As of right now, the line east of the Vermilion connector sees four trains a day, three EBs (28B, 264 and 316) and one WB (315).

Nothing better than railfanning the NKP

I can guarantee you this train wasn’t “creeping” the train was actually going track speed. Usually it’s a bit faster but it was big train.

I will definitely try to get it recorded. That crossing is located on a private road as it’s also on the more sketchy side of town so it may be hard but I’ll sure try. Feel free to request another crossing in the area that I haven’t recorded yet just in case I’m not able to.

That’s my guess as well. That’s what I’ve been finding with most crossings like this.

Radio confirmed M558. I thought the same thing at first when I heard it, as M558 had already run around morning hours.

Thx!! Pretty often. It’s common to see on manifest trains EB and WB. The trains that are usually DP’d are 10Q, 11Q, 11K and 12N

I think it may just have to do with the location. Oak Harbor has really good scanner reception for both lines. I also use two scanners as they both pick up just about everything. I’ve had the same issue in the past at other spots.

@@RailfanNS ok, everywhere I go on any NS line, I have this issue, CSX is more clearer and NS is less clearer. It also is very annoying NS says the symbol first so it is easier to miss it when they call signals out

That was at Vermilion Rd in Vermilion. The district underpasses that road while the Chicago Line crosses it.

I’ve recently been out on the Cleveland District and Olmsted Falls on the Chicago Line. I haven’t had a whole lot of time to railfan since I’ve been so busy with work and school

Awesome videos! Got out to railfan at Berea yesterday. What a spot to watch the action at. I saw 21 trains between 1:45 pm and 6:30 pm

I use a Uniden Bearcat SR30C and a Quanshang UV-K5

@@RailfanNSwhy is it so clear? Mine tends to glitch out multiple times when a NS frequency plays

@@northwestohiorailproductions it may have to do with the type of antenna your using. I use a wide band antenna on the Bearcat

That’s the exact same antenna I use. It may just do with the location you were at. I have had that happen to me before due the area not having the greatest radio reception.

It’s basically been the same for a while from what I’ve heard too…

Oak Harbor, Port Clinton, Sandusky Huron, Vermilion, etc… the usual spots I like.

They are incandescent. I’ve been to this location many times and seen this signal drop etc

@RailfanNS I’ve never seen a train there. I’ve heard 28B and 29P are running that way more now?

28B way more often than 29P. 28B runs the line on occasion and 29P runs it every once in a blue moon. The only intermodal that’s a guarantee on the district is 264 which unfortunately is almost always a night run for the district.

⁠I’ve primarily stuck around my area because I’ve been so busy with work and college so not really that much this year. I did however just get a new a camcorder and would love to go to some certain spots with it. Oak Harbor is by far one of my favorite spots to railfan as it has two mainlines and it’s only about an hour drive from my house.

Their pretty faded nowadays. Not very appealing to the naked eye
