In my very younger days I welded on an articulating excavator that had 10’ dia tires approximately 150’ down in the mine in southern IN. It took me 7 hrs to get it braced good enough to bring it to the surface where I then gouged the crack in the boss where it articulated at and then overhead welded and put almost 100 #’s of 3/16” 11018 low hydrogen rod back in to finish the job which took (2) more 12 hr days. Underground work not for me, don’t know how the guys do it for a living!
