South East Dual Sport Ride - Virginia to Florida
For this trip, we loaded up the bikes from Sanford, Florida to Washington DC. We took the road due West and started the trail in West Virginia, specifically the Mid Atlantic Back Country Discovery Route (MABDR). We took that (and some of the MABDR HARD routes, provided by Stravaig ADV, check out his channel below) all the way to Damascus VA, where we then took the South East Adventure Trail (SEAT) to Georgia, where we then jumped on the Georgia Adventure Trail (GAT) all the way to Florida. Once in Florida, we tried to jump on some of the Florida Adventure Trail (FAT) but the torrential downpour left us to take the roads back home.

Trail Roamers on the Smokey Mountain 500, with some different routes in between. Counterclockwise from Ellijay, GA. On day 3, we took some other routes, including some from the SM500 , the Trail 51, and at the end, some back roads I knew about that lead back to the Ellijay start location.
shoot I wished I knew you was doing this route I would have ask to join you all Im here in Va. just outside of Damascus
Awesome group, wish I went!
Thats my kind of good times. Rain, Mud, dropped bikes, questionable people... etc.
All the above haha
Hey man what trail is this??
Windy Gap
@SteveValtin windy gap is in north Caroline? No?
Sweet jumps. Horsies! Sliding dismount! Action packed. At the end of the world, Iceland!
What were those two Yamaha models?
Yz450FX and WR450F
Just because you have the scratch to buy the Duck, don’t mean u can’t F up🤪
Lucky to get to ride with 11! So awesome to have a group like that.
Epic!!
Very good…thanks!
would You say that its doable for beginner offroad rider? wanna do this trip soooo bad, but I am just barely starting riding offroad ... :O :O
I would recommend getting fairly knowledgable with off road riding before tackling this terrain.
This guys @ Ride with Locals (tour organizers) do take your skills into account, but you better be comfortable with riding loose dirt with rocks embedded in it, at the very least.
Incredible trip!!
Awesome video!!!🔥
Yeah y'all were on a hiking trail at one point and lucky that guy didn't tumble down the hill bike on top of him
All OHV trails.
Xr650L ?
What part of the SM500 is that long shallow rocky water crossing?
Hmm I don't recall exactly
@@SteveValtin Fair enough. Thanks for responding.
This is awesome! Is this all the sm500? I’m going on Monday
Dual sport is the way to go.
Can you upload the track please?
I have the names listed in the description
Good video. Enjoyed watching.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Are there update gpx tracks ?
Not that I know of, but try looking at the threads on advriders
@@SteveValtinIs this not the official Southeast Adventure Trail? If so, the GPX file is readily available online.
Trail 82 at the 2:33 mark? :D
Yup!! Good eye
Best little video I’ve seen of it yet. We do this trip once or twice a year haha never gets old! Headed up in a couple weeks, praying for beautiful riding conditions!
Have fun!
I am Jacked after seeing that, wow, that’s what I’m talkin bout! Awesome music too. Now I need to find some old slow bros to do it with or I don’t have to try it solo.
I’ve watched a good bit of adv vids and must say you fellers /bikes/ determination/ routes hopp me up the most . The edit and choice of tunes in this vid was spot on bros. I live in Athens Ga and will be crossing some of those rivers again this wknds in N. Ga w/ my bros and was pleased to find your content during the work week. See ya on the trail 💪
Thanks man! I appreciate the comment
Motorection🤘
cool ride
The sm500 loos like a blast!
Where is Trail 51 located? I am doing the SM500 starting tomorrow :)
Close to McFarland in Tennessee I believe. There is a map of it on ADV Rider forum. Hope you had fun!
🤘😊
Great video, looks fantastic but you gotta stay in your lane.
Beautiful trip. What GPX file did you use for navigation? Maybe a link to it?
I approve of the number of wheelies in this video.
Was the majority of your video the standard trail or where parts or much from the harder alternates? Particularly the overgrown trails and the backflip bank.
Standard trail for 95% of the route - but yes this road washout was special
Oh I see FEF800
If you did it again would you opt for a larger twin or triple cylinder adventure bike?
Do you plan on finishing the ride? the bottom half is wonderful!!
Absolutely, we're going to start from the bottom this time and work our way up!
@@SteveValtin Awsome!! I just finished the bottom last year, completely different but equally rewarding ride, I was riding a 99' Xr650L as well, the old girl never had a hiccup and it has a ton of miles with no rebuilds. good simple bikes! Be safe!!
Hope to do that ride the week of Labor Day . If my Tenere 700 ever shows up!!! Where did you get the GPX file for the ride?
advrider.com/f/threads/seat-south-east-adventure-trail.1225114/
Steve Valtin already have it downloaded in my Garmin. And my bike will be here in the next few days. The dealer just got the invoice
Do you think that old bridge in AL is passable by truck/Jeep? .... assuming the beams line up with the tires.
@@Outdoors-ef7tz assuming they do and (let's be honest) you have a big pair of balls, yes. However, there is some kind of barrier after that where you may need to try to go around
Loved it, Love the Big Red Pigs. We road the Alabama and Florida sections this springs also. Looks like yall did it right. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!!
Now that looked like a LOT of fun! Great job with the music and editing.
Thanks!!
How long did it take? Ride report on ADVrider? This is on my list.
2 full weeks, not including the first group having to fly to Montana and uhaul the bikes to Edmonton
Look like a blast! : )
