    I’m am 18 and have cerebral palsy on the right side of my arm and sometimes my mom would tell people I have that and to me it feels more like embarrassment than actual help I’ve always been afraid to open up about it especially if I want to be in a relationship because I’m afraid if I do she’ll see me as weak and not strong.

Don't be afraid of questions. People are curious about you. Turn it into an opportunity to meet people. Most if not the vast majority of people have no idea of my skills and background.

    Having mild CP, can also affect U wanting , getting & keeping a job . As much as what may see others with disablities maybe working? But there's still alot of discriminations in the workplace that people with disablities still face that most people especially non disabled people ( family, friends etc) don't realize nor really want to accept just in the same way as with Ur disablities. Things that they might not want to understand etc Plus employers can also give U a different pay scale than non disabled people doing the same job . It's usually 10xs or more harder for people with disablities ( especially physical disablities) to find & maintain a good job and careers vs non disabled people in our society etc . It's sad that our society see a person who has a good job and making a certain amount of $$$ or the earnimg potential as a status of success. That's something that we as a society have been trained to look at tyimg a job to our purpose in life. If U have a good job Ur valued & have meaning & purpura in life. We oftentimes tie those two things together onto one thing that I can say women ( today) usually look at someone who's able to get a good job and careers to provide for them and their dreams etc Maybe this something you can talk about in a future videos?

    Ok have a question for you. Most people I know esp family, women I d like to date oftentimes look down on me because I'm not working, whenever I explain the reasons why I feel that I don't have a job ......the discrimination in the hiring process, the lower wages the we as the disabled people get, etc this is a problem I've had since I was a kid. Now I'm on ssi so my family is constantly looking down on me for being on ssi ( public welfare ) etc . Saying that they're really tieB of me freeloading off " the system " when they feel strongly that I can get a ajust like they've etc. Being a single father, I'm doing the best I can on ssi . Even whenever I did have a job it never lasted long because of my CP ( symptoms) won't allow me to physically keep up with the job functions I needed to do like the rest of the non disabled people who are doing the same things. So any advice on how to handle this part of our lives, it also sucks being on ssi and wanting to date being a male we're supposed to be able to have a good paying job be the provider etc But instead my CP prevents me from a good job, a great relationship and a good quality of life like everyone around me seems to have I've had this burden my entire adult life it's caused me to have chronic depression and anxiety etc my therapist says nothing can be done to make my family members etc change thier opinions etc. But it's still a struggle to deal with that they can't actually accept this part of my CP and how it affects my life. Even though they are doing whatever they feel is best for me since I've got a mild case of CP it mainly affects my legs( walk with a limp 2 bad knees, can't run or bend down without pain or needing help up ) and hand eye cordiation but otherwise I get around as normal as everyone else (80-90%) without needing anyone s help etc

    • @cerebraltalks
      @cerebraltalks 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well thank you for sharing your story with me and the best advice I can give you to ask god and his Jesus Christ for help and insight for your chronic depression and the things you need help with I feel you on wanting a great relationship a good paying job and to be given a chance and yes the physical limitations do get in the way often especially when you are trying your hardest to keep up with everyone else but please don’t let it get you down and leaves you feeling discouraged you are going to get all the things you truly want in due time trust the process I’m here if you need a friend and I’m proud of you you are trying your best don’t give up you got this and thank you for watching

      @@cerebraltalks my family looks @ conditional expectations, " U have to achieve this, do this, have that( a job, money, a car, nice home etc ), in order to be successful well loved person in life & have a great etc. Even though I can do something s (80-90% without help from anyone else) I still struggle with the rest of it. My family say that they accept me but I think that the only reason Y they deal with me is because of my mom and my Son. Otherwise, they wouldn't have anything to do with me especially now that we're all older and have busy lives of our own( they're working 12+ hour days, 6 days a week and other interets as well in their lives, same goes with most people I know too ) etc. My brothers oftentimes look down on me sarcasticly ( humor) At times. Because of this and other things that they point out that's wrong in my life according to what they see etc. But dispite these concerns I give it over to God for Him to deal with since I can't change anyone else. I didn't ask for this didn't want this to happen to me. Oftentimes I think what would my life be without this Prison of CP. Etc in my head & heart I'm living the best life I want & can live. But physically with CP I'm not......... I'm caught between two world's
