I'm Worldbuilding in Survival Minecraft
This is actually such a fun series
Happy you enjoy!
Im kinda late to the party (and I have yet to watch the other episode posted) but for the bridge as you said it's not necessary to build an entire river. That would be an enormous job and kinda for a detail. But i like details and the fact that a bridge crosses such a shallow terrain could be explained by humans diverting the river flow or something like that. It would also impact this dwarven city as perhaps they might develop animosity towards humans because now they lack water supply (they could be more focus towards war etc) or they got good water supply and loosing the river wasn't harmful on this regard, or the dwarves themselves filled the river up with mining trash. Those are really just ideas and im sure you already have loads of them, but i just thought it'd be interesting to explore how this bridge without a river could influence the dwarves.
Welcome back watersnake! Yeah, I'm not sure I'll take on the river but we'll see! That's an interesting idea though to make it like a dried up riverbed? I have plans for a water source inside the cave as well
I'm liking your series coz I'm also building a dwarven styled survival world of mine. Keep making more episodes plz 🔥🔥
This is supposed to be my forever world so I'll definitely be making more episodes, so stay tuned !
What resource pack/mod is causing your ores to sparkle?!
The mod is called Visuality! Adds some extra particles to the world
@@Shouhi Ty <3 Love the series.
I paused the video made the platform in the end, come back to the video only to hear "sorry bedrock players this just doesn't work for you" 😭
💀 Hopefully, you didn't do it in survival..
someone def gonna recreate balatro in minecraft
Thats awesome! Thanks for the tips.
No problem Capt! It's pretty useful for interiors if you've got the patience for it lol
Have you played return to the mines of Moria? Some large hand made mushrooms in the corners of the caves could add some cool ambience. I like the glass blowing idea! Also having some goats around was a great idea too!
I was trying to figure out how to add some more nature and terraforming so mushrooms are a solid idea. But yeah, goats I imagine would be a good food source for a cave city, providing meat and dairy.
its 2:30 am. I already know how to make transparent map art. what am I doing here?
Here for the good times ofc
transparent map art finally making the rounds
I first posted about it on reddit in 2021 haha, just now getting around to making a video on it
Buccee's FTW lolololololololol
You should have houses hanging from the ceiling
I do plan on having some buildings hanging off walls, not too sure about directly hanging on the ceiling though haha
4:21 There is a pixel in the border of the block U FORGOT TO REMOVE A BLOCK
Clickbait, :( I wish you could do it in survival.
Well, it doesn't say survival in the title. If you don't want to use commands or datapacks, you can still make neat things with it, but the item frame will be visible
Zero clickbait
One time I had 3000 ping or so (about 3 seconds delay), and accidentally made a map as I was teleporting back to my home warp. It’s completely blank, and it just makes the item frame texture bigger. It’s super fun to mess with my friends’ heads with it.
There's probably some pretty cool details you can add with just something simple like that tho!
Data packs and commands _are_ "100% true vanilla". All vanilla means is unmodded, base release, part of the official game. Not survival-friendly.
That's fair, I mostly play survival and people have told me it's not vanilla, so that's what I thought. But that does make sense!
1:44 Hehe 🏳️⚧️-parent map art
Fullmetal Alchemist reference was evil. But the great video is great!
@zawdan606 the transmutation circle map with glowing item frames looks so good though :P
They should add a Vanilla version of invisible item frames. They could make it so that they're only invisible when there's something in them, so you don't accidentally forget that one's been placed somewhere.
I've seen a suggestion to make phantom membranes make them transparent. Would definitely be neat
Glass item frames
@@Shouhi so membrane instead of leather?
Exactly my idea
@@reddst yeah, a quark feature :)
Dallasmed56 gonna be pissed this isn’t in bedrock 😂
His newspaper mapart would definitely be easier to make 🤣
They should sooooo make invisible map art in vanilla!
It's almost vanilla at least! Even if you don't have invisible item frames, you can still make some neat things with it
Incredible video, Shouhi. Looking forward to seeing your next upload. I smashed that thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the fantastic work! Your explanation of transparent map art was fascinating. Have you considered exploring how this technique could be adapted for larger builds or other creative uses within different biomes?
It'd be awesome to incorporate it into larger builds but the downside is it can get pretty laggy depending on your PC. But things you can do with it for example are adding window frames to glass, drapes, timber frames, etc. Depends on your build style! If you're patient you can add "new blocks" and new ore types for different biomes, although you wouldn't be able to actually mine them. Might be cool from a worldbuilding perspective, if you're able to make like a "tin ore" map and make a tin mining site in a different biome.
dai malie tapai ko video dami lago keep it up 🔥🔥
Dominion server rejected my whitelist! ah well, their loss. Not that cool of a server Shouhi 😂
Ah it's worth a shot to reapply! They should typically provide a reason for denial, I think most of the time they want some more thought out answers
This is great, seems so obvious in hindsight, going to use this to great effect in my own world, thanks!
Works great on servers or long term worlds, glad it helped!
128 views with such a video quality??? no wayyy, u got a new sub, looking forward to your new vids!
Haha well I normally make survival videos, so this is new for me. But thanks!
Gonna have to try this sometime!
It's a bit tedious in survival but definitely fun to come up with interesting designs
Special shoutout to the Dominion SMP server and its members for allowing me to showcase some of their maps!
