A quick look at my exhaust and the routing it takes.

I had a viewer ask about how I routed my exhaust and this is my video showing how it goes, what I would change, and things I am going to do.

Finishing Up Welding Some Rust Holes In My Floor Pans. 1964 Ford Galaxie Restoration Part 3

Raw V8 Sound! Straight Pipe 289 With 2.5 Inch Exhaust On My 64 Ford Galaxie

The video doesn't do it a justice to how it sounds in person, but it does a fairly decent job on showing what is sounds like in idle. I will get mufflers on sometime, but for right now it is just straight Piped.
Checking out the family Ford Galaxies!

1964 Galaxie restoration

This is the first time this car has driven in over 30 years! I have worked on this for a couple of months after it sat, and had rats destroy the entire inside of the car. I am only driving using the parking brake because it had messed up break lines.

    The exhaust looks good... thats where it was originally routed. Why don't you just leave it straight pipes? I had a F-150 with dual straight pipes.... it sounded great. When they rusted out, I had it replaced with duals with flow-masters. It was lower tone making it sound louder with the flow-masters, the when it had straight pipes.

    • @carsairplanes2096
      @carsairplanes2096 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do like the sound of the straight pipes. I just think it is a little too loud. I like my dads car, it has 18 inch glasspacks and it has kind of a quieter running sound, and the sound doesn't change too much. But it still barks and roars when you hit the gas. I would like my car to have that.

    Looking good..... I painted the floors on my Galaxie with black Rust-oleum. I have restored many cars, finding Rust-oleum as good or better than a lot of the high dollar stuff. Taking the dash apart is the only way to make them gleam.....

    Don't forget to insulate the floor and roof..you'll be glad you did..the Galaxie's were great cars..are you going to paint it back the origonal color ? See you on the next one..Cheers 🍺🍺🍺🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    • @carsairplanes2096
      @carsairplanes2096 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not going the original color on the interior, I couldn't find it. And I am trying to go kind of cheap. I am a poor high school student and I don't really have the money or means to do everything perfectly. I know that it will work good with just a black paint though. I will insulate them, but not for a while. I am going to leave it bare metal, and just get it up to street worthy before I leave in a couple of months. I know some people won't like that it isnt original, but I am doing this car to how I want it, and I am not worried about having it exactly original.

  • @OldCarAlley
    @OldCarAlley 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your car is super solid. A 58 year old car is expected to have some rust..... here in Michigan the floors would be history. I like the maroon color, I assume someone repainted it at one time a different color. Are you going to paint it, or leave it alone as it sits? If you paint it, what color?

    • @carsairplanes2096
      @carsairplanes2096 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The whole car was originally that color. I know that I am not going to have it original, so I am just painting the interior to help with rust and smell. There is still a hint of rat smell in the car. I am just going to pain the interior black for now. Someone painted it green. It was originally maroon. I think someday I am going to paint my car blue, but that is expensive and that is one of my last worries on the restoration project. I know some people won't like that I am not keeping it original, but I am doing the car to how I want it, and not necessarily original.

    • @OldCarAlley
      @OldCarAlley 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carsairplanes2096 It's your car, so you should do it 100% the way you like it and never mind what others want to see. I used a low gloss black rust-oleum brush paint on the floorpans on my Galaxie, though I did spray the trunk with it's correct spatter paint. Spatter paint is pours, so a good paint job under it will make it last longer.

    • @carsairplanes2096
      @carsairplanes2096 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OldCarAlley I am gonna use a rust oleum low gloss spray paint. But the thing that is really gonna help with rust is the Epoxy Primer that I am going to use before the paint. I may want to paint the inside a different color later, but for now, I think the black will be just fine. It will just be easier if I do it when the dash is out.

    • @OldCarAlley
      @OldCarAlley 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carsairplanes2096 Yes, the dash out is the only way to go. Use a metal etching primer on any bare metal first. All the interior stuff will be covered with carpet, door panels and whatnot to hide it, so color docent really matter. Protecting it does..... that's why I just foam brush painted the floor pan in my Galaxie.

    • @carsairplanes2096
      @carsairplanes2096 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OldCarAlley I did some research and I will be painting over quite a bit of the old paint, and the etching primer doesn't do as well when it is on top of paint. I think I will just use the epoxy primer I have, and hopefully that works good.

    I'm partial to the '65's. I have a convertible '65 Galaxie 500 convertible with just under 100,000 total original miles on it. The 390 c.i. 4 bbl engine is stock and has never had nor needed an overhaul. Still runs smooth and fast. I also have a '65 Galaxie 500 2 door hardtop I got as a parts car. No. It was actually originally purple! If you look in the interior, that is the original color. Then they painted it green. It was a cheap paint job that got sunbaked and weathered. I am 90% sure that the red showing through on it is the primer they used for the second paint job. Awesome, I love the 65 LTD, but I may be a bit bias.
