PTSD Adventurer
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 22 ก.ย. 2013
I'm an Australian military veteran and former police officer. Diagnosed with complex PTSD I was medically discharged after 32 years service. As part of my PTSD therapy I've been told I need to get out and do more 'soothing' activities to restore the balance in my brain. I love Adventure Bike riding, kayak fishing, trail running, camping and making things - so this channel will largely feature those things. Along the way. I'll share some tips I have learned in my therapy for managing the extremes of PTSD and anxiety. I hope my journey helps you find some peace also.

I immerse myself in replacing the seat diaphram in my 1972 MGB. Australia is such a beautiful country.Im grateful its my home.
Also, interested to hear how the 4Motion is holding up. Love the VW's but some models are problematic.....
I did the Bylong Valley Way just the other day. What a spectacular drive. I've done it many times, it never gets old. Where on earth do you get those sunny's from ?!?!
I always enjoy the 'day in the life of' sort of videos. I enjoy the project videos too. Keep them coming. :)
How lucky are we to live in Australia?
Thanks Howie I totally agree! I'm back on the laptop today, finalising the editing on the last day of this road trip, and looking back over it makes me want to be back out there again.
Good job mate. Looks like peace and tranquillity. I was really feeling it.
Thanks Mark, you gotta try it, its just the ticket to managing the stress.
Great stuff. I'm loving this.
Thanks Doug, much appreciated.
I'm loving your road tripping style. You're doing what I would love to do. Grandparenting commitments though make it impossible. Thank you also for making your videos"warts and all". PTSD to those of us lucky enough not to be cursed with it is something we will never really understand. But your day to day experiences out there for all to see is a genuine eye opener. I hope your site receives the popularity it deserves. You portray PTSD as it is and how you deal with it. Thank you for that.
Thanks so much Doug, I really appreciate your kind words. I hope that my videos help other people understand that it's okay to not be okay, and to say so and reach out when they need help; and to take a bit of 'time out' for self care.
I love this video, I really felt the solitude and sense of freedom. What a great part of the world. I’m feeling inspired. Where’s the bloopers!
I promise there's one at the end of the next video Mark :-)
What you are doing would appeal to so many people, myself most certainly included. But you are not giving any directions that can be copied. This site has great potential if you can just show a map each day that can be followed.
This is awesome feedback, thanks @doug.horne2378 I've been offline this last two weeks, and have a couple of videos ready to go from this trip, but having seen this feedback, I have starting adding titles to road names and places in the video i am currently editing. I will see if I can locate a gpx file for these trips and load them here in the comments. Thanks mate.
Keep the vids coming, love the journey I’m assuming it not only helps you with ptsd but you buddies too Amazing what a fire can do for your mental health
Thanks heaps Kristian - you're absolutely right, it helps me and I'm hoping that even if it helps just one other person, then that's a good thing.
Really enjoyed this video mate. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to more.
Thanks so much mate, working on editing the next one now, but sometimes the mental block makes it hard - just need to work through that 😅
Wanting to support mate, so I've subscribed and I'm following along. Looking forward to watching your stories.
@@leonardolis8739 mate that is awesome, thank you 🙏🙏
That’s a great road trip. Spectacular countryside up in the range.
Thanks Matt 🙏
Great vid, and well done with the MG, she looks and sounds lovely. I hoped to attend the Wagga event, but ran out of time. I've owned a few MGBs in my time here and in UK, and in April this year acquired purely by chance an 1967 MGB GT, I originally bought in 1984, and sold four years later in 1988. Yes it is the very same car and it spent a good chunk of its life post me in Wagga, before ending up in Perth from 2017. It's now back in Sydney, having come full circle after 36 years - and its still in lovely original condition, testament to its four owners after me.
Thanks Mark, that is an awesome story! Mate I'll definitely be going back there, it was a great event. Hopefully see you there in 2025.
Hi mate hope youre doing well. We were neighbours at 4 peaks 😊 keep fighting the good fight. Take care
@@k2boxing732 ahhhhhh! Thanks mate 🙏 Hope you’re going well.

Thanks Howie. Day 2 coming shortly!
Very envious of your setup! Fantastic placement of the the emoji for the censored part, and I must add that I would have reacted completely differently to the outtake at the end…..
Thanks Matt, hope your journey is not being too harsh on you and your family.
The views are beautiful and scary at the same time. Glad you are finding adventurous activities to help with PTSD symptoms
