I've learned that most people spey so they can say "I am a spey fisherman" just like the people who say "I only bow hunt" spey fisherman and bow hunters they want everyone to know and rejoice that they do it so weird. Then you all perpetuating a lie that fky fishing is inherently "harder or better" than any other fishing and that's just not the case. I taught myself how to skagit and scandi in under 1 month. Real men swing spoons 😅😅

Is it worth it NO it's worth so much more once that steelhead is on all problems are gone your warm etc. there is no other fishing as addictive as steelheading

They just train these fish junkies to cry for more fish.If you want hatchery fish go to Tokul creek.They have been getting records.Actual wild steelhead have held pretty steady and improving in many places.Usually the days that I am banging them there is nobody else out there.They have been switching over to more wild brood so the fish are returning much later when everybody goes springer fishing.Early hatchery tards are going away.

So past the competitive nature of angling. Don't show up at dawn either. Simply take joy in casting a run well swung with a long line. That's the joy, knowing if a fish is there, it saw my fly.

Two handed rods were obsolete 50 years before you were born.Tackle industry just loves suckers.Expensive rods,reels,lines of dubious worth taking the place of genuine expertise.Carry on,whatever floats your boat.

With the numbers as they are you've got to kind the deeper aspects of the pursuit. It was MUCH "easier" 20 years ago. Now you've got the love the whole experience. Headed to Smithers on Sunday, with the knowledge that everything; from the drive to running the boat through beautiful country, with the mere possibility of a few hookups is what it's about.
