Did the birds egg production recover after going back to the initial livestock Layers feed?
They are currently recovering , things are lots better though they are yet to get back to what they were producing before we switched
Good morning boss🎉🎉🎉
You are the boss ooo , 😀😀. Good day ma'am
Good morning
Trust you are doing well ? Thanks for watching

Thanks for the update
You are welcome. Thanks for watching
Nice video, Pls is there any egg depots where farmers can sell all their eggs to
@SherifdeenMuhammed-c3o none that I am currently aware of . You mean like a farmers market ? However there are lots of people always looking to bulk buy. Are you are farmer with lots of eggs? If yes, you can reach out to me via email , poultrywithmodupe@gmail.com
Nice video please how can I get in contact with you
Thank you for watching. Please send me an email, poultrywithmodupe@gmail.com
You are doing well ❤
Hello, thanks for the lovely video as always, hopefully i will meetup with the live video one of these days. Please 1 questions, do you wait till you notice some issues with your birds before you give them antibiotics, or do you normally have a schedule likey monthly?
You are welcome , 😊 I also look forward to you joining the livestream . I use to wait till I notice something , then a vet person said if I was waiting to see something wrong, then it means things have gone significantly wrong before it shows . So we have a schedule , 4 ot 6 weeks
Thank you. Please what's the name of the medication you use in spraying the cages for lice? And is it okay to spray on your birds also or just the empty cages. @modupemonebi
We use pour on , or cypermethrin. This however has to be done in moderation , the feeders has to be covered and the water cups cleaned after spraying
Use tweezers
Thia noted ams definitely will be used for a next time . I appreciate you watching . Thank you 😊
Nice one ...I think there is one thing i need to add which is finding a good quality D.O.C ...as some D.O.C comes up with C.R.D and other genetic illness that tamper with the entire production circle....nice video indeed keep it up sister!
You are very correct about some birds coming with CRD. Thank you for your contribution
Hopefully the drop rate has improved Next time you try to change feed, do like a sample batch e.g. 100 chickens rather than all the hens at once Regarding spent laying birds, its about 6,000 I disposed of last with the offtaker adding 500-1000 to sell So that 6,500 seems okay but you do your math and dispose seeing them just dey chop your feed without commensurate production Cheers
Thank you very much for your contribution , we indeed learn and re learn in this business .
You are doing well ❤
Thank you 😊
Nice teaching thanks ❤
Thank you very much for always sharing knowledge with you out here.. Much appreciated 🙏 Please can you share with me, which farm do you normally get your point of lay isa brown.. Please I will be waiting to here from you.
Thank you for watching. The farm is in Ijebu , Ogun state . Please send me an email , poultrywithmodupe@gmail.com so I can share the details of my contact at the farm
What type of livestock layer mash are you using on your farm and has the livestock feed gave you up to 90%
We use the Premium Layer Mash . The feed hasn't gotten us to 90%
How do you manage water pls, my birds are always hydrated, weak and some time die, I use nipple system
How do you manage water pls, my birds are always hydrated, weak and some time die, I use nipple system
@pksedu-aidmedia7147 you may need to check all the water nipples to be sure they aren't blocked . Particles from the borehole or sediments from medications may block the pipes thereby preventing water from getting to the birds. You may also need to clean inside the pipes
Why do you need people to be in the farm that early? Employers should know that people have a life. The earliest working time should be at 8am.
Certainly, employers should know that people have a life . You should also understand that certain jobs require certain level of attention as it is best that layer chickens have their first feed before 7 am considering that my country is a tropical one and the sun comes out early . I hope this helps. Thanks for watching
@@modupemonebi I am Nigerian myself, so I know exactly what you are talking about. I also know how underpaid these farm workers in Nigeria are. I am not attacking you personally, It is just a reminder for employers. Because the conditions of labor are truly terrible for these workers. Pay them well and see how well they do their jobs. Goodluck!
I see birds eating with the chicken hope they will not bring diseases to the farm
Good evening ma, the last time you talked about some of your workers about stealing the eggs it makes me feel discouraged about this project. What if your not around how will they run the business.
Good day sir , You shouldn't be discouraged , I am certain every business have their own challenges , one just have to out tighter measures in place . Wishing you a the best with your projects
Pls can u show us how your bird's litters are been packed under the cage's, thanks for the lasota video also hope you've installed some solar CCTV now ? Thanks ❤❤
You are welcome I'd show how the litter is being packed when I am at the farm while the sanitary man is working We do have cameras at the farm , the thieves have just mastered their way around the pen
@modupemonebi thanks
Put in place a system to stop stealing. keep proper records. Theft and mismanagement is the 2 top challenges of poultry business. Either you staffs are competent or not, you must spend more time on the farm to Identify even what is beyond theft.
