@@shortstackgarage2063 are you still enjoying the build? I’ve got 165k on my truck with no issues, over 20k miles on the build.. and can absolutely smoke a TRX with this little LT4 blower on a 5.3!

I believe the 8 speeds were the transmissions they were having most of the problems with. The supercharger didn’t stay on the truck long.

I never really tested it. If I had to guess, it probably didn’t change a whole lot, unless I kept my foot to the floor. Lol.

If you pay a shop, it is going to cost you quite a bit of money. I can’t remember how much I spent on fixing it myself.

It was pretty quiet, but I did find out that the bypass wasn’t connected, so that was part of my problem.

I’ll be honest, I ended up removing the kit and selling it. The power just wasn’t there for me. It needed a better reservoir for the heat exchanger, and it needed a fuel system to get the most out of the setup. If I were you, I would just go magnuson or whipple. These kits have come down in price since I’ve done this swap, and they usually come with everything you need.

This was almost 4 years ago. It used to be a budget swap, but the prices of the Magnuson and Whipple kits have decreased quite a bit in that time.

I disagree. Im finding lt4 blowers for 12-1500, conversion kit $3900. so $5100-5400. I haven't found a whipple or anything that cheap yet but I have a l86.

I used a factory 2016 z06 heat exchanger, and my IAT’s were kind of high. If you decide to go this route, I highly recommend that you got with at least a bigger reservoir. I believe Cordes performance makes one for these trucks that works really well.

At the time, the LT4 was about half as much as any other kit. But since the video, supercharger kits for these trucks have come down in price. If I were to do this again, I would just go with a full kit.

@@shortstackgarage2063 oh okay cool! I just been looking around and saw your vid! Have you upgraded the transmission? Sorry for the questions I have a 17 Silverado and soon to be paid off and it just seems like a better idea to supercharge than to get a diesel lol.

I actually didn’t keep the kit on the truck long, and I sold the truck a year and a half ago. If you plan on keeping it long term, I would recommend a built trans for it. Also, the biggest problem I had with my kit was keeping the intake air temps down. So I recommend getting a good intercooler and a large exchange/intercooler tank.

I sent it to Jokerz Performance to get it rebuilt. They did an awesome job getting it fixed up.

No problem, I would recommend him because he has been doing supercharger rebuilds for a while now.

I’m not sure how the Cordes performance tank mounts, I never purchased it myself. I only ran an AEM wideband, but if I were to do it again I would run gauges to monitor afr, oil pressure, iat, and boost. Or I would run something that monitors everything and I can watch it all on one screen. I was usually running around with a laptop monitoring all the items that way.

I think it bolts into the area on the opposite side of the battery.

Nope, I used a heat exchanger from a 2016 Z06 Corvette.

Something that I discovered after doing the swap, was that the reservoir was kind of small. The small reservoir doesn’t cycle enough cooled coolant and your IAT’s can get sort of high. In the description of this video I list where I got the parts from. The MAP sensor breakout harness, reservoir and hoses have links to them. The intercooler I used was bought off of eBay. It’s a Corvette Z06 factory intercooler.

Thank you! The paint was pretty close. I probably should have blended it, but I just didn’t know enough to blend at the time. I took a piece of the old quarter panel up to a paint supply and had them match it, and it came out really good. I would suggest finding you a good paint and body supply and seeing if they can match the paint for you.

@@shortstackgarage2063 still in the yard sitting 😂 got a donor quarter from a scrapped Mach1 for it. But also purchased a less of a project black 01 Bullitt that is stripped and being rebuilt nicer now. So the TB one is back to the back burner unfortunately

Supercharger kits for these trucks have come down in cost so much, that it makes more sense to go that route. The LT4 swap was a way to build a budget supercharged truck at the time. But after 2 years, the kits have gotten cheaper, so the cost savings isn’t there anymore. Plus the whipple supercharger is one of the best!

The cost of a whipple has gone down since I made this video. This swap used to be a budget friendly option. If I were to do it again, I would just go aftermarket. The LT4 is cool though.

Thanks for the reply. Having a 2017 ZL1 part of me thinks it would b cool and u can find 15-16 sc for $2500 but I guess the rest of the swap parts add another $3k or so and it's labor intensive vs $6500 for a Whipple Black Friday deal. Thanks!

The Pulley offset is wrong on the camaro supercharger.

@@shortstackgarage2063 that means that you had a wet pump SC and needed a dry pump SC ? Only because the dry pump Sc pulley sits up and out further

I’m curious if you watched the whole video? I said that the one side of the large hose that was on the car was ripped. So I replaced it with the whole piece for the time being. The small hose was connected, you must have missed that. I’m not sure what sensor you’re talking about on the valve cover… that large hole is just a vent hose, or as some people say crankcase vent. As far as the sensor, yes I found out it needed a grommet.

If I would have loosened it, then it wouldn’t have pulled the CV axle out of the transmission. If you loosen the nut, or remove it, you can move the spindle assembly out towards yourself to line up the holes on the strut (or coilover) and bolt them together. If the CV axle comes out of the hub while doing this, it will also be easier to line them back up.

From what I have seen, the corvette heat exchanger works fine with a larger tank. But I’m sure supercharger manufacturers (whipple, magnuson, etc) have nice heat exchangers that would work with some modification.
