not really sure what you are seeing.....the only few times I had pressure on the reins, was because I was trying to figure out why the headstall gapped. This bit and the hooks....was a completely new system for me. This "poor horse" is very well loved and respected, thank you very much :)

she never takes pressure off the riens !! poor horse, she needs to drop the reins. just sayin

this is just the first time using this "system" as a schooling aid. What I liked is the fact where there were moments where she reached for contact. Not like her at all......she normally does her trotting with her head in the clouds lol! We'll see how it goes, and hopefully there will be continued improvement. I'll post again with an update.

Thanks for this video.. well done... it is quite a challenge to video tape on a horse :) I do all of my trail riding so far in the Elk and Beaver Lake area.. so this is kind of neat to see..

I think if I get a horse I will enter it into this. I think we would do really well.

Your'e doing a fine job. Allow yourselves a while to get used to the new feel. I use a Myler 04 D-ring with hooks too. It may take your horse a little while to trust that this bit is not going to hurt her like the old ones may have. Keep it up. You're looking good.

Try rewarding him (her) by dropping the reins when he drops his head - it's the reward he's looking for and has earned. The gapping on the bridle is normal. Look inside his mouth to see where the bit is working when you take up the reins. He may like it to lie lower on his bars and further away from his premolars. Just a thought. Give him a few rides to get used to the new feel. You're on the right track. He has a nice sensitive mouth. Good job and you gotta love Arabs!
