I took my R2 out on its first public appearance. It was a great time. I had a few things break but nothing catastrophic.
First test of the COM-8 CSR horizontal drawer. This is one of 4.

Took about 4 iterations of the drawer but I think this is the one I'm going forward with. I had to add 4x the magnets to have a good connection but this feels right. The magnets were one of the biggest things I wanted to test out.

I built AR2D2 out of lego.
I've had many builders inspiring me from Mike Senna, Maxstang, Ziz, Curious Marc along my 7 years building my own R2D2, but I have to admit, now i'm onto the electronic, I'm a huge fan! Thanks for taking the time to share all this informations :)

@@greghulette I'm just now in the process of hinging body and dome panels. Challenging project!
@@ScottSmithPhotos Yeah, they are definitely not easy to do. There's a lot of tweaking to make sure they close just right. I still have some that don't close perfectly. But that's one of the beauties of building and R2. They don't have to be perfect since the R2 is always dirty and beat up in the movies.

good prof this is now these days a Robot before it was a costume until technology's up and running and taking over better example of R2-D2 robots and what I meant

Hey I’m working on a project something like this too!! Are u good with servo or dc motor??
Im not the OP but I'd use a DC motor for this simple task. There's really no need for the added weight, cost or complexity of programing that a servo motor comes with. You'r just lifting a panel so keep it simple and save the servos for the wheels where you may actually need fine controls and tight timings.

Did you plug the Stealth system with your Lights? I can't figure out how to connect them to my Teeces and FlthyHP's
Yeah, I plugged the Flthy HP's onto the I2C bus that the Dome Servo Expander board is on. I also connected the serial Rx and Tx from the Teeces into my Stealth Servo Expander board in the dome. The Visio diagram in my Dropbox shows the physical connections. I also have the Arduino code for the servo expander board that controls the HPs and Teeces in there as well. Feel free to look around the Dropbox folder. The link to the Dropbox is in my signature block on the forum.
