Why does the parry work sometimes and not work other times. This is such an annoying and poorly designed boss. The roll glitches pass the pillar half the time too.

This video helped me finally beat this guy. Works even if you don’t have 3 magnifies (didn’t need it on empowerment). Also right at the beginning if you time the haste right even if Gi Nattak goes for Barret the I-frames when casting keep you safe!

This video made me realise you could do the one hit deflect one hit deflect thing in phase 2 to keep isshin from comboing you, and as long as you learn the quick spin and 2 slash followed by the halberd attack timing and don't try to mikiri the sweep after the 4 gunshot attack if you are too close (which feels very silly haha) he's not bad at all. I kept missing the deflect and if you do your attack doesn't interrupt his follow up, so I didn't understand what I was doing wrong. The sword swipe from his right comes out pretty normal speed but the one from his left is deceptively slow, and I was deflecting too early. Anyways crazy achievement, and you helped me beat him on NG+2 with the charm and bell without having to use any special items. Cheers!

The music in this boss fight is epic. Cool to hear the vocals pick up at different phases. FromSoftware is very good at music choice for their games.
