Billy Wilder didn't like the last line of the movie and he planned to write something he thought would be better to replace it. Fortunately for us, he was too busy and didn't get around to doing that. If youu don't like movies where people manipulate and lie themselves into a corner or a misunderstanding then don't watch comedies made before the 1970s. The majority of romantic comedies before then revolved in some way around the battle of the sexes. That doesn't excuse it. It's just the way it was.

You don't get this movie at all. Yes, Lorelei wants to marry a rich man. She was raised to believe that that is how you secure your future. But she's not going to marry someone she doesn't love. She does love Gus. And Gus loves her. She does flirt with Piggy, but she never cheats on gus. She really feels that she is helping Dorothy by trying to find Dorothy a rich man. Dorothy sticks with Lorelei because Lorelei is her friend. Friends don't always see eye to eye, but they're loyal to each other. The detective starts out a little smarmy, but when he realizes that the future father-in-law has nothing to worry about in Lorelei, he has a change of heart. You cut practically all the musical numbers. I know there are copyright considerations, but you didn't even include snippets of some of them. "Isn't Anyone Here for Love" is a great number. It was an accident when she gets knocked in the pool at the end, but she comes up and finishes the take. No one has to like any particular movie, but you came out hating it right from the beginning without trying to understand what it was saying. It’s a product of its time- and I like the fact that Lorelei points out the obvious at the end- show me a straight man that doesn’t try to manipulate a beautiful woman. At least she’s honest about it. And Dorothy is honest about being a horn dog and doesn’t care about money, but she’s a loyal friend. Poor Marilyn hated how she got typecast in roles like this.

I mean, you can say she's manipulative but her character never lied about her motives and if men found her so attractive they chose to ignore what she was telling them then that's on them lol. I love this movie - I think it's so funny, and as much as I am too much of a romantic to date an ugly, rich man, I would say she's a good lead to follow if you do want money over love.

Sidney Poitier was in 3 great movies around that time. "To Sir with Love', Guess who is coming to dinner, and the best one I think "In the Heat of Night", both Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger are great in that movie. You should react to that at some point, it is great.

OH MY GOD THIS IS SUCH BAD REACTION VIDEO TO SUCH A GOOD FILM (Spike has made many masterpieces Jungle Fever is not a masterpiece but a great film). the two dudes just don't appreciate what they've seen! For me it was torture to watch the two of them sitting there bored and talking shit! You immediately notice that the two have no idea about film history and no respect for it at all! The film has incredibly strong dialogue (especially the scene with the women in the living room, superb!!) but neither of them appreciate anything, it's crazy!

If y’all have not seen the Criterion Collection releases, (Bluray & 4k,) y’all absolutely must. The restoration is BEAUTIFUL. Also, if y’all have not seen Carnival Of Souls (1962,) it is another low-budget indie classic of the era that also got Criterion restoration and rereleases. And although it’s not a Horror film, the film noir, Detour (1945,) also got similar treatment-A film presumed to be unrestorable because there was not enough source material, also turned out great, (potentially as nihilistic as this film as well.) The Proto-Modern zombie film really is The Last Man On Earth (1964,) the first, (and my favorite,) I Am Legend adaptation, starring Vincent Price. George A. Romero & Co., admitted they pulled a lot from that film and the original book in order to make this film. While The Last Man On Earth still isn’t sure what its “ghouls” really are, Night Of The Living Dead finishes the mold for the modern zombie. Now, if you want to go back to the original zombies, White Zombie (1932) is often pretty accessible. I LOVE Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, specifically the 1978 film, then the 1956 film, and the 1993 film, Body Snatchers, with Gabrielle Anwar, Meg Tilly, R. lee Ermey, & Forest Whitaker. I appreciate the ‘90s film because instead of remaking the original almost verbatim like the ‘78 film, the ‘90s film goes on a limb and gets creative. As much as George A. Romero insisted throughout his life that his casting Duane Jones was not a political statement, he was not stupid and in conjunction with the rest of his filmography it seems obvious that he was making a statement. Even if Duane Jones was the best actor for the role, (and he was,) Romero certainly understood what he was doing. Anyway, speaking about Blaxploitation, Duane Jones is the star in Bill Gunn’s 1975 film Ganja & Hess. I think a great double feature is Night Of The Living Dead (1968) & Sugar Hill (1974,) starring Marki Bey. 🙏🏼☺️ Godspeed y’all.
