Upcoming Pictured Rocks Gear Load Out Overnight Test Adventure
Thanks for visiting the channel. Dave, Bruce, and I set out on an overnight gear-testing adventure to prepare for our upcoming long-distance hike at Pictured Rocks.
We loaded up our packs with everything we’d need for the trek, tents, sleeping bags, cooking gear-and headed out to a remote spot. As we set up camp, we went through every piece of equipment, making sure it was dialed in and ready for the journey ahead.
The night was a mix of good laughs, troubleshooting gear, and soaking in the quiet wilderness, leaving us confident and excited for the adventure at Pictured Rocks.

      Thanks for watching the video. The only time I had a problem was when it was a windy and rainy day with the back door facing into the wind. Also make sure you seam seal all the seams, because if you don't, the tent will leak. Thanks again and HAPPY CAMPING…😁

      Thanks for watching the video. Unfortunately the stove dose not come with the tent. I like the fact that you can use a buddy heater or a wood stove. Camping in the cooler months is one of my favorite times to go camping and being able to have some sort of heat source is a great thing. Thanks again and HAPPY CAMPING…😁

    This tent might be lacking a few features or be slightly smaller but one thing it does have that's a lot better than the rest is that rain fly. It totally covers the tent well beyond the bedsides. I've been researching and plan on buying a truck tent in the next 2 months. The rain fly alone may make me consider this one. Thanks for the great video.

    I ordered this tent coming for a standard Coleman tent. Crawl edition. I'm 6 4 and am sick of sliding in and out of a can. I want to stand in a tent with a little happiness! Any improvements or tidbits you can recommend? waxing the zipper? Waterproof spraying the Rain cover? Replacing better guy strings? I do know to use better hooks, especially for sand. Thanks in advance.

      Thanks for watching the video. It took me a bit to figure it out aswell, I remove the inter tent because I think there is so much more room in the tent with out it, but I am a bushcrafter by heart. By leaving the inter tent seperate makes it easier to get in into the storage bag. Also if I decide I want to use the tent without the inter, I can easily remove it from the bag. That's true, but what I have found out using tent, you have the snow flaps on the bottom that seal the bottom of the tent, and screens on two of the doors, the tent is pretty bug proof the way it is. Basically what I do is separate the inter tent from the fly, lay it out upside down, fold the walls into the roof in thirds till its the same width as the storage bag, the roll it up with the poles and stakes then it should fit back into the bag. As far as the inter tent I just fold it as best as I can and lay it on top of the tent in the storage bag. That way if I don't want to use the inter tent on a camping trip I can just take the inter tent out and leave it at home if I don't want to use it. I hope CV that helps you out and please stay tuned for the tent folding video. With that… HAPPY CAMPING…😁

    I love the music, laid back and enjoyable. Could you show how you roll and pack the tent. With no floor, it is difficult to lay out and fold tight enough. I have tried four time to perfect it. So it can fit in its storage bag. In the way it came when new. 2:11

      Thanks for watching the video. I remove the inter tent, flip it upside down, fold the walls on top of the roof till its the correct width for the bag roll it up with the stakes and poles then put it in the storage bag. Then I fold and roll the inter tent up the same way and put it in the storage bag. There are times when I don't use the inter tent, especially during the fall and winter when there are no bugs. The tent is much more roomy inside with out the inter tent. Next time I take the tent out for a camp out, I'll try and remember to video folding it up and stowing it away. Thanks again for watching the video and HAPPY CAMPING…😁

    the question remains. the GeerTop Bivy 2 or the Alpkit Elan? i think they are about the same with eighter one you ll go. i feel like with the elan at least, it has a better build quality(?) even if is missing on some of the extra features the geertop has like feet vent also with poles. which are you saying g-bacher if you where me right now ready to buy one? anyway no matter which one im going to buy, i m thinking on buying a usb fan, i already have a powerbank, and let the smallish desk like fan run during the night to help me with the condensation, heard someone did this and it helped idk if it s really going to work but it s worth trying

    • @GbacherAdventureChronicles
      @GbacherAdventureChronicles 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching the video. I’m not very familiar Alpkit Elan because I haven’t had one test. I did a couple of test nights with the GeerTop and it worked very well. However me being over 6’ tall it seamed to be a little to cramped, and I dealt with some condensation issues even with the two vents at the head and foot, but it’s hard to control condensation in a single wall tent. So I’m trying out the GEERTOP Ultralight Blazer 1 Bivy Tent which is a little bit bigger tent and has more headroom and is a double wall tent which I think will control condensation better. Of course it’s a little heavier but not that much. I will be making a test night video on that tent in the near feature, please stay tuned. Also did have a leak in the tent after a rain test night but I was able to take care of that with seam seal, being a $100.00 tent I figured I would have to do that any way. Lots of bears in my area so i stay close to home even so there is an occasional visitor bear but rare. like you said its camping. keep a can of bear spray and a Storm whistle. I also monitor the tent with the security cameras so I'm alerted and i can take a look to see if its a bear , deer or coyote