Hi @modupemonebi good day ma'am all u need rn is a solar cctv once evening feeding is done reverse the footage to checked properly including thier behaviour when feeding nd picking egg's in my own suggestions, I would be glad if u can show how u do packed ur poultry waste in the next video also thnks 4 the lasota video as well . Thank u ma'am 💓 💗
Good Job 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you
From what you have narrated one can deduce a lot of lapses on your part. Are you aware that there is something called "theft management"? Look, to tackle theft, you need data. You have caged birds. Those cages must have daily data of feed to eggs production. Each cage must be numbered and every egg from each cage must be written down. If there is a change you will know within a day when you run your report. Also you need security, both human and non-human such as cameras. Most importantly, this is a business. You must separate your business with your charity work. Once you fire anyone, never, ever take them back especially if they are suspected of stealing.
Hello dear.. Please ma, I am a poultry farmer, dealing with layer hens.. Please can you advise me where you get your point of lay.. And have you use them for a while and is there production percentage okay???
It's indeed a heartbroken occurrence. I used to have a small rented layer poultry until April 20024. It has not been a good story. I had to leave the place to go back home to start all over again with 100 broilers. My take on this is that any business you can not give 80% of your time, there is 100% tendency for the unfaithful staff to jeopardise ones investment. No matter how kind you are to them, they won't hesitate to steal from you. Poultry business should not be taken as a side hustle if you want to succeed in it. Layers production is like ATM for the farmer so it requiresthe farmer full attention to minimise thefts on the farm with maximum security and CCTV to monitor. Sorry for your loss. It's well Mrs Modupe.
Thank you very much for your contribution, I appreciate it
Soo painful I missed this live stream 😢. Awon staff ole😂 Good morning Mrs Modupe this is soo painful … I soo much feel your pains. If staff can steal with cctv in place then….
God help farmers
I have been following the events at your farm from the feed issue to the theft one… so sorry for all that. For the theft one, you can only put enough measures in place and keep firing people until you get an honest one you can build around. I’m not a fan to living in the farm. The owner of ShopRite doesn’t live in Nigeria and has that business in more than one country. Cheers and all the best as you navigate this difficult path.
Thank you very much for your words of encouragement.
Hello Modupe, so sorry to hear this, l have been so happy watching your videos, since l came across your video you did about encouraging diasporans on how they can invest in Nigeria. I only became your follower just about 2 months ago and l can easily tell that you don’t micro manage your staff truly and hearing about theft now, got me thinking about how else can one work together with these our Nigerian workforces and these are the huge challenges in being an entrepreneur in Nigeria and this is a major factor that is causing discouragements for we diasporans, you can imagine them having the nerves to steal from you that can visit the farm unannounced, what do you think they will do for we that live thousands of miles away. Do you know that, what was going through my mind as l watched your video about you trying another feed because of alleged drop in the egg production was possibilities of THEFT, and l actually voiced it out to my husband as l watched the video, l told my husband that, it’s good that, you did not mention the name of the company that sold the feed to you, now see what is happening, Nigerian workers are something else mehn. Modupe you have been an inspiration to me personally because your videos has helped me to start thinking of investing in the motherland after sojourning abroad for the past 38 years and l commend you for bringing this to our attention as well, so that one can see the pros and cons in the poultry business, which some of us are aware of already anyways, because someone like me, l do a lot of research, which is typical of we living abroad because making money here is not easy and we would normally do our research before investing in any business. So please Modupe, don’t take any advice people may have been giving you as unrealistic, l know, because of the insecurity issues in Nigeria, it may not be possible for you to live on your farm, like in this part of the world that l live in, farmers live on the farm. But just like you have rightfully said, you have to step up your security measures, so, since you cannot be at your farm at all times, for the reasons best known to you, then your security measures have to be top notch, in this day and age, you don’t have to be there at all times, but fix whatever needs to be fixed in your security system and get them working 24/7, so that you are able to watch what is going on in your farm 24/7, if you notice that, they are tampering with your cameras, address it immediately, by taking these measures, they will not get comfortable stealing from you and anyone that cannot cope without stealing will be the one to leave without you even sending them away. Then, as you have rightly said too, from now on, don’t keep workers for too long, change them time to time. I pray that, the Almighty God will send good workers your way, l also pray that, the almighty God will create the right spirit within our workforce in Nigeria, so that they can start seeing the reason for them to encourage entrepreneurs who are making efforts to provide jobs for them, unlike our non-existent government, who don’t give a toss about them. Remain strong and always blessed Modupe.
