, made me feel riding is not for me. 1 week later, fall in love, cant stop riding this thing, was putting around 10k KM a year. had to sell it when I moved to Canada. cried like a child when I sold it. Still cant afford one. but will see... maybe in the near future a Bonneville T100 would be a dream. Pray for me folks. Thanks for the review, love the fact its not speaking inside a helmet the entire time, and love the shots, amazing work, thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing your story, I love the old air cooled Thruxtons too. It can be hard saving for a bike with all of life's expenses, but I find the best way is to work up the ladder, start on something at $3k, then ride that for a year, then upgrade to something for $5k, etc etc, you'll get there!
so nice and detailed points you made! subd!
Thanks bud, glad you enjoyed it
@@wesleyjames. Yes, my height is 6'2" and I was skeptical about the interceptor 650 as test ride time was very brief to get the ergonomics but you fairly explored this point. Thank you!
They are penetrating the western market (and are doing a great jobn at that). The Himalayan 450 was the right step even if many of those who loved the 411 are having a bit of a hard time to accept the 450 which went more modern and swapped more power for low torque and changed it character. The Guerilla actually makes a lot of sense IMO as the motor suits that bike (apparently) very well. Now when it comes ot the 650 ... it feels a bit like they are throwing all their ideas at the wall and see what sticks. The most recent vatriation - the Bear - feels like it is all about the looks only. Let's see how that one will be received - it is clearly aimed at the Triumph Scrambler 900. I expectr that RE is just getting started. I would not be surprised if they would release new (bigger than 650) motor in few years.
Your No. 10 may well be my first bike if all goes well, it simply is calling me (the engine of the 450 generation not that much). I know it is not too powerful, but hey, for a first bike at age of 45 it should be fine. Bullet 350 is a close second. Of course unless someone was to gift me their Triumph Scrambler 900 or Kawasaki W800. Good condition only, thank you :)
You can pick up some great deals on W800's in the used market, I've always fancied getting one myself. Good luck with your search
@ W800 is a lovely bike indeed!
Good , but i think you shouldn't compare triumph with this cheap, bastardized indo-brit brand. RE is no way compares to the great Triumph.
Ok mate
Great video and comparison. The countryside is unmistakable Canty, NZ. 😊
Spot on! Thanks for watching
I'm in the US. Test rode both bikes in the last 2 weeks. I thought the RE was a very good engine that deserves better than what it's surrounded with. The orange peel on the tank paint, the cheap tires, it's bad low speed handling, the cases that are tarnished so bad sitting in the show room it would take the better part of a day to polish. It's just has an air of shabbiness. Even 250 cc's larger T100 they gets almost same MPG. The Triumph is just a better all-around bike that's much better built. Here in the US the first sevice on the RE is $500 and they don't want you doing it yourself. Triumph dealer says show the receipts and we'll mark your book. I went with the T100 in red and white.
It sounds like you may have ridden a dud. There's certain components that are understandably inferior as the bike's built to a price point. I agree though, the Triumph is the one to aim for :)
I have /had a 07 865cc T100 before a car wrote my Triumph and my right leg off. I have a long way to go before I will be able to ride again but ride I will and more than likely on a Triumph.
Sorry to hear that, hope you'll be back in two wheels soon!
Excellent video. Refreshing to hear from an actual owner. Thank you. The RE Interceptor is very tempting. Beautiful bikes, but a bit tall for me and heavier than I realized. I own a 2022 T100 and I love it. I'm 73 and recently retired. Probably best to just stick with what I know and love. I did pick up a good used 2022 RE Classic 350. I have to say, while it is heavy for a 350, it sure is a lot easier to move around the garage than my T100. It is slow for sure. But, as I get older, maybe that is a good thing. The 350 is a lot of fun. I love going out to the garage and seeing the T-100, the Classic 350, and my other toy - a Honda S2000, sitting there begging to go our for a ride. I live in a gorgeous rural area in Vermont. I feel very fortunate. 😀
I am a big fan of the Classic 350, and couldn't think of better roads to enjoy it on than Vermont. Enjoy!
