Day 11 - Solo Motorcycle Trip Norway from North Cape back to Trondheim, on BMW F650GS Dakar

Today I am coming home, and I am ready for it. The final part of the Fv 17 offered some very nice riding. The scenery calms down and becomes more like home. I should have done some more filming but my mind was already in the couch at home.. (sorry about the dirt on the GoPro, didn't notice)
Day 10 - Solo Motorcycle Trip Norway from North Cape back to Trondheim, on BMW F650GS Dakar

This day I travel down the Fv 17 to Vega. The morning is was accompanied by the trip's first and only real rain. There were a lot of ferries to catch, which didn't allow for too much stopping along the way. I find the best camping spot on the whole trip!
Day 9 - Solo Motorcycle Trip Norway from North Cape back to Trondheim, on BMW F650GS Dakar

A short riding day today after a morning hike with my friend. I travel down the rest of Lofoten to Moskenes to catch the ferry to Bodø. After a few hours I set up camp, but have to escape the rising tide and end up breaking a tent pole.

Today I travel over 700 km to Lofoten so I can have some beers with a friend in the evening instead of meeting tomorrow over coffee. Beautiful views everywhere in this part of Norway!

Today I make it to the North Cape in the morning! Sunshine everywhere, except at the North Cape.. Afterwards, it was time to start the journey back! I visited a few friends on the way back as well, off camera. Found a nice place to spend the night not too far from Alta.
Day 6 - Solo Motorcycle Trip TET Sweden to North Cape on BMW F650GS Dakar

On this day a get really close to North Cape! I enter Norway early in the day, and there are many km's on tarmac. But there is some epic riding as well, with an interesting watercrossing (my first real one) and especially the Gargia road over the mountain! It was very good to see them again!
Hey man - wonderful Bike I got myself an 06 version 2 months ago and im still looking for a motorguard like yours there. Would you tell me the Name and retailer of it- greetings from germany ;)
It really is a good bike! The skid plate and engine guards are from SW Motech :)
Norway is on my to do list ! What kind of tent do you use in winter ? Nice video with some good music too. You can count me as a new subscriber ! Cheers from Canada !
Thanks man! I have a simple mountain tunnel tent, which has served me well so far. But I have stayed relatively close to tourist cabins or shelters, if I would go more remote I might consider a more storm proof winter dedicated tent. You should definitely come to Norway, summer or winter 😁
@@theskiingdutchmanadv I have also a tunnel tent, the Nammatj 2 from Hilleberg, very nice one man tent for rough weather conditons.
@@TheCanadianXplorer I have an old Fjellreven Skule Shape R/S 2 , has served me well so far :)
Take “the road less traveled.”
Always more fun :)
Love this. I have a 01 BMW F 650 Dakar. I’ve owned lots of bigger bikes, but this is the only bike this 70 yr old man needs now. 👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️
Thanks man! It sure is a nice bike, especially if you don't need to go very fast ;)
Well, been very fast. And not too long ago. Now all I need is endurance.
@@mechcavandy986 as long as you enjoy the ride!
Nice video. I hit sand on a down hill on Gold Camp Road on Colorado. Also had the bike fall over too. Only broke the saddle bag hook. All is well. Love riding my 2003 Dakar around.
It is a very nice bike, but sand is still hard! :)
Nice video, did you switch off your Abs breaks, I couldn't see flashing light on your dash? That could be the reason for the fall. Awesome country side. Regards Mark from South Africa.
Thanks man, appreciate the nice comment :) ! No I didn't turn abs off, but I don't think I used the brakes there. I guess I just tried to turn too tight and lost traction :)
Nice trip mate! We own the same bike , i really like how you handle it !! Cheers from Greece ! 🤘
true
Thanks for the kind words! I guess it looks better on TH-cam ;) I really like the bike though!
@The Skiing Dutchman Haha it looks perfect ! It is an excellent bike capable to do almost everything 💪

hi, can you make a video talking about your bike mods and show them? im trying to make mine a bit more off Road machine but i dont known how
Hi, not sure if I will make a video but I can tell you what I have on the bike to help it off road. I have Touratech footpegs for comfortable standing, high seat and high windscreen ( screen is not better for off-road but nice for touring) from the previous owner. I added sw-motech engine guards and bash plate for protection. I would like to add some handguards in the future to protect the levers, but I've dropped it a couple of times without problem. And off course you need some good tires :) Some people upgrade the suspension but it is expensive so I don't think I will do that. I am no pro at off road so I am happy with the OEM suspension
Mooie motor. Wil er ook zo een kopen.
A great trip, nice video. Could you please tell me which windscreen are you using? I can't find anything like that for my Dakar.
The previous owner installed that, I'm not sure of the brand. It is very similar to this one : www.rs-motorcyclesolutions.de/en/windshield-f650-gs-dakar-2004-2007.html
A nice trip skiing Dutchman. What is the type/model of this windscreen?
Hey, very nice places und great bike. I have the same and I want to fit the same exhaust as you have. Can you please tell me which one it's? Thank you an drive safe man.
Thanks! The previous owner installed it so I'm not really sure. I think it is the stainless steel GPR slip-on as it is very similar but it doesn't have the decals. Ride safe you too!
@@theskiingdutchmanadv Do you think it's the noise to loud? Thank you for your answer🏍️
@@vasiltasoulas8297 no I don't think so, but I've never heard the original ;)
Most asphalt riders misundersood that picking up the bike on hard surfaces is not the same with picking it up on a gravel or sand
Inspiring video! What kind of exhaust is on your BMW?
Thanks! It is a gpr exhaust I think, put on by the previous owner :)
Your Dakar sounds really nice, what exaust did u set on? Gegards
Thanks! It is a GPR exhaust I believe, put on by the previous owner :)
Im the #1 fan
nice video
Wow. Cool ferry! I think I'll watch all your videos as a Netflix series on the weekend ) Thanks a lot for them ) I have the same Dakar BTW but have no time (actually I'm not so brave as you) for such a trip )
I love that you like them so much :) I hope they stay interesting ;) I am not so good at off road either, but I say you should just try it. Make sure you have good protection for you and the bike, so you can handle a fall at low speed. Our bike is really good for this. I would say find some nice roads close to your home and go on day trips first :)
Lucky you are ) you have all this experience
Thanks, I feel very lucky :)
Very good videos, keep them comming. How do you find the bike so far?
Thanks! I really like the bike so far, the high seat makes it comfortable for whole day riding. Great engine with almost no vibrations for a single cylinder. Not a lot of power but more than enough for me :)
@@theskiingdutchmanadv can I ask what seat you have? The stock seat I have is not the most confortable on longer rides
You should compile all the most entertaining events from your trip and voice over what happened. big fan (first)
Great idea!
Another Classic.
Just wondering which battery type do you have/use in your Dakar?
I have an AGM in there I believe :)
Shitloads with mosquitoes. Pack with you a thermacell, best buy Ive ever done. It takes up space, but its keeps the bugs away in camp.
I actually bought one of those after this day, didn't think it would work but it did! Saved the trip 😊
@@theskiingdutchmanadv Yeah, I noticed you had gotten one in the next video. Its an amazing device. 😊
Nice video! Its easy to get off the route, did that my self a couple of times last week, getting too eager when riding to forget to check the map. The sand sections looked hard. Good job
Thanks! I was happy I turned around, the video doesn't show how sketchy it was. I would have been stuck for hours. This turned out to be a technical but one of the most fun days!
@@theskiingdutchmanadv Hard days like that can be really fun. Not so fun, when you are standing in it, but to think back to. ;)