26:16 LOL
Maybe the roofs are a fashion thing the dwarfs picked up from contact with more surface based cultures and while they might not need the steep pitch it was considered aesthetically pleasing and came into fashion a bit later so it's more common nearer the gates and less common near the castle and "old city". It might have also been a kind of engineering challenge. The dwarfs are very experienced with metal and stone, but maybe not as advanced in wood working and when trying to make a wooden roof they just copied the shapes and construction from cultures more used to working with this material. (There are probably a hundred more lore reasons for the roofs.) While you mentioned wanting to go more medium world building and not as intense as Tolkien, one big thing about his world building is the layers. Cultures overlap and influence each other and they change over time
Thanks for the write up! Funny you mention that, because I did think of that as a valid reason aha, something along the lines of being so meticulous with stoneworks, that they also wanted to dabble in woodworking.
Late to the party, but saw no one mentioned the mod. Quality of life mods like that are great for people with a lot going on outside the game. Moving villagers, rerolling trades, etc. add no challenge but a lot of tedium and time sunk. I could see the argument against carrying barrels since that's mechanically closer to a shulker box, but even then barely. Personally, neither bother me.
Think the mods was called "Carry On" but it hasn't updated so it's not on my current mod list. But yeah, I can be quite busy in real life so some of these QOL mods help reduce tedious tasks so that I can progress the world and release content at a reasonable pace
1:30 "As you can tell, I die quite often..." Relatable lol
I thought I'd make a cemetery for all my deaths but it's too many lol. I'll try to do that idea again when I die a bit less
@Shouhi Hahaha that's great. You could do more elaborate, flashy graves for good deaths and just a couple stones for silly ones.
For shops you could have something like a weapons/armor shop then use a Armorer or Fletcher or Toolsmith villager to sell those items, maybe a food market and have a Farmer villager or a few. around that fountain. Potions shop, and have a brewing shop behind/inside it, also using the Cleric or a Witch if you're feeling dangerous. Explosives shop and have it sell tnt/gunpowder/rockets, good excuse for a creeper farm. Deli, using the butcher villager. I think it'd be funny if you could get a few nitwits around the place.
it'd be cool to build with ya
you can use lichen and pumpkin lanterns as lighting, use the back side of the pumpkins as curtains in a closed off building. lichen in area you don't want too much lighting but enough for mobs to not spawn
Awesome suggestions, I did think maybe I could make it as a small trading hall area with different Villagers and then eventually make a larger one if I need to. It'd be cool to try to have Villagers be able to wander the area a bit as well. As for building with me, maybe in the future I can have a server for the creative side of things :)
Just wanted to throw some support on a more recent video! I took a month to find a series to dive into, and I absolutely love the vibe and what you're doing so far! Hope this continues for a long time, I'm invested:)) The views will come, I'm manifesting it!♥️
That's much appreciated :) yeah, this video isn't doing that well compared to my others but definitely will be continuing on!
So glad to hear! The algorithm works in mysterious ways;) But there will be more fruitful days:p And happy to hear you're enjoying the journey yourself as well!
Been waiting for the this !!
Let me know if you have any professions you'd like to see!
@ maybe the one smaller shop that has the big hole in it where u left the iron could be a armorers shop, could have the storefront as you walk in with some weapons in picture frames and a few armor stands showing off their work. With the forge downstairs in a basement-ish area and their living quarters upstairs. If you do get around to seeing this let me know what you think of this idea !
I’ve made like rough idea of insides for the rooms although I’m not nearly as creative with it haha, love to share them w you on the discord if you’d like
@huntersmith9978 good ideas! Since armorers and blacksmiths might be very vital for the economy of a Dwarven city, i might reserve some larger builds for those. Thinking some smaller business' for this street might be good. But maybe adding some smaller armorsmith shops dotted around wouldn't be a bad idea
@huntersmith9978 and yeah, feel free to share them in the discord and I'll take a look
Dwarven city is coming along nicely. Have you seen the Rings of Power series on Prime? There were some good ideas which you could implement…maybe bridges up in the cave, kinda like walkways leading from the living spaces into the sides of the cave…like they are going to their mining areas. Name for the tavern …Hard Rock Inn/Tavern (play on HR Cafe, lol). Keep up the good work!!
I watched most of the first season but never finished it. I did try to take a look at some of the scenes for the dwarven city tho for inspiration! i plan to try to i corporate some bridges and whatnot
Instant sub. Where have you been all my life?!
Graced by Avid! Glad we can be in it now 😤
Idea for a tavern name - Ashen Rest
Black lung incoming haha

I think the danish word you're refering to is "afgrund" which as you mentioned means abyss. It's mostly used when people lose stuff/forget something, or if you hit rock bottom -- kind regards, a dane 😊
Yep, "afgrund" was the word! Hopefully I didn't butcher the pronunciation 😅
@@Shouhimaybe a little 🤏🏼😂
Babe wake up, Shouhi just uploaded a new video!
If you want a bookshop, easy shops to build up to that would be ink producers, a paper mill and one that provides actual books. Papermill also links up to other trades and making contracts etc.
Those do sound good! I honestly need to start working on more farms throughout the world, but that would require starting new cities and towns aha.
@@Shouhi At least with a papermill, historically, it's a bunch of rollers and engines in an awkward square space. Here it would probably be a circle of sugarcane and something to cut it down and put it into a chest. Hey, that means with what's left you can get sugar and thus a confectionary and/or baker.
What buildings do you want to see in the Dwaven City?
Forges, Armorsmiths, Weaponsmiths, Stonecutters, Gemcutters, Miners Guild, Mines everywhere, rails and minecarts, cranes and winches, Magma flowing thru channels and molds like molten iron, bridges, battlements, gems everywhere, taverns, red meat farms, vast columns and statues and tombs of the past kings, soldiers lining the walls of the great entryway... stuff like that.
This guy dwarves for sure. Awesome suggestions!
@@Shouhitombs of past kings sounds like it would be awesome, I was gonna say a tavern but this covered that too !!
