Great Interview
Sounds great..... I love all his responses 🤝🏾
I think one category not mentioned among the categories of people that delved or tried to analyze her speech is the category of people who believe Liberia can be better when granted total choice to befriend which nation she desires the best, not allowing ourselves to be compared to succumb to the US primarily. Probably I may not have placed it rightly.
Noted, thanks.
This discussion is very educative.
Thanks

Great listen!
Thanks
Thanks to the interviewer and interviewee for a rich and insightful discussion. Octavius did an awesome job which reflected careful preparation! I really liked the mix of thoughtful questions based on a careful reading of Mr. Cassell’s work combined with a relaxed approach including an occasional interjection of humor. I also appreciated the flow of subjects - from the personal and very revealing introduction to some high-level and hard-hitting strategic matters before closing on sports and development.. Thanks Donald for providing much food for thought to an intellectually famished audience.
Historian of only modern history or ancient history?
@@samuelb.austinfiel738 What’s your take or takeaway?
@@octaviusobey299 well, I'm historian not politician. But speaking in terms of historical strategy, the young lady was on point about many things.
A wealth of information! Thanks so much for this interview.
Most of this is good feel story . we need to see scientific and historical documented facts. As for the Ghana's 'return' was just a marketing tool to get $$$ . Liberia's case is about the freed slaves wanting to enslave the locals till today
Ha! An alternative view of our history. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Give event that happened in Liberia before 1822
See the book, Between The Kola Forest And The Salty Sea: A History Of The Liberian People Before 1800, by Carl Patrick Burrowes.
So what year was slavery abolished in Liberia?
Very eloquent.
Great video,, are you still in contact with Dr. Burrowes? I'm interested interviewing him
Certainly!
What’s your contact info?
Great
Thanks.

These titles are rubbish. It gives the appearance that most people have issues with who created the Liberia we know of today.
Thanks for the comment! So what’s your suggestion? What do you think the titles should have been?
My deepest sympath, Madame Ambassador, may your dear brother continue to rest peacefully 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Congratulations to both Obey and the ambassador! I truly appreciate this interview, as I learned so much it.
Charles Gbenyon died as as a result of the failed Quiwonkpa invasion of 1985.
Peripherally correct. But there are still more questions than answers!
This was a very enlightening conversation. As a Liberian in the diaspora and who didn’t grow up in Liberia, I’m always looking for ways to learn more about my country. I’ll be buying the book. Thank you, continue the great work.
Always a pleasure. Thanks for the kind words. It encourages us to keep on. Please spread the word.

Thanks for that beautiful HISTORY of Liberia 🇱🇷 👏
Liberia & freedom is an oxymoron, that US colony doesn't have a clue.
Which country are you from?
Final time I will ask the simple question. Which country are you from?
The real oxymoron is someone spewing baseless insults while pretending to know history.
@loujackk, where is the insult?
Where was the insult spewed?
I have been following all of the history of every country in Africa. I was amazed to find out about the Bassa and Gola tribes and how they spread all over most of West Africa and part of Latin America. But listening to Dr. Burrowes on Liberia before 1847 really lifted me more as a 🇱🇷. Just want to say thank you both for the subject well narrated .
I will pass the kind words to Dr. Burrowes. Thanks and please subscribe.
We need a chronological history.
I agree.
The interviewer interrupted the chronological flow and went on to a topical flow.

Under normal circumstances, no. But did you get the alternative explanation about the gun proffered by Dr. Burrowes?

Thank you so much for this discussion Octavius. I purchased the audiobook not to long ago and there were some questions that I had at the time, that were answered in this interview. Thank you so much as well Dr. Burrowes. I am 26 and Liberian I find it extremely necessary to be feed the whole history of my country which this book helps so much with. He is well informed about Liberia. My prayer and hope is that he writes a comprehensive history of Liberia (political, economic, social) to serve our high schools.
I will pass the word on to Doc. Please subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already.
We as African learned during the time of the Babylon when kings were visiting the Babylon in showing what they have, where they came from and the educational level
I will disagree with some of the information given. The region of west Africa was long ruled by the Milan empire 💯 percent
So the westerners invented guns and bullets, built ships and travel to Africa, captured Africans while they were hunting or farming and took them back to the village to buy them? I know folks (my African ancestors) were captured and enslaved.
So, was it the finding of Liberia which had an initial and profound ending of slavery or essentially a powerful movement in the ending of slavery? In other words, those who were mainly involved had their eyes opened - so to speak, wide opened because of such movement and how things were going.
This was wonderful content! Thank you Dr. Burroughs for your time and also thank you Mr. Obey for providing this wonder resource for this information to reach us.
Always a pleasure. We will continue this work. You can help us reach more people; subscribe to the channel, like the video and share it with your contacts. I will pass on the sentiments to Dr. Burrowes.
