The 1978 Suzuki DR370
I wanted to do a video on my '78 DR370. First year for the DR and Suzuki's 4 stroke off road bike. Let me know what you think of if you ever had a DR and how you liked it.

1979 Suzuki RM400 out on a cold day

Monday February 8th at about 9am, I believe it was 18 degrees Fahrenheit.
Bought one new in 1978! Almost as good a wheelie bike as my 1985 Honda XR350! I've found another one of these and hope to have it in my garage soon!
Awesome RM400
Awesome!
👍👍
Thanks for sharing this video. I have a '78 SP370. Owned it for 30 years and I am exploring different carbs for it. I am running the original carb with a Vape ignition. It runs great when it wants to. The carb is just too dang finicky and will kick back when hot, just unpredictable..uhh. Cleaned and replaced just about every piece in it. My question is what kind of throttle are you using with your TM carb?.dang those things are expensive..but it sure seems to rip! Thanks!
I believe it is just a Motion Pro push-pull style throttle.
Love it! I have a DR370 project as well. In the early stages. Great information, Thanks!
I had a 1986 sp200 new. Uncle had one of these we picked up in the back yard of Kanawha river.. Arround 87. Had to lap the valves and clean the carburetor. The rear wheel had bearing and hub issues at we kinda fixed. No rear muffler so really loud! Hit the kill swich while riding and open the throttle. Then ON with the ignition and an earth shattering "Kaboom" Had to Show Local boy CHris Martin how to ride at Campbells Creek in high school on his KDX200 air head. Ended up taking both bikes up near the "Nose" at Witcher Creek. Good times and would love to ride with Chris again
Sounds strong!
The best fun bike fun times if only we could go back absolutely beautifull and reliable the 1970s were interesting motocross bikes so simple to work on we enjoyed very much these twin shocker air cooled bikes
The way this bike looks and sounds and how your started it. and let warm up gently are the true signs of Zen motorcycle care and rider, Tip if you will...Do empty the carb after riding it by closing the fuel valve and let it Idle or jus lean it to the ground., also have you change the Spark plug recently and cleaned the air filter? Thank you for sharing. Myself former MX racer from the 70's.
This bike has actually come along way. I have a lectron on in now making the whole process much easier. I'll be racing it next weekend.
@umiko3532 Wow! That new carb will make a big difference, almost like fuel injected. Good luck at the races! Thank you for the reply.
These machines are beasts. I still have mine. I put it up 35 years ago.I would just barely skim the ground on it in 3rd gear.
Its the forbidden evil. Its to be respected . Its not your average dirt bike
And rider🎉
I thought I recognized this bike ❤
Old school thumper 👍
They really need a water truck.
Nice looking RM 400 and thanks for taking us along for the winter ride ! 👍 That's something a lot of people overlook is short rides in cold weather as it's just different . Frozen ground and cold air make sound carry farther . I wonder if a shot of starting fluid would help on those cold mornings ?
A little carb clean in the plug hole if it's been sitting for quite some time. I always cycle the engine quite a bit to pull some of the mixture in. Usually doesn't need it though!
@@umiko3532 Good deal and I will try that as cold weather is headed our way . I ride a geared down 2004 Suzuki RM 250 and just bought a 1978 Suzuki PE 175 . Your video is helping me look forward to winter time . 😀
@@cranerigging3604 175 pe was my first off road bike. Pretty meh on the power side of things but light and easy to throw around.
AMEN and that's exactly why I went with the PE175 ! In my area we can buy a decal from the BMV and ride dirt bikes on county and back roads . And that's a PE 175's back yard .
@@umiko3532 that has low compression for sure. If piston is worn out it can be explode
The greatest machine made in 1979 it the RM 400 !
Had one...last ride was a concussion, dis located knee and a broken collar bone. Very sneaky power
Nice work putting this together. Very cool race action too!
This fucking song was from Motocross Madness on Playstation 1 💀💀
Motocross Mania actually, I have alot of nostalgia for that game.
Good thing the rain stayed away for most of it
I lost my silencer on the second lap on jump 10
Did you ever end up finding it? I was wondering.
Hey Bud, you made your SP400 12 volt video private, could you send me a link? I appreciate it! That video was helpful.
Beautiful man I own a 78 rm400 and a 78 yz400 that I’m rebuilding and man did that freakin rm rip. 80cc to a 400cc what a jump (ridden other big bikes but not mine )
Same but my starter bike is 49cc and when i just learned to drive i started to drive rm400
