    Would it be any good for a driveway with a max gradient of 12%? My concern would be that it could be like an ice rink in winter !

    • @TobermoreConcreteProducts
      @TobermoreConcreteProducts 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Simon, There is no maximum gradient for laying paving. Your installer would just need to make sure they have adequate drainage to allow for water runoff. Regarding ice build-up concrete block paving would be no different to using tarmac or most other surface materials for that matter. The same de-icing salts used on public roads and footpaths can be used with our products. Hope this helps!

    I know I'm late here, but what do you do if you the drop is coming towards the house? ie the pavement is higher than the doorway of the house? can we use a drainage system to feed into sewege system then? I can't imagine a soakaway being efficient in this case

    • @TobermoreConcreteProducts
      @TobermoreConcreteProducts ปีที่แล้ว

      If the paving falls towards the house, then drainage channels would need to be installed. The water could then be channelled via a pipe to a soakaway constructed using Aquacells.

    Did you set the screed rails 5mm above the finished patio level? so when the block is layed and compacted, it compacts to the finished driveway level.

    I got mot type 1 but the stones are big it doesn’t compact very well

  • @JohnThomas-ey1hx
    @JohnThomas-ey1hx ปีที่แล้ว

    Bit confusing as you said to leave patio levels 3-5mm higher than final edging level to allow for final compaction, but then you didn't compact them at the end as they were all level. So either the slabs are now 3-5mm higher than the edging, you screeded to finished level and didn't put the 3-5mm allowance in or you compacted them down mechanically/manually off camera and didn't say. Which is is? Also should you run just a single pass of the compacter on the sand before final screeding, or should you compact the sand solidly using multiple passes and then screed it? I would have expected you to lay a row of flags to stand on so you can then take the poles out and fill in without standing on the area you've just screeded.

    • @TobermoreConcreteProducts
      @TobermoreConcreteProducts ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John, many thanks for the comments. You are correct regarding the 3-5mm level. We had used footage clips from another video where the flags were compacted and should have put a disclaimer on this. Regarding the screeding, there are several different methods used by experienced contractors to install the sand laying course all of which are acceptable and have proven to work successfully over many years. Paving contractors usually have their own preferred tried and tested methods. The pre-compaction method shown is an established method used by many installers. A thin layer of sand is spread and lightly compacted (one pass with the compactor). The screed rails are then set into the sand, more sand added, screeded and compacted. You can as you have stated, place a single layer of sand, compact it thoroughly, slightly loosen the top 10mm and screed it. We hope this helped answer your query.
