    Fantastic video. I recently discovered this religion after searching for something I can follow that I really resonate with. Your description was really helpful and easy to follow. I feel inspired. Thanks for putting it on TH-cam to make this knowledge accessible :)

    Its really ironic that this is being taught by someone that broke up a 25 year marriage in order to be with her professor, who she is now married to. I have no idea how anyone would see andrea as being qualified to talk about ethics.

    Hi, there, I hope you are well. I saw that your TH-cam videos are very lovely and very helpful. You have enough of the videos but your video is not getting views because there is some problem with your videos .Title and Description are not SEO friendly .Your SEO score is very poor (0% out of 100)and you need optimization for better results. If you update the videos then the views of the video will increase. If you want you can discuss with me. Thanks

    Guru Teg Bahadur ji gave their life protecting Hindu religion. Hindu Pandits were forcefully being converted to Islam. Hindu Pandits asked Guru ji help. Guru ji told the Muslims ruler if they can convert Guru ji to Islam than all the Hindu pundits will accept Islam. 🙏 Waheguru Guru ji did not convert to Islam and were brutally tortured and assassinated ji

    Christianity spread mainly by their "convert them or kill them" attitude (The crusades, the inquisition, burnings, hangings, torture, etc).

    The claim the scholars are unbiased and only look at facts is ridiculous. It's long been noted scholars find what they want to find and Professor Dominic Croissandwich finds that Jesus was a social justice warrior - too funny.

    I don't like that you equate "New Religions" with "cults". That this is "benign" use of the term is good to point out but not ALL cults are benign and media/common use of the term is prejorative. Not all "New Religions" deserve the label "cult" in the commonly assumed negative implications of the term. Due to your equating "new Religions" with "cults" (benign as it may be) I cannot use your video with my students. They will not discern the meaning, despite you pointing it out.

    • @randomsofa7844
      @randomsofa7844 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have to disagree with your concern. Professor Andrea Diem-Lane is simply pointing out the sociological definition of a cult -- a religious group that is socially divergent from its environment. She goes on to point out that such groups can transform and lose this title as a cult as the religion begins to conform to society or society begin to conform around it. A great example is Christianity, which started as a cult, off sprung from Judaism. It was distinctly a cult, rather than a Jewish sect for example, due to the radically different nature of Christianity. As such, historians often refer to early Christianity as "the cult of Christianity". Furthermore, Professor Diem-Lane points out that there is indeed a difference between problematic and non-problematic cults. Perhaps that distinguishment can help your students identify between the denotative and connotative meanings of the word? I'm confident that your students will be able to see the difference.

    • @brandonlangford8801
      @brandonlangford8801 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      She also points out that there are problematic New Religions and ones that are not problematic. On top of that, she explains that the term "cult" does not mirror the stereotypes and stigma that the media has given it.

