My seconded biggest compost pile after combining the other two. Still breaking down but finally getting enough water with all this rain. We'll see if it effects it too negatively but there's still dry bits where it's heating up.

#asmr #satisfying #compost #gardening #garden #farming Turned after it's been raining and it's finally enough I don't have to water it. Now I need to figure out how to not let the rain wash out my extra as I finish compost. For now I'll add what's close to finished on my gardens as mulch.

Next time I'll get the rest and hopefully it cooks a bit hotter. Some seeds in the other pile are starting to sprout. I think the extra mass will help though.

I want the blackberry vines more gone but they're only a few stubborn green ones left. I might just put them together anyway and turn that a couple more times until I decide to let it mature. Either way it's nice to see the progress as it breaks down.

Even without the heat they seem to keep decomposing. At least they're not stabbing me like the big pile still is. Moisture seems good so I added only a bit of water.
1st, 2nd and 3rd compost piles I started together and curing.

It's not done but close enough I'll just flip it like every week to check moisture. We'll see if it got hot enough to kill the seeds but it can't be any worse then the tumbler. I don't mind though because I get volunteers mixed in too.

It could be just because I waited 3-4 days on a couple turn so it's 1 behind the smaller one. I think it's a combination from carbon heavy material with lack of water it needed. I figure it will hold water better as it breaks down and it is. The blackberry vines are not far off fro...

It's so much quicker & satisfying.
The other part I like is how easy it is to rake up. I've never had this much material for compost before. I don't think a lawnmower with a bag would catch all this grass.

I turn them every 2-3 days ideally. After that they start cooling off.

It's funny, I saw the black plastic bag in the video but not when I was cutting. I got the bag out a few days later but may have never seen it otherwise. At least until I turned the compost.

Thank you, it's a quite a bit of work to start but gets better all the time. The main goal for me is not to buy much of anything and reuse as much as possible. Helps living in rainy mild Washington, I never have to water. You should post more of what you do by the way. You do great work for our community.
