    Why not remove the need for an external ground wire by soldering the internal ground wire to the one of the RCA cable grounds???

    Hello DJ Fix! What is your opinion on 3g tracking force? Do you think it is a little heavy and will wear your records over time? Can you run this cart at 2,5 possibly? Or shouldn't be worried about 3. I have this cart and I feel like it has some background noise. I could be tripping but I also have a AT-VM95ML which is around the same price and I feel like has better sound overall. I only use them for home listening. I also have the new Ortofon Concorde Music Blue but haven't used it much yet.

    Do you think the Clubmk2 that tracks at 3g will grind your vinyl and ruin it over time?

    I believe these are designed to alter the equalization to increase the 1khz-2khz range that's used in the timecode signal. Also, the frequency response only goes to 18khz. Wouldn't the DJ version of this cartridge be better for playing actual records since it doesn't alter the equalization and produces full range frequency response to 20khz?

    So, I hate to be the bearer of bad news.... But, why in the world would you let your tone arm go with the counter weight on and take the needle off?! You should have secured the tone arm down first. Your bearings are probably shot now in that assembly. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would never do that.

  • @thebourgyman
    @thebourgyman 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thank you so much for the video! I have an SL-1200mk2 that had what seemed a broken tonearm, as it could barely play records without skipping (it would constantly spring back to rest position whatever I would do in terms of calibrating/anti-skating). Checking the bearings is something that never came to mind as I assumed they were broken/missing. Turns out they were intact, and that the arm was simply loose/misadjusted! After recalibrating everything, the SL-1200 works like new. You saved me a new tonearm!

    This was really helpful. I have to package up a turntable and was getting confused looking at all sorts of fancy foams etc...but will go with a good amount of wide bubbled bubble wrap instead. I imagine a good rule of thumb is to use as much as you think you need then double it! Just need to source a suitable box now.

    One thing to point out the ground wire should wrap around for a reason and I've seen it many time if it get ripped out or pulled on pre say I've seen it take all the tone arm wires with it even with a zip tie

    Hey, thanks for this video. I was wondering about this as my tonearm does not seem overly stable ... and was confirmed recently to have issues w/ the bearings. While it's not quite as bad as the one in your video, the pivot/pin (whatever it's called) is definitely a bit wobbly and I don't think passes the test you performed. So... what to do? If it's not repairable, what are the best options?

    For the second turntable, I have a 1200 with similar issue, bearing is dented, and if you swing the tonearm it snaps into the middle with quite a bit of force. The fix is rip the bearing out, use a reamer to ream that hole to exactly 5mm, taking care not to go too deep. Then press in a MR52ZZ bearing in its place. This will save the tonearm, and it will function correctly. MR52ZZ bearing costs about 20 cents each, and the reamer is going to vary depending on where you get it. But DO NOT use a drill bit. Use a reamer. You can make quite a bit of money doing this fix to turntables with this issue because the bearing it comes with is very nonstandard, and is made of some really soft material that is easily dented. MR52ZZ bearings, even the cheapest Chinese ones, are made of hardened steel and ground to a very tight tolerance. They will likely last far longer than the turntable.

    Hi I think a review of those jico 477 (shure replacement m44-7) would be a great video aswell as the ortofon scratch mk2 concordes. Unfortunately I'm limited to spherical needles as I have straight tone arm vestax pdx d3s mk2 and I'm torn between the 2 mentioned and the ortofon digital mk22 that youve already reviewed 😊

      Hi, I had a similar issue. I put my turntable on its side with the tonearm at the top end. You can't get at it with a screwdriver so I used a phillips bit to finger tighten the small screw. Not ideal but it fixed my problem.