    Please understand that in NO WAY intended to degrade you or your present belief. the Sikh religion - are man-made and therefore, invalid. Man has taken bits and pieces of the of the world religions, Sikhism preaches a message of devotion and remembrance of God at all times, truthful living, equality of mankind and denounces superstitions and blind rituals. Sikhism is open to all through the teachings of its 10 Gurus enshrined in the Sikh Holy Book and Living Guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The word 'Sikh' in the Punjabi language means 'disciple', Sikhs are the disciples of God who follow the writings and teachings of the Ten Sikh Gurus. they are still HUMAN endeavors. Sikhism follows the teachings of ten human "gurus".who decides how we are to behave as believers. The Sikh Holy Book was written by humans, not "God-breathed",It was founded only 500 years ago, which tells us it's an "offshoot" of something else, and totally man-made. The Sikh Holy Book, the Guru Granth Sahib, numbers some one thousand pages and includes writings from prominent Muslim and Hindu spiritualists. Sikhism has a total of Ten Gurus whose teachings Sikhs follow and many Hindu and Muslim Saints whose teaching are incorporated in the Sikh's perpetual authority, the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This tells us that Sikhism has incorporated the ideas of other "religions" - ALL of which are "off the mark" One God: - There is only One God. He is the same God for all people of all religions. Then WHY are there so many "religions"? God wants us to worship HIM and ONLY Him, in the way He WANTS to be worshiped - not in a way of our own choosing! There is only ONE God who has infinite qualities and names; S/He* is the same for all religions; God is Creator & Sustainer -All that you see around you is His* Creation; S/He* is everywhere, and in everything; S/He is fearless and with no Enemies; Only God is without birth or death and S/He* has and will exist forever. MALE and that His main enemy is Satan! This can be evidenced by the way man has continued to be "carnal" and sinful, despite all his good intentions. The world is more decadent than ever; children no longer mind their parents; the Ten Commandments are totally ignored by many (if not most); there are more abortions and murders of all kinds than ever before. In the entire history of man, there have only been about three hundred years of peace. Re-incarnation, Karma & Salvation: - Every creature has a Soul; on death, the Soul is passed from one body to another until Liberation. The journey of the Soul is governed by the deeds and actions that we perform during our lives. Many Paths lead to God: Sikhs are not Special: The Sikhs are not the chosen people of God - By just calling yourself a Sikh does not bring you salvation. Christian, Hindus, Muslim, Jews, etc have the same right to liberty as a Sikh. No Special Worship Days: Sikhs do not believe that any particular day is holier than any other. Conquer the 5 Thieves: It every Sikhs duty to defeat these 5 thieves: Pride (a'Hankar), Anger (Kr'odh), Greed (Lob'H), Attachment (Mo'H), and Lust (C'ham) (P.A.G.A.L) Excellent idea, but simply not "do-able" from a human perspective because Satan lives in our midsts and leads us astray. Try as we might, we ALWAYS end up succumbing to these things! Him I serve who at the last shall save. The Lord of universe of the Hindus, Gosain and Allah to me are one; From Hindus and Muslims have I broken free. I perform neither Kaaba pilgrimage nor at bathing spots worship; One sole Lord I serve, and no other. I perform neither the Hindu worship nor the Muslim prayer; To the Sole Formless Lord in my heart I bow. We neither are Hindus nor Muslims; Our body and life belong to the One Supreme Being who alone is both Ram and Allah for us." Any human being who faithfully believes in: (i) One Immortal Being, (ii) Ten Gurus, from Guru Nanak Dev to Guru Gobind Singh, (iii) The Guru Granth Sahib, (iv) The utterances and teachings of the ten Gurus and, (v) the baptism bequeathed by the tenth Guru, and who does not owe allegiance to any other religion is a Sikh." Allah, while the word itself is Arabic for "God" - expects YOU to die for HIM, Yes, there is only ONE Creator, but WE humans have made Him into something unrecognizable. Sikhs have no relationship with Christians ,Jews ,Muslims , whatsoever. Sikhism is nothing more than just another borrowed and "tailored-to-suit" religion designed to view the world through rose-colored glasses,

    What I walk away from this video with is the idea that Sikhism at it's heart IS a religion of peace, even if it had to change drastically to survive, and if given the opportunity Sikhs would create a nation where they could in fact live in peace; in other words, at it's core, Sikhism is more respectable than the Abrahamic religions. Ok, I can get behind that.

    • @Mustekalan

      I have no idea whether you're trolling or not but since you literally opened with "I think th Sikh where prophesied even in Star Wars" I'm gonna go with troll. Not even a good troll, either, like a really shitty troll. Try harder next time.

    • @Mustekalan
      @Mustekalan 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, I hate to break it to you, but, um… I'm not Sikh. I was merely implying that Sikhism doesnt have as much violence behind it as the Abrahamiv faiths. I mean hell I could be wrong, but I'll need to read the scriptures to see for myself, not some random internet comment.

    Jainism was not founded but was discovered by Lord Mahavir ,The names of Rushabhdev and Neminath are mentioned in the Vedic canonical books. This makes Jainism as older as the Vedic religion, if not older.

    The tenth Guru two youngest sons did not die in battle, but were bricked alive in public because they would not convert into Islam and stayed as Sikhs till their last breath. The five K's is for both men and women. A Sikh currently has only one Guru, the Guru Granth Sahib. There can be no living guru other than that, someone cannot call themselves a Sikh and have a person as a living guru. A person can be a leader in the community but not be a guru. Kaur more commonly referred to as lioness.
