I agree that Ty's mom has always been a mixed bag. She usually spends half of her episodes apologizing for something. Ms. Follows has appeared many times in the role over the years and has directed a bunch of episodes of Heartland. She won a Director's Guild of Canada award in 2020 for directing an episode of Heartland.

Ms. Follows two Hudson and Rex episodes were Season 5 (2023) , Episodes 15-16.

I may do a more extensive clip video of Ms. Follows and Rex's full performance together. This clip has been very popular.

I was able to watch this one on DVD. It was a much darker story than American TV of that time, but very good. It looked like it was supposed to be a pilot for a series, but I'm not sure on that. Ms. Follows said in an interview that it was an "interesting" experience working with Michael Moriarty. Thank you for sharing your experience.

You can watch the show on the "UP - Faith and Family" streaming service in the U.S. It looks like you can subscribe thru Amazon Prime. It is a popular Canadian show and can be seen on "City TV" in that country.

Jo's cousin (Miss Follows) certainly liked him as well. This episode was a "backdoor pilot" for a spin-off series that, unfortunately, did not get picked up.

This movie and "Deep Sleep" (also on the channel) were her opportunity to play more adult roles than she had in the past. She did get a Genie award (Canadian Oscar) nomination for "Termini Station".

As a fan, I have been wanting to have an reason to vent on this subject. Thanks for giving me an excuse. All I've written below is speculation. Take it for what it is worth. The movie was shot during the early days of the pandemic and appears to have shut down before completion. While I think that they tried to put together the most coherent version of the movie that they could with the footage they had, I don't think this movie could be called finished, at least not in a dramatically satisfying way. I would go so far as to say the entire climax of the film was not shot. I believe the original ending was going to depict the day of the mother's death, up to and including the car-fire. There are scenes of a schoolroom in various parts of the movie that seem to be remnants of these scenes. I also believe these scenes would have contained Ms. Follows performance as the mother: a huge hole in this movie. The climax would have revealed that the car-fire was not an accident: it was a murder suicide in which only the mother's suicide succeeded. We would have learned how the daughter survived the fire. The reason the mother tried to kill the daughter from beyond the grave was simple: she was trying to finish the job she had started. Yes, the mom was crazy. I am not sure how the final confrontation between mother and daughter would have played out. I believe (and hope) the "it was only a dream" ending where the daughter finds herself back in the car was cobbled together out of existing footage. It makes no sense, even under the loose rules of a supernatural thriller. I believe the real climax was to be related to the car-fire, as mentioned above. As for the last scene. I suspect that the daughter was supposed to survive the confrontation, but that the mother would continue to haunt her by possessing people around her and harming them, until the daughter chose to "join her". An "evil-triumphs" type ending that doesn't work without full context.

In the 2000s, she did many TV guest spots and small feature film roles in U.S., while doing bigger TV movies and stage plays in Canada. Her U.S. TV career picked up in the 2010s as her children reached adulthood.

I also recommend "Stacking" (1986) as a good movie of hers from this time period. The full movie is available on this channel.

I've never seen the TV movie with Colleen Dewhurst and Jason Robards. I may check it out. I did see "Inherit the Wind" with Jason Robards and Megan Follows. One of the things I have experienced from doing this channel is how small the acting community really is. I know Ms. Dewhurst thought very highly of Ms. Follows and may have recommended her to Robards for "Inherit the Wind".

She died in 1991, a few years after making this movie. The last thing I saw her in was the second season of "Road to Avonlea", but it looks like she was working steadily to the very end. She was one of the great actresses of stage and screen.

I'm not Megan, just a fan. I can not put up any more of the movie as TH-cam only allows short clips of this movie due to copyright. The movie is available on Amazon and other streaming services. You may be able to use VPN services like Express VPN or Surfshark to get access to US and Canadian region videos.

I have not been able to track one down. I am surprised as it was one of Tatiana Maslany's first roles. It may be available for streaming in Canada through Amazon Prime Video. They have a listing for it but it says it is not available in U.S. The second and third Booky's are available on DVD on Amazon and Ebay. If you have any luck, let me know. I'd like to see it too.

@@Meegs-moderator unfortunately not available in Canada either. Not sure why Amazon has it listed. It has a really stellar cast in that film and I've been trying to find it for years. It doesn't seem to have ever had a video release. Someone must have recorded it. Hopefully we can track one down.

I had missed this one back when it came out. Finding this movie and some of Ms. Follows other indie films is how this channel got started. Glad you enjoyed it.

Her three part run of Littlest Hobo is on this channel. The whole Follows acting clan is in it. Definitely for young kids, but fun.

I agree. Her performance still charms me after all these years. Just when I thought I was getting cynical.

It was released on VHS. Her movies Deep Sleep and Reluctant Angel suffered a similar fate. Ms. Follows career is closely tied to the evolution of Canadian cinema. Many 80's-90's Canadian movies were subsidized at that time as a way to establish the domestic industry and this affected distribution. They simply didn't know how to squeeze blood out of a stone the way Hollywood could and many movies simply faded away. Canadian film and TV has come a long way since then. Many U.S. shows, like Reign, are now made in Canada.
