Best Black Lines of Lost Dog Trail, El Paso, Texas
This video is designed to show the very best black lines of the Lost Dog Trail system in El Paso, Texas. The Lost Dog Trail offers some the most challenging and rewarding climbs you can find in El Paso. The terrain in this area is very unique and will make you pay the price the second you get complacent. The trails have a combination of rock gardens, compacted dirt and loose gravel that can change from one day to the next. There's no better feeling than conquering some of these very steep, technical climbs and descends.

Lower Sunset Trail at the Franklin State Mountains, shot with GoPro Hero 4 and Parrot Beebop Drone. Video edited with GoPro Studio. Started trail at the lower parking area and made our way up to northside of the park. Trail taken through Shortcut #1 then Lower Sunset back to starting point at the lower parking.
I know from first hand experience how tough these climbs are. It's incredible how easily you guys clean them!
Well produced video! Great job. Do you have have a set riding schedule for the week of Dec 26th? I will be in town and I have never ridden ELP before.
We typically ride at night on Tuesdays and Thursdays and about 10 am on Saturdays and/ or Sundays. Let me know when you're available that week and we can show you around.
Gnarly. Plenty of variety. Fine editing. Never became tedious. Super views of the landscape.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully it motivates you too bit the trails! 😀
Fregon video
Looks fun but advanced
This trail isn't too bad, but no matter how you exit, it's a tough climb out! 😬
Fun to watch. Love Franklin Mountains trails.
Wow, you guys have skills.! Can I ride with you?
Yes, sure send your number
Awesome video. I felt every climb.
Thank you... so did we! 😀
lol, yup!
Was the music locally produced ? Or did y'all have to reach out to the artist for copy right permissions?
I don't remember where I downloaded it from, but it was free. Just needed to list credit to the author of the song.
I wonder how safe such a place would be now with the Cartel and human trafficing going on along the border.
These trails are frequented by numerous people at all hours of the day on a daily basis. Lost dog trail is in the mountains away from the border. El Paso is a very safe city and Cartel and human trafficing is unheard of in the city.
Awesome video! You guys are animals! I’m not ready for Lost Dog Trail yet. 😆 I’ll stick with the Lazy Cow for now.
Thank you bro, that's after years of riding. 😀
Best El Paso TX MTB video I've seen. Great job guys, see you on the trail.
Thanks bro, appreciate the complement.
Thanks for the complement.
Tsup bro, eat wud u recommend, a fezzari or giant?
Either one, both good bikes.
Bravo, well done! Love riding lost dog, and there's some trails you've shown that I don't think I've ever ridden. Looking forward to my next trip out to EP from here in Austin.
Thank you Neil, I'm glad you enjoyed the video and more importantly get to know some of the nice but tough tracks Lost Dog Trail has to offer. Take care!

Nice edit and solid skills on the climbs.... However, respect requires responsibility of reputation.... The ROUGHRIDER title has a 22 yr reputation spanning all of Texas, New Mexico, Mexico, Colorado and beyond... I would like to formally invite you to join the reknown ROUGHRIDER clan in order to be worthy of that title, which I already see those qualities in your awesome video (far superior edit than any of mine, much kudos there)..... ROUGHRIDER CANYON FREERIDE PARK has been the icon of Gnarnia in all the southwest and beyond since 2002, but our 22 yr old roots also started on the LOST DOG lines (aka REDD trails then), UTEP Cyco-therapy, and Monks Mayhem.... Roughrider Canyon Park took the gnar of those trails and quadrupled the gnar factor... the ALTAR is equivalent to our Level 1 of 5 scale.... this is not NOT a notice to initiate a rivalry, but to bridge like-minded riders that value all of the Borderland terrain while also sustaining the credibility of the name ROUGHRIDER that is notorious for striking fear & respect to all riders that have heard of that title. 100s of riders have earned that title with bruised egos, blood, and broken bones across North America and I believe y'all could be worthy of that title with a suitable "ride of passage" at ROUGHRIDER CANYON that meets the criteria. I would be much obliged to include any of you in order to expand the ROUGHRIDER mentality to anyone willing and able. We have so much to offer for anyone's progression far above and beyond what's available in the Franklin's. I'm 49 yrs old and still shredding big lines and gaps and mentoring rider development across El Paso County almost every week. Here's a link for a comparison (much lower quality edit) of how a veteran ROUGHRIDER of 22 yrs shreds the ALTAR with an ensuing protege...th-cam.com/video/aw3CCHYVPdI/w-d-xo.html let's take a stroll thru Gnarnia together and spread the ROUGHRIDER mentality soon.... I can be contacted directly at 925-395-7693, robrohrbaugh@gmail.com or our facebook group ROUGHRIDER FREERIDE ... ride it ROUGH or it will ride you!!!
Thanks for the kudos Rob, hope to ride with you all soon to learn and shred with the best. Take care and stay safe!
Hey dude, I like your video creation. Super awesome 😎
Thanks Mel!
Sweet vid. I’m hoping to hit more of these trails soon! 😎🤟
Thanks Chenzo, let me know if you need a guide, we can show you the way.
Wassuuuup Chenzo
@@spoopyie843 hey! What’s up homie 🤘
th-cam.com/video/fDB3ep_oTvQ/w-d-xo.html Better video of Lost Dog Trail.. with actual pro riders in El Paso.. no offense..
No offense taken. Nice video, i like the combination of drone & camera footage. It looks like i need to change the title of my video. Great job!
Hey Eliezer Aponte, check out our new video! th-cam.com/video/yhAhBQO7DfY/w-d-xo.html
very cool video bro.
Cool video.
I love mountain biking in Big Bend
The climbs are rewarding, while the descents can get dicey
looks like fun for sure!!!
Very nice video. I have been riding these trails since 1999 and this video captures the feel of some of the best parts. Good mix of point of view, fixed cameras and drone footage. Nice and short too! :)
lessdeth69 thanks for the kind words, I've been riding these trails since 2013 so you probably know these trails like the back of your hand. Safe riding and thanks again!
I know most of the trails pretty well but I did take a break of about 5 years and have only just started riding consistently in the last couple of months. The construction has changes access to some sections. Also, where are the jumps starting at minute 1:48? I actually have not seen those y se ven divertido!
lessdeth69 that's a good observation, that footage came from an area from the far east side of town east of Horizon called Rough Rider Canyon. I forgot I had put those clips in this video, I should probably need to update this post.
Ah, yes. I visited the Wind Turbines out there on a few occasions and remember seeing some nice jumps in the area. I believe some have been put in at Arroyo Park as well.
That.....was an awesome video!
At 2:23...OUCH!...Nice video!
Thanks, the crash was more painful than it looked!
Thanks for the reply. I've been hiking that same trail for some time now, but now I have bought a mountain bike and hope to try this trail out very soon!
Enjoy and take care on the trails!