Mrs modupe; I will blame you. When it comes to poultry farming, you are meant to be there in person.. you take it as your business. Secondly, you allowed a lot of things that are not allowed into a poultry farm? Try visit obasanjo farm and see how it goes. Do not trust any of your staffs. Also, CCTV cameras should be placed in no_lock zones. It's a zone that maps d critical 3D angle of your poultry. Most of this mistakes you are making should have been negated a longtime ago. Use the principle of no clear, no open strategy. This is what it means: if you have three units, lock two, open one. When they are done in one, you go with them to the next...till you finish. Finally; change your mode of recruitment. It's a key. In a bank, the reason why they ask staffs/employees to bring level 13 guarantors in government establishment is to deter them from stealing. So, during your recruitment, use a bit of police involvement and let them sign undetaken. Also, abandon that old method of cage system. You will think it's cheap but trust me, it's not. Allow 35% of layers to roam and lay inside boxes within your unit. Constrained birds don't last 1.15 yrs of laying. We have birds here, laying for 1 yr 5 months, 75% -laying capacity and not slowing down. They are not caged. Imagine a woman who is having sex in one same position and not allowed to move around ? Even d eggs won't adhere to the feeds.
Thank you very much for your contribution, I'll keep this in mind.
@@modupemonebi also, I saw in one of your videos where u talked about selling old layers. As at October 27, we sold #7500 per old layers. Definitely, it should go higher than that by December. How we sold ours was kind of different. We went to three churches on the island. Gave their gatemen some freebies, then we inserted flyers with a caption 'Buy 2 tasty layers, Get a crate of egg for 4500'. If I'm not mistaken, we inserted over 400 flyers. As luck would smile on us, we got a lot of high_value orders, and today, the rest is history. Please dear, think out of the box when selling your product. Have a stand in areas where they have good purchasing power.
So sorry dear in this hard time l know how much am putting in my farm God help us
God help us . All these attendants don't know hard time once they have set their eyes to being thieves
The lock-nut looks like they are not tightened enough, ask a man around to tighten it for you so it doesn't come off on motion. Is important, and continue to stay safe.
Thank you . Though I have gotten a new tyre and this has been fixed by a professional.
Modupe thanks for sharing your experiences on your farm. I've been learning so much from you. I need to ask you when you change to layer's mash, at what % laying? About the theft, so sorry this happened, it's really painful when this happens on one's painful investment and efforts, plus the loss you experienced with that wrong feed. Oga o, our folks sha, you'll be pitying them, and even going out of your way helping them, whereas they're stealing and faking up. You ll surely overcome 💪🏾 ✨️ ❤️. Please let this always be your watch word, EVERY STAFF IS A SUSPECT THEIF!!! Make sure you have cctv at every strategic place and search everyone when leaving the gate. And not more than one bag is allowed to be carried in or out. Well-done you have overcome 💪🏾 🙌 🙏🏽 👏🏽 ❤️
Thank you very much for your contribution. We'd always overcome these wicked people. You are right one had to treat them all as the thieves they are . I usually change to layer mash from 15% laying production , though one can change to layer mash from 5% , I just always prefer 15% so the birds can mature better with feeding on either grower or prelayer mash
My sister am a farmer from Uganda but u can talk to more professional security camera installer b'se with this it can be solved by using motion sensor on your camera. in this case you will have to watch only those moments when the activity is taking inside the chicken house and all eggs should be left near the door daily report for 3 months and i used to tell them every thing that happened on the weekly basis now i no-longer employ that person but they think i still do the watching (though i still do it some times) but every thing is moving on smoothly. my only request is that plz do not complain, just do some more thinking, if u can raise the capital to do this them u can stop these thieves
Thank you very much for sharing your experience and advice, I'll definitely look into it .
Really painful. I was a victim of theft for eggs untill I caught them red handed. Since then I have installed CCTV and I am doing the work myself as of now. At least I have peace of mind.
God help us farmers from our wicked staff
Install solar cameras that have internet connections. Also, do weekly audit of the eggs as in be in the farm early and wait till end of that day to determine actual production
Thank you, I'll take that into consideration.
They even steal feed in some cases, but egg is gold. @ Durojaiye Okodu
Afternoon Modupe, So sorry to hear this. They are like that, no matter how much you take care of them, the greed in them will take over. Pay surprise visits to the farm and do on the spot check, it keeps them in check. Some of the stealing is done at night belive me. God will help us farmers.
Thank you for the advice God will help farmers
This is really serious, I'm about to travel and leave my small farm for like a month, and I've been nervous and worried about what will happen while I'm away
These guys are not nice people , just really heartless thieves ... all of them
How many birds in total do you have?
5,500 birds at the moment
Omo it sounds funny but it’s really not,I’ve said to myself even though it’s 3k birds I’ll do it myself
God is our strength
