    What Trombone do you play with for marching band? My school prefers us to use straight, small bore trombones (I play on a King 2BSXG), and I don't see many larger bore, f-attachment trombones used for marching in my area.

    • @biggitybiggity_boggs
      @biggitybiggity_boggs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We all play large bore horns and they’re typically Bach 42s or yamaha intermediates. There are a few eastmans and other horns though.

    • @darienyu4790
      @darienyu4790 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's pretty cool, I switched from French Horn to Trombone (made First Chair in my school's top band as a Sophmore 😁) this year and almost got a Bach 42BO for my concert horn, but got a silver plated Conn 88H instead. Might get an upgrade to a Shires or Edwards if I can make it to the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra this year. What horn do you use for Concert season if you don't mind me asking?

    I hope these kids realize how lucky they are to attend a school with such a program. Most, and I say most, American kids do not have access to anything like this. Not only well funded, but extremely well taught.

    • @biggitybiggity_boggs
      @biggitybiggity_boggs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      While we don’t have as much funding as other finalist bands, we still do have a lot compared to so many other organizations and I hope everyone at Hebron recognizes that. I think the middle school teaching is really what has put us in the position that we’re in and I know for a fact how much people are thankful for that. I know I’m very lucky

    • @joshbiddinger1744
      @joshbiddinger1744 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I graduated Hebron in 2012 and was a music major at UTEP for a year. The biggest culture shock between what quickly became two completely different worlds was the approach and attitude towards success and excellence. The expectation at schools like Hebron and Marcus are extremely high. If you goof off or skip a practice or two you'll be replaced by one of the many alternates eager to take the field. I've seen plenty of bands they celebrated a UIL region sweepstakes like it was winning state. The older I've gotten the more I've appreciated the culture and the high demand that started with Mr. Sealy way back in 2003 when he started at Hebron and has slowly built overtime within the program and pushed higher and higher by the student body.

    • @snail415
      @snail415 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joshbiddinger1744 Amen. Excellence is not a purchase. It is a choice. And it has to be engrained and demonstrated by its leader. Once that takes-off, a child who witnesses it quickly sprints towards becoming high-performing adult. Hebron and other like schools recognize that elementary school and middle school are not siloed. They are a system that the high school depends upon to prepare future musicians. Hebron demonstrates the product of this approach, and reaps the benefits. Those unfamiliar to such a culture (of work, of quality, of focus, of selflessness) see it all like an anomaly, or worse, a financial outcome. That bothers me.
