Recorded at the Anvil, Basingstoke on 3rd July 2022. Ex members of Hampshire County Youth Orchestra playing in the 50th Anniversary concert. Conducted by Edgar Holmes, the musical director of HCYO between 1971 and 1996. Interestingly, this is the guy that auditioned me to join the orchestra in 1973. I failed, hence I'm recording the concert rather than playing in it. I eventually got grade 8 vi...

Aren't you supposed to install steel supports on a solid engineering brick padstone?...... Of course you are. More cowboys
Looks expensive. How much?
Wonder what the chances of any of them men getting silicosis are .??? Working with all that brick dust all day and not at least one dust mask between them. Also knocking down buildings and not one hard hat???.
Good welder could have plated and bolted would have saved a fortune.
Je zeg je....watte ...doof😂
2 singles is better than a double
First class job. Really well-done.
That tape measure is getting a work out.
How much does a job like that cost?
It was about £5000 (UK)
@@timbishop4063Not at all. £3k max.
This is what exactly i was looking for i will be doing this very shortly to my new purchase house i almost didn't buy it cause i didn't think it was possible cause ive never seen it done but now im extremely happy and love the results
Same, I have two small doors currently and would like create one large opening.
Exactly! VW California
Why? What advantage to move to a single door were the vehicles to wide for the standard door?
Obviously not in this case. I think it's just easier to build a wide garage with a central support.
The original doors are cheap up and over type where the replacement double door is a sectional door which is much higher quality, insulated and allows more space behind the door.
2 single door garages bigger than 1 double door garages. am i wrong ?
what was the height difference of the 2 i-beams
UK
Where was this now eh?
Are the walls in this garage one brick or two
One
How much does this cost to do as a rough guide?
About £5000. It would be a lot cheaper for a roll up door rather than a sectional door like mine. A sectional door will hugely outlast a roll-up.
Nice work. It amazes me how many ppl get so accustomed to not wearing any gloves and more importantly safety glasses. Mind boggling how little regard people have for their eyes in particular. One wrong move or spark, etc and blind forever.
Why was this NOT built like the after result in the first place?!?!? The resulting double sectional door makes the space USEFUL. I can't figure why people don't build things right the first time! No matter, you got what you need done. I love this video. I was just wanting to see how this gets done.
Show us how to do it right then.
All that dust and noise and no Eye, Ear or breathing protection.
Good God! The lack of PPE utilization by this crew, in this day and age, is unconscionable and inexcusable.
I'm glad you got that off your chest. Lighten up, try to enjoy your own life and stop critising others! Haven't you noticed how many boring people have already commented on this subject.
@@timbishop4063yes but theres still so many new descriptive words left to use😁
How much did you charge for this project? Probably more than the garage itself 🤣
new trim has no nail heads to rust over time :-)
How in the hell do you pick that color green garage door 🤮
Anyone else see a 2 man job site with 4 men on it? 🤔
How much to convert?
5K. A roller door would be much cheaper than this sectional door.
Great team work. It’s nice to see workmen clearing up after themselves. Good job lads. Top marks 👍🏾
Watch the video. Looked a neat job.. only problem. I have with it. Is the lack of ppe...you can't see the damage. They have recieved from the dust in their lungs. And it will come back to get them eventually...
I feel like this is an obvious question but didn't see it answered in the comments. How do you know it was structurally safe to remove that brick pillar in the middle?
The brick pillar was supporting the ends of the original 2 light weight beams - one for each gap - you saw them being removed. A survey calculated how heavy duty the single beam needed to be - it looks pretty strong to me though I wasn't involved in the calculation. One pessimistic commentator suggests it will all collapse - I promise to upload a new video if he proves to be right. Anyway, my glass is half full!

@Fedup10710 0 seconds ago My Dad did this type of hard and dirty work day in and day out for over 70 years in the garage door business. Dust, asbestos, fiberglass , whatever chemicals. No safety glasses, no face coverings, non insulated power tools. Mud, snow standing across the top steps of a 14 foot A-frame ladder. Retired at 91 because he tore ligaments in his right ankle getting it caught under the ottoman at home. 94 years old and still healthy as someone half his age, just has to walk with cane now. Parents married 72 going on 73 years.
I really appreciate the positive comments like yours - unfortunately my video has attracted a multitude of armchair HSE officers with nothing better to do than trawl through TH-cam looking for things to complain about - it's actually quite amusing :)
And no garage at all when the roof collapses !
In 7 Minuten? Oder dauert das Video 7 Minuten 😅?
Welding would have been the smarter and cheaper idea. And of course not wearing masks with all of that dust just goes to show that Darwin is still spot on.
I made the uninformed mistake only once with the dinky pair of garage doors. My detached 28x30 garage has an 18' door on each end.
The wind was blowing.😊
That’ll be 50 grand mate. Chi-ching!
Man goes to his doctor and asks for an examination for a health insurance policy. The doctor checks him out and says: "Well apart from a crushed toe, vibration white finger, that glass eye and emphysema you're fine, did you by any chance work on replacing garage doors back in 2023?" The man says: "What?" Doctor: "Oh, and you need a hearing aid."

@@Fedup10710 Pleased to hear that and long may he continue to enjoy good health but, I would suggest, the exception rather than the general rule?
He and the people he worked with were the rule. Knew at least ten men like him. My dad has lived longer because he never drank alcohol and smoked tobacco.
Sur deux points d appui en brique ,le DTU exige 70 cm de repos ,sauf s il y a un poteau béton de chaque côté ,surtout vu la portée de l IPE.
Mask gloves, defenders wet cutter should be used all the time doesn’t matter where you are
Yes...I do want a two car garage.
Have never seen such fast workers! Incredible!
All your profit went on silicone and trim!😂😂😂😂
Very neat, just one thing a few safety glasses would be on my list as I was up the hospital a few times until the penny dropped and the guy at the clinic had a bit of a word abt my eyes.
Great job guys
Good seeing a team keeping the work area clean & tidy as they progress.
Bravo 😊
